Nokia :: N97 Mini Unable To Open List Of Installed Apps
May 10, 2010In the 'application management' menu on my N97 Mini, I'm unable to open the list of installed apps. The system just returns to the 'application management' page. I've looked around a bit on the internet, and found out that it may be due to the number of installed apps on the phone being too large. I do admit, I'm not really restricting myself with regard to that, but I also think I should not have to be. And of course, there are workarounds, but for some functions, like changing the settings of some applications, the list of installed apps is necessary.
Questions:
1. Can the problem be resolved? After all, I didn't pump the thing full of Micro-SD memory for nothing.
2. Does Nokia know about this bug? Is it or has it been taken care of?
3. What's the limit on the number of installed apps for the application management to function correctly?

Although I find it functional and overall it looks well, I'd like to know if this can be turn off. The only downside I see is that I find myself scrolling down a for longer period of time.

Apr 16, 2010I have am x6, and in the main am happy with it. However as previous owner of 3 diff n series, there are a couple of usability issues that drive me up the wall! For instance, i came to rely on the 'menu plus c' shortcut to quickly close apps. But no matter where i look, i haven't found a similar shortcut on the x6. Which means closing apps can only be done by going back in and doing it manually from within the app. Annoying and slow Is it me, or has that kind of shortcut been removed? Can anyone help? If at all, one doesn't assign a shortcut to it, still there's an icon that is shown as default when nothing is assigned.Here's what you do...1. Download the app called vacuum.sis from the web. Try this link...www.mediafire.com/?a01dw4w4azasjmn2. Install the app anywhere in your phone, phone memory, mass memory or memory card.3. Now go to homescreen and press and hold to go into edit mode.4. Tap the desired location for adding the shortcut bar and select it from the list of widgets available.5. Once the shortcut bar is added, tap it and go into the settings for adding the shortcuts to it.6. Now if you want to add only one app in the shortcut bar, select the desired location from one to four and add the app. In the rest of the locations, add the vacuum app.7.
Now close the shortcut and return to home screen. You should see only one shortcut in the shortcut bar. This way you can place any one app at any location on the grid with app.What's actually vacuum app? Its a dummy app which when installed, results in an app which doesn't do anything on installation and has a transparent icon. So an unknowing tap on the shortcut also will do nothing. Tada! Nov 24, 2012I know that with my old Windows Phone 7, the menu was broken down in sections by the starting letter of the app (So it would say "A" and beneath it were all the A apps.) Currently, my menu list is just a list--no letter headings, so you can't push on say, S, and zip down to the S apps. (Kind of how you find people on the Facebook app.)I am not articulating this well, but do you know if there is a way to jump to a particular letter in the 920? Right now, I just have a long list of apps, which is time consuming.

I found (looking from both PC-suite and via phone's application manager) that I had new installs of Fr0MA_0x2000E2FC, the Fr0MA_installer, MDM_Client, Media DS Plugin, MMS DS Plugin, PIPS Installer,etc. Never saw them earlier.
These are new to me, but web searches show they can be associated with digital rights. However, given potential power of the Apps from a remote site I was worried.
1. If I remove them is there any risk to phone use (i.e., if needed can I reinstall them).
2. Where are they likely to have recently appeared from (another app's support, malware, T-mobile or Nokia).

Jul 27, 2010On my N97 mini i select a contact out of the contact-list, i select the correct phone-number and make the call. After finishing the call, the screen goes back to main menu.... but the contacts-app sticks active in the background. In order to close that, i have to long-press the button, switch to contacts, and close. Which is a little bit fussily.....

Apr 28, 2010I was wondering if anyone can assist with this. I have an N86 running the latest v30.9 firmware. I have set the default connection in Settings > Connections > Destinations to 'Always Ask'. However, I have noticed that my phone is still connecting to the internet (3G connected icon showing on the standby screen) even when no other programs are runing (according to a long 'Menu' press). When I receive a call I get a message on screen advising that the packet data connection is on hold. 'Packet data active' shown on screen when the call ends. The log also shows the internet connection is being made and maintained often for hours on end, e.g. through the night. Although the amount of data being sent and received is relatively small, this is still a concern for the future if I'm ever roaming or on a metered tariff. Any help to resolve this is much appreciated.

Jan 28, 2010I used to be able to see a combined list of my emails, SMS texts, missed phone calls, voicemails and just about anything else when I opened the Message folder icon on my Blackberry Curve 8330 desktop, but now when I open it, all I get is a blank white screen. When I hit the menu button, the menu pops up without a problem and if I click the track ball, it will open a message, but I can't see the list itself.Also, when I go to view folder I can access any of the individual folders and they come up just fine. The only problem is the combined message list you're supposed to get when you open up the icon on the desktop (or application menu).
