Is it possible to use install the iphone as a modem on windows PC? This is not about using as a personal hotspot or data tethering to access the internet, which i already know how to use. i want to use the phone to dial out and connect to a remote modem.

When in Stockholm I have access to an elder Windows computer wit XP. I want to use my iPhone 3GS as a modem instead of transporting my own mac from home. I heard I just needed to install iTunes on the Windows computer, but the latest version is to refined. I found iTunes 8 on the Apple support pages, but the download button wasn't linked anywhere. If iTunes 8 for Windows would be all I need - where do I get it?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy PC has Windows 7 64-bit Pro, also has Windows XP Mode (Virtual PC). On Windows 7, I installed Nokia PC Suite 7.1.40.6, coming with Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver 7.1.23.0. When I connect Nokia N95 as USB modem, I can download for a short period about 20 - 40 seconds. Download speed is approx 2.8 - 3 Mbps and 350 kbps for upload. After that data loading seems to be stopped. So I have to disconnect and re-dial again to make it work for another short period. Sometimes, when I changed COM port settings to toggle between use and not use FIFO buffer, it seemed to help prolong the connection a little longer. But finally it will stop anyway.
However on the same PC, in Windows XP Mode, I installed Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver 7.1.22.0, I do not have any connection problem with USB modem (attached to XP). I can download / upload data with no issues. Slower data speed in XP mode (1.5-1.7 Mbps) seems to be normal anyway. It seems to me that the driver may have issue with data flow control and or error correction with Windows 7. I suspect that Nokia cable driver may not be fully compatible with Windows 7 yet. Is there anyone having the same issue with Windows 7?
Can anyone help me? I am trying to tether my BB Bold 9700 to windows 7. I have unl data plan but not "tethering". My BB desktop software does not have the modem feature. Is there a way to do it? If so how?

I called Tmobile and was told that while they no longer support it, it could be done but that Tmobile would not provide me with directions to do so. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have installed Nokia Suite twice (after first uninstalling it and removing all the drivers) and Nokia software update once, but neither product can see the phone connected by the USB cable. Windows is able to load some of the drivers, but depending on the time 3 or 4 of the 7 or 8 items windows tries to install fail. ie Nokia N86 USB LCIF fails, Nokia N86 USB Generic fails. Device manager has a flag on all phone related items, except for Nokia N86 USB Phone Parent. During the software installs the software sees a phone and asks for it to be removed before continuing with the install, which I comply with. So the software at least partially sees it. The phone is connected by the Nokia supplied cable directly to the motherboard in PC mode and this is a fresh (1 week old) install of Win 7 64.

I have the sa0101usb.inf file (and all the rest in the SEMC_Signed folder). I right-click and click Install, but I get the following error: "The INF file you selected does not support this method of installation". Everything seems ok but for one thing - I can't install the twitter app. It's in the store an allows me to start installing, but it either fails after completing installation, or after restoring user data.
