Nokia :: E52 Can't Turn Off WLAN - Battery Runs Off Easily
May 15, 2010
I have an E52 and I can't turn off the WLAN. I set everything to off but still when turn on my home access point it connects to it almost instantly and the battery runs off easilly. WLAN scan is set to off, show wlan availability is set to never, and when it sees networks around it shows the two parentheses around the antenna in the main screen (( I )), and when it sees my access point it connects.
After update to ver 50 my 5800 battery runs down in a few hours, even if I make no calls, it also has become very unresponsive, hard to scroll, it was fine until update, I tried my spare new battery and it is exactly the same, no apps are running, wifi is off, and it gets hot occasionaly.
I am from Cyprus but Cy is not in your list. So I use Greece! So I have new Nokia E72 an d I have trouble . I cant turn off the Wi-Fi wireless connection. Is always coming on the screen next message - " Select conection " and " search for wierless or internet connection ! I do setting correctly from the ctrl panel,I choice -Show WLAN never and Internet connectivity - never run But still have this message . Can you help me pls coz is very bodering !
I've just got a Nokia 500 to replace my X6 and its a great little phone, but I can't find a way to turn off WLAN to conserve the battery. I set it up to connect to my home network, but everytime I disconnect it on the phone using the widgit on screen, it refreshes a few minutes later and reconnects - I've turned scanning off and set connection to manual but it made no difference.
I have an E72-2 with F/W 31.023. The phone has been working very well until I recently performed a hard reset. After doing the reset (*#7370#) I have not been able to disable the Select Wlan network display. The display is popping up randomly and is getting very annoying. I have gone into settings and set "show WLAN availability" to Never but the phone seems to just ignore the settings and keeps randomly displaying the select WLAN network notice.
I have tried hard resetting, soft resetting, pulling the battery for a period of time and even tried reloading the 31.023 firmware but nothing seems to be working to disable this annoying "feature". Is there anything else I can do to turn this off? Any other suggestions? Third party app maybe that gives enough control over the WLAN capability to disable It? I really like this phone and keyboard, but I don't know how much longer I can put up with this random display. I hate having to keep hitting cancel, sometimes when I'm in the middle of something else.
I got the nokia E72, and i have a wlan connection at home, so it always connects automaticaly and downloads the emails, and the wlan connection symbol is always on in the bottom of the screen, how to turn this off? cos it will consume more battery power
on my second blackberry bold 9900 it drains the battery in a day or less have changed out the battery once before the battery runs very hot according to the installed software , dont have anything running in the background does anyone have a similar problem? also it wont hold the bluetooth pair with my Kia forte
My E71 keeps connecting to WLAN every minute, no matter how much I ask it to disconnect. I have tried in all configurations to make it stop. It kills my battery and make my phone almost useless.
Since upgrading to firmware v50.0.005 my 5800xm started to run out of battery after 10-12 hours. After some tests, uninstalling programs, deleting all WLAN Connections etc I found out that this is caused by unwanted WLAN connections to known WLANs. How can i solve this? This happens only at home or in my office (where I use wlan) , there are no applications running and nothing is allowed to sync automatically. But after some minutes when I unlock my 5800, I can see the wlan antenna - but when I want to check the connection, it disappears.I never had battery or WLAn issues, but since upgrading to v50 when i forget to connect it to the charger overnight the battery has drained and is empty. For finding open WLAn and for easy connections I use WeFi since I own my 5800. This never caused me any problem. But I have read through the Support Discussion and some other boards on the web: There are many others that suffer from battery drain after upgrading to Firmware v50.So please check whether this may also be related to unwanted WLAN traffic on your 5800:I stayed a few days in a hotel where there was no WLAN. I tried to upgrade again to Firmware v50 again via PC and cable, not OTA again. The battery lasted for three days as before (but remeber there was no WLAn available!)As soon as I was back home, the 5800 begain to connect again in standby estimated every 10 minutes to my home WLAN. I can see this in the routerīs connected devices. When I unlock the 5800 I see that WLAN is active and connected, a second later, or if I click on the icon, the connection disappears Simply bad, because when I forget my phone charger in the evening to hang on in the morning it is empty.Perhaps these guys have the same problem: /t5/Connectivity/5800-Wifi-Bug/m-p/410781 but I never ever had photo exchange, skype, fringe or else installed. I have changed nothing before or after the upgrade to v50, I have not installed new software or else.
I use BB Torch, have observed with dismay how the phone gets hot & battery runs low in 2-3 hours. This is getting fraustrated & hope some one in house has way out.Could it be my battery?
I've had the curve model 8530 for about 14 months. I charge it at night and un plug it and go to work in the morning. It stays charged throughout the day and only would run down - about 30% - 50% if I am talking on the phone while taking the train home (about 40 minutes). Since yesterday, it totally ran all the way down before 2 Pm without any unusual usage - just checking some emails occasionally. It was charged fully this morning and I took the charger to work with me and had to recharge it twice already. How do I find out if the battery is bad?
i find myself having to charge my phone at least once a day, its an xperia ray (st18i) how can i make my battery last longer? i've tried various apps to try and increase my battery life but none have been as effective as id like and i still have to charge frequently.
Yesterday i bought Xperia Z5 dual, i like it, it is a fantastic phone, i liked every thing in it but i have one problem, THE BATTERY. the Battery runs out quickly. when i use snapchat in 5 minutes the battery lose at least 3% also in youtube and games. Wi-FI scaninig, location, NFC, bluetooth are off, the brghtness is under 40%. i don't know why, is it from my phone or is it a mistake from the company.
Just got my new phone, less than a week. Last night I forgot to plug in to charge and the battery died at 2:53 AM... (Still showing on the edge of the screen). Plugged it in for more than 2 hours now it doesn't respond to anything. Hold the power button and so on... Nothing.
I've experienced my TN765 shutting itself down because of lower battery power, even when it's plugged in via USB to a car charger.I realise that the battery will only charge if the device is turned off, that is fine, but it seems that it loses battery power even if it's powered. It's a very slow loss of charge, but on a long trip it can lose it all and shut down unexpectedly. And it isn't the charger working loose because the 'external power' icon is always displayed. It's a Motorola cigarette lighter plug charger. Is that normal and does it do this with the official mount or just on the USB?
I have a BB Torch, which I bought new about a month ago. It works fine except that the battery has now started running out quickly (after about 16hrs from a full charge) , even when the phone is switched off overnight.
I have removed two new apps that I thought might be the problem (Add Contact and Data monitor app), but it has not really made any difference. I have since followed the advice on this Forum to dim the screen and reduce the timeout.
my Pearl 9105 runs out of battery so it goes into sleep mode, I tried to recharge it but it just wont wake up again. I tried removing the battery and SIM card
I've been having a problem the last few days. My GPS icon stays on continuously and ***** the battery dry. I've seen issues where it will stay on for 12 hours. Even though I thought that was abnormal, it would eventually turn off and resume normal function.
Now it is just running non-stop and the only way for me to stop it is to manually turn off the GPS.
My blackberry battery runs-down faster, I used a fully charged battery for just 15mins. I don't know whats wrong. My blackberry is Storm 1. I have just replaced the battery with new one, but its still doing the same thing.
