My microphone stopped working. All sounds work, but when making or receiving calls no one can hear me. I''ve tried using speaker and the headset but still have the same problem. I have also reset my phone, still no luck.
View 2 RepliesI've got a weird issue here. Sometimes when I send or receive a call, the person on the other line cannot hear me. The microphone just does not work. I have to switch to speaker phone before I am able to talk. The problem is very random so I haven't been able to determine if it's a software or hardware problem.

Yesterday everything was fine, but today when I make or receive calls, people can't hear me speak, while I can hear them perfectly. I tried the recorder, but when I make a record, again I don't hear anything when I play it, so the problem must be in the microphone. I haven't dropped or hit my phone, no accidents, nothing. I even tried to restart it, but it still didn't work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using the 950XL at my work and love it. Recently I bought a USB Microphone (Rode Podcaster). It works really well while using it to record voice-interviews with the audio recorder..but while shooting video the phone uses the internal mic instead of the external!?
Microsoft Sweden tells me the video-app does not support external microphones and do not have any solution getting around the problem.
This just can't be right?! Why having a high-end phone with a beautiful camera and USB OTG and do not letting it to support external microphones in video???? In situations like this I actually feel a bit stupid not going for an iPhone.
Have Microsoft simply forgotten to unlock something in the code for the video-app? It just don't make any sense.
Just got this phone out of the box and activated and the mic is not working... not when I'm on speaker phone, not while using Google Now or the voice recorder. And when I record it's getting absolutely no noise at all. However, it does work with an external headphone mic and over Bluetooth.
I've tried turning it off and removing and reinserting the SIM card, deleting the cache, using a small pin to clear the mic hole of "debris." Nothing is working. Firmware is apparently up to date.
Updated to Lollipop last night Verizon OTA, "ok Google" not working further investigating the mic will not pick up at all in any application. I did a factory reset did not work, rebooted in recovery mode and cleared the cache, did not work.

So i recently updated the phone to 5.1.1 (around tuesday). my last call was on sunday. after this update my microphone isn't working anymore. No one can hear my voice. Video works. Siri recognizes a little bit of noise when I blow in the left hole on the bottom. memo works when I shout at the left hole (you can hear your voice but not that much). so it's not a hardware problem. haven't dropped it or something. in fact the 4s stood the days between the call, the update and the second call in it's stand. It works perfectly on Speaker phone and video recording so therefore its not an issue with the mic but must be the software update. I remember having this problem before with an update also.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter updating to Lollipop, (I had 5.0.1 and no 5.1.1) my phone started doing really weird stuff. For example, two months ago, sensors stopped working in any moment and I had to reset it for normal behaviour (for a few hours or minutes, depending the day). Well, that stopped one day without doing anything dramatic (I did factory reset two or three times). But now it got even worst: the microphone just stop working while doing simple phone calls. I have tested it in whatsapp audios and android testing and everything seems fine... So I have to reset the phone and it works for a random amount of time. I think this is an Android Lollipop issue, but I haven't been able to confirm that. If so, How to manage it?

I first thought it may be connection issues or something, but literally every call the person on the other end can't hear me. I can hear them fine however. So I tried recording me talking with the voice recorder and can't hear anything either. Not sure if it uses the same microphone, but when I shoot video it does pick up the audio. My iPhone 4S was dropped in some ranch dressing with the microphone & external speaker part getting the worst of it! I tried making a phone call to a friend of mine and she couldn't hear me. She said that all she heard was clicking noises. (I talked to her later in person!) I also tried playing music through the external speaker and with the volume on as high as it can go, you can hardly hear the music from the speaker. Weird thing is that I sent a friend of mine a Hey Tell message and he said that he heard me crystal clear!! I set my phone in rice overnight and nothing helped so far. Not sure what else to do!! I don't have a warranty on my phone!

After struggling to get microphone to work on phone calls, I did a complete wipe and flashed the latest stock factory image.
I'm still having this issue. It's on both hangouts dialer and phone app.
When I use a voice recording app, microphone works. Google Now "OK Google" does not work though. I'm perplexed how to resolve this issue.
