Nokia Lumia :: Changing Apps Menu On 920 From List Mode?
Nov 24, 2012
I know that with my old Windows Phone 7, the menu was broken down in sections by the starting letter of the app (So it would say "A" and beneath it were all the A apps.) Currently, my menu list is just a list--no letter headings, so you can't push on say, S, and zip down to the S apps. (Kind of how you find people on the Facebook app.)I am not articulating this well, but do you know if there is a way to jump to a particular letter in the 920? Right now, I just have a long list of apps, which is time consuming.
i have nexus 5 with 6.0.1 android version, with this new version of android, the apps menu scrolling down or up, i want to change it by sliding right or left,
This is a really trivial question compared but for some strange reason the app menu that you get when you swipe right in the main menu, started showing these search letters as dividers in the app list. I think they are a horrible waste of screen space but I can't find any menu where to actually change anything. The dividers are similar as in the phonebook but they are actually useful there since I have about 300 contacts there and only a few apps.
I used to monitor "New" applications on the Marktplace and they usually updated every day or two, now, fo weeks I have the same - the "top 3" are:You tube downloaderBT Wi-FiFlash Cinemaand they've been there for at least a week. Other things work OK, though the "loading" of anyting on the markeplace takes much longer than before even when connected t the same WiFi speed as before) - for example, there is about a minute between when I touch an app on the apearing app-list and until I see the "install" "cancel" buttons (usually, I see some of the info loading, but not all and it takes age. I've restarted etc many times, no joy.
After Lollipop goes we have UltraStamina mode. So I have a problem with this mode.In normal mode I turn off some applications (like Google+, Social etc). I don't need them. After I use Ultra Stamina mode, then to come back in Normal mode I need to reboot my phone. But after rebooting that list of turned-off apps is wiped. So it's unnormal I must again turn-off manually every unused app.
I want to change contacts list's view type to name and number* in my Nokia 6720C, but I see no settings, there is only "change fist, last name" in the settings.
Strange thing I noticed. I like small text, so I changed from the standard 350% to 300%. Went to the store, and had 26 updates. This was yesterday.
While I do like the smaller, crisp font, the dialer numbers are very small, so I just re-set back to 350%. Went to the store and boom, there are, again, 26 updates.
What's with that? Do apps really install different versions depending on your font size? That seems pretty strange to me.
Just got a new lumia 920, love the Windows Phone 8, not liking so much that Nokia apps have taken over default Windows Phone apps like Maps. How do I get default Maps app back. I know that underlying system components are still there because Local Scout uses Bing Maps and not Nokia Maps app.
I used the voice command to "navigate" to a place however, my only choice was the AT&T app. Is there a way I can change that "default" nav app to nokia drive? I love Nokia drive over AT&T's nav app not to mention it is an extra fee. It is not worth paying versus Nokia drive , I just don't prefer it.So that's my issue How do I change the default app the phone wants to use (ATT Nav) to Nokia Drive.
Pretty happy as I just got my Tour switching from an 8130 Pearl. Stupid question, but does anybody know how to change the "my number" in the phone menu. I just switched from Verizon over to Sprint to save some money and had my old number ported over. Everything is working fine, but the number still shows up as the temporary one sent to me in the phone menu.
I just got my new lumia 920, and apperently my store was in sweeden. So i got the phone, turned it on and changed the language to norwegian, it freezes up all the time. and i have to do a hard reset (volume down + powerbutton)
And then i did a factory reset.. and i thought.. maybe it works okey if i leave it on sweedish..
So i turned it back to norwegian and it started to freeze up again. And why do the clock reset when doing a hard reset ? thats the only thing that reset back to factory default when i do hard reset.
And for some reason it looks like it's working okey now when the battery is less than 14 %, wich make my phone kind of useless..
I'm using a Nokia Lumia 800, with Vodafone Romania as mobile provider. When I go to Games, XBOX Live section is not available. So any games that I install and should be listed under this section cannot be accessed ( even if the installation wizard for the games completes succesfully). When I bought the phone I remember I unpined the XBOX Live tile from the initial screen; I dont remember hitting Uninstall..
Got a E73 from T-mobile last week. I have noticed that sometime, when I am in the call logs / browser / menu / messaging screen the screen freezes up. this happens randomly but i have noticed that it happens mostly when I try to unlock the keypad.I am able to move to other open apps while long pressing the home button on the phone but when i try to kill /exit from these apps (by pressing the back button), it gives be a message box as to whether i want to exit the app and when i press "yes", nothing happens.
When I press the Music & Video tile it looks like it is going to load but then bounces back to the main menu.Does on the complete list menu as well.Did this once before for a while then started working agin. Also now the xBox Live games is doing the same thing .The Nokia Music tile works OK though. When it first happened I thought it was a low battery thing as the battery was lowish, but this time the battery is fully charged.
Yesterday I bought my Blackberry Tour 9630 smartphone here in India. When I checked my phone, I noticed that it doesn't have GPS option in the Menu List, whereas blackberry official site says that Blackberry Tour 9630 have GPS feature. How to get the GPS option enabled into my Blackberry??
Now, I turn on internet sharing with my Lumia 900 and it simply does not appear in my WiFi networks list on my iPad, MacBook Pro and iMac (OSX 10.7.4) or my Lenovo G575 (Win7 x64).I try to manually connect in both OSX and Windows but it either causes the trouble shooting wizard to appear (Windows) or throws an error saying either the network does not exist or the connection has timed out (OSX/iPad).
When I first got the phone the beginning of June, I was able to tether to my computer at work whilst the internet was down (Fujitsu Lifebook, Win7 Pro x64) - I did this twice without a problem and was able to get on the net (I'll actually check this still works tomorrow; if it doesn't then it may be a hardware issue).
I am trying to sort my contacts in 'People' by Last Name, First without success. I have selected both 'Sort by Last Name', and 'Display names by Last, First' and the list still displays as 'First, Last'. I double-checked my entries to make sure they are correct (i.e. Last name is in fact in last name field).
I Recently bought a Sony Ericsson Elm and transfered all my old numbers across from my w810, however it now lists/sorts them by surname: name E.g. David Jones now appears as Jones:David/M Is there any way to change the appearance of my contacts so that it is displayed and sorted by 1st name instead of last name.
In the 'application management' menu on my N97 Mini, I'm unable to open the list of installed apps. The system just returns to the 'application management' page. I've looked around a bit on the internet, and found out that it may be due to the number of installed apps on the phone being too large. I do admit, I'm not really restricting myself with regard to that, but I also think I should not have to be. And of course, there are workarounds, but for some functions, like changing the settings of some applications, the list of installed apps is necessary.
Questions:
1. Can the problem be resolved? After all, I didn't pump the thing full of Micro-SD memory for nothing.
2. Does Nokia know about this bug? Is it or has it been taken care of?
3. What's the limit on the number of installed apps for the application management to function correctly?
E73 running symbian etc. on T-mobile network. Used on an Wireless LAN for calls / web as well as regular cell, as per most people.
I found (looking from both PC-suite and via phone's application manager) that I had new installs of Fr0MA_0x2000E2FC, the Fr0MA_installer, MDM_Client, Media DS Plugin, MMS DS Plugin, PIPS Installer, etc. Never saw them earlier.
These are new to me, but web searches show they can be associated with digital rights. However, given potential power of the Apps from a remote site I was worried.
1. If I remove them is there any risk to phone use (i.e., if needed can I reinstall them).
2. Where are they likely to have recently appeared from (another app's support, malware, T-mobile or Nokia).

I recently downloaded a couple of apps of my Lumia 800 and I noticed that the app list view has been rearranged in to groups by the first letter of the apps name. Although I find it functional and overall it looks well, I'd like to know if this can be turn off. The only downside I see is that I find myself scrolling down a for longer period of time.
apparently hitting the home icon on the phone does not close an application necessarily. How do you find out what is running? And how do you close them for good?
I have a really weird and annoying problem with my Lumia 800.Pretty much it starts with this:The phone totally random powers off, it wont start until i put the charger in (even if the battery really is at 40% or more). After that whenever I receive a text message (sms and mms) it won't be listed in the messaging conversation. I only see the last sms I sent/got after the phone powered off, new messages is listed in the notification window, but only there. Sending new messages works, but they won't either be listed..So I can't really read my new texts other than in the notification window that pops up when I get a new one.Deleting all my messages doesn't solve it, restarting the phone doesn't either.
When you press the menu key on the blackberry it sends you into the contacts search with the letters Yi typed. Is there any way to correct this? Did I somehow set up some kind of shortcut? Anything? I just got the phone replaced two days ago because the other one wouldn't work with BBM or e-mail.....
Icons in the menu were displayed in 2 pages earlier. But all of a sudden it changed to List View. I think some buttons were pressed when it is in my pocket.
