I have a 3 year old Nokia N72, in excellent condition except the paint. I dont have any problems with my phone as such for calling purposes.But I do have problems connecting to internet via my PC running windows 7. All the drivers are correctly installed but the phone wont dial a connection. I get the error.Error 692: There was a hardware failure in the modem (or other connecting device).

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy PC has Windows 7 64-bit Pro, also has Windows XP Mode (Virtual PC). On Windows 7, I installed Nokia PC Suite 7.1.40.6, coming with Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver 7.1.23.0. When I connect Nokia N95 as USB modem, I can download for a short period about 20 - 40 seconds. Download speed is approx 2.8 - 3 Mbps and 350 kbps for upload. After that data loading seems to be stopped. So I have to disconnect and re-dial again to make it work for another short period. Sometimes, when I changed COM port settings to toggle between use and not use FIFO buffer, it seemed to help prolong the connection a little longer. But finally it will stop anyway.
However on the same PC, in Windows XP Mode, I installed Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver 7.1.22.0, I do not have any connection problem with USB modem (attached to XP). I can download / upload data with no issues. Slower data speed in XP mode (1.5-1.7 Mbps) seems to be normal anyway. It seems to me that the driver may have issue with data flow control and or error correction with Windows 7. I suspect that Nokia cable driver may not be fully compatible with Windows 7 yet. Is there anyone having the same issue with Windows 7?
When I had the Z3 for only a few months, everything was working fine. After a few updates it seems as though the videoformat has changed, because I can't import them in any software on my computer. Windows Media Player won't play them, Sony Vegas editing software won't accept it, Avidemux won't convert it. When I open the folders with videofiles from the Z3, no image of them can be displayed. It suddenly seems completely incompatibable with anything on Windows. How do I get to use the stills and video shot with my Z3 again?

I am having problem tethering my bold 9700 to my pc for use as a modem. I am on Tmobile service and am running Vista OS. I called Tmobile and was told that while they no longer support it, it could be done but that Tmobile would not provide me with directions to do so. Is there anyone out there that can give a technology challenged nerd like me step by step instructions to tether my 9700 to my pc with Windows vista. I have searched the forums and cannot find anything that fits what I need, instructions given are for other carriers than Tmobile and/or for Mac OS or Windows XP. But now when I connect the N8 I get the "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)" error. Have tried uninstalling and re-adding the hardware, but keep getting the same problem. Have tried installing drivers from the download on the Nokia site, version 7.1.34.0, but it refuses to do so, telling me I have more up to date drivers already installed (although the installed ones seem to be 7.1.32.62, which is older, isn't it..?)

i did a factory reset after installing the new firmware & all of a sudden the device seems to act a lot faster and better. It had issues after the update, but i formatted the whole device (first the memory card, second the mass memory, and third the c: ) and it seems to be workin a lot better. However, the inbuilt themes look dull. I went to www.mibile9.com and downloaded a couple of s60v5 themes. While installing, i get a warning, 'application is incompatible with this device. Continue anyway?' would it be safe to install these? I know they're not viruses because a friend installed them on his 5800XM with no problems. I'm wonderin if installing an 'incompatible' theme would make my N97 suck again. I've got another question. As far as i know, the 5800XM and the N97 use the same OS. The themes installed fine on my friend's XM, with no warnings (other than application is untrusted). Why am i receivin the incompatible warning on the N97 then? Laugh, and the world laughs with you. Cry, and the world laughs louder :-)

The local company offers until 1Mb/sec download speed, but most of the time it comes with only 200b/sec. Sending is with 128Kb/sec, but the max download speed is 52Kb/sec. I think itīs somewhere in the drivers, but unfortunately I donīt know where. I was 3 times with the local phone company, but they cannīt (will not) help me. Anybody knows an answer?
