I have bought several E71-2's before, all of them brand new. I got one in today and the USB cable is like 3 inches long. What the hell was Nokia thinking and why did they change it. I also noticed it did not come with an SD card like previously.
View 15 RepliesA longer cable can be gotten separately. But why make the users pay for yet another accessory that would be useless once they get their next non-Nokia phone? The cable supplied with the phone is too short to be useful for anybody using a desktop tower instead of a laptop. Sometimes I wonder how they come up with such brilliant ideas like this tiny cable when no other brands have been able to do such things yet. Then I replace 'how' with 'why' and keep wondering.
View 2 Replies View Relatedi really hope somebody can help, posting on behalf of my husband who has just bought the xpress music 5800, he loves the phone but the one bug bear is that it only rings for 10 seconds before going to voice-mail, i have the same phone and have no problems as my voice-mail switched off but as he relies on v-m for work he needs to have it on! Is there any way of extending the length of time it rings or is it something he is stuck with?

However when I transfer them on to the 5130 I am only getting the first 4:50 of each file.Any ideas why this might be happening? and how to correct it so I can get back into my book?

But i was on the phone for 15 minutes this morning when the phone got uncomfortably hot and the battery suddenly drained completely so it died. The next time i tried phoning someone for roughly the same time it got so hot it started to smell. Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone have any idea what might be the problem? All i can think of is that maybe its the battery?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI must be missing something, the headset (earphones) supplied with my X6 are absurdly short. If I want to listen to music I have to hold the phone next to my head. Any further away and the wire will pull out of my ears it is that short. In comparison to my ipod earphones (which aren't exactly long) the nokia ones are a 3rd the length. I also have some little square clip on player. The manual makes absolutely no reference to this so I can only assume it is a bluetooth player, though I don't know whether this needs batteries, or where the on button is for that matter. For something that is marketed as a music phone Nokia have done a fine job in making this the least practical mp3 player ever created. Can someone please explain to me why the headset is so short that it is redundant and what this mystery square device is. Says on the back ModelBH-214.

The phone has been dropped accidentally (from no great height and everything appeared to working fine) but now I've noticed the battery life will barely last 4 hours. Initially I put this problem down to the battery itself but after buying a brand new battery the same thing has started.
The battery will suddenly jump from half full on the indicator to empty, it'll then beep a few times over 5 minutes and then it'll be dead. On average I'm not having to charge the phone three times a day to use it.
Since my E71 was updated to the latest firmware (at a Nokia Service Center) around 6 months ago I have had a number of odd mail problems, which manifest themselves as follows: After an initial boot everything with mail and messaging works fine as expected. However at least once or twice a day the phone switches unpredictably into an odd mode with the following symptoms:
1) E-Mail key stops responding to short or long presses.
2) New e-mails and sms messages which arrive do not appear on the home screen as usual, though they may (or may not) appear as small icons in the top right corner of the screen............
How do I change the ringtone to a short discrete beep, in situations when I don't want a loud ring tone, but don't won't to use only the vibrator either?

SFR uses 123 to access the voice message recorder, currently accessible through a long push on key 1. Orange uses 888, so I would like a long push on key 1 to trigger 888 instead of 123. Unfortunately, how to is not explained in the manual which deals only of keys 2 to 9. I also resetted the phone to Factory Settings, and even loaded "Default Operator Settings", hoping that that would include reprogramming of key 1 to 888. No way..

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been looking for a very particular tethering solution and so far been unable to find anything: I would like to use my phone's wifi connection on my laptop via the USB cable (I have a 5530 XpressMusic).
Using Ovi Suite, I can use the phone as a modem (i.e. use its 3G connection), but that's not what I am looking for. My laptop's WiFi module is broken, but my phone's wifi is working just fine. So my idea was to tether with the phone to share the connection with the laptop.
I am due to get a Nokia e51 next week but it does not come with a wall charger. As far as I understand it the E51 cannot be charged through the mini USB data cable is that right? - So I might have a spare nokia wall charger for a nokia 6500 Slide phone or a Nokia xpress music phone, will that charger be OK to use on a E51 do you reckon? - I.E. right connecter, voltage and amperage?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently got my Nokia E72, and am trying out the USB Data Cable Charging "feature" - it just does not work for me. I wonder if am doing something wrong? The process of inserting the Data Cable is quite straight forward, the phone presents a menu of options "PC Suite..." which I promptly cancel. I then get a message "Charging", and about 15 seconds later I get a message about disconnecting the charger?
The battery/ phone are now in power save mode ie battery almost completely drained - right. So, why will it not charge through the data cable - it refuses. I have searched on the interweb, but seen to be the only one with this problem. The Nokia E72 manual mentions that charing is possible through the use of the Data Cable. I am directly connected to the computer (MacBook Pro 2009 Model). Mac OSX correctly detects the Nokia E72. Do I have to be in Windows XP?
