The latest version of Astro File Manager seems to be able to delete files from the external SD card. I haven't had time to play with it fully-can anybody else confirm?
View 11 RepliesI'm having a strange issue on my Wifi Xoom (running the recently pushed ICS). I recently installed an app (the Caustic demo) from the market. Caustic sets up a basic file structure in storage for storing instrument sample files. Well, after uninstalling the demo, I went to remove the leftover files (via ASTRO) and it said "Error deleting files". I dig into the subdir and tried some individual files, but got the same result. I tried another file manager (EStrongs) but got the same result. I then tried mounting on Windows and deleting that way. It appeared to work (crunched for a second, then the files disappeared without any errors given). But the files still show up in ASTRO, and when I re-mount on Windows, they're still there.
Oh and this is only happening with this directory. Other files and directories can be deleted just fine. Is there a problem with my Xoom, or did the app author do something improper with setting up the directory?
I put a couple of albums on a Mirco SD card and inserted it into my Xoom.The card shows up under /mnt/external1The albums are there and I can select each song individually and play them using the default "Music" player, RockPlayer, or Winamp.What I can't figure out is how to get any of those Media Players to read from the SD Card automatically?

So, I tried something else: I usually use an application named SwiFTP (an FTP server) on my Android devices. But I don't understand why, this app and all the others FTP apps I tried won't work on my Xoom 2ME. I suspect some kind of Motorola's internal firewall.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have music and photo files stored on an SD card. I could play the music and view photos OK before ICS update. After ICS, the music files on the SD card didn't play. If I copied them to the internal memory, they worked. Gallery photos on SD card had multiple copies and would not swipe from one to the next. When viewed with XOOM attached to PC, there were multiple copies of everything. but only one copy of each if viewed in file manager, or by plugging SD card directly into PC. I found on other forums that I can clear the media storage and the files will play properly. However, after I restart once or twice the files are corrupted again. Is there a permanent fix for this problem? Is Google/Motorola aware of this? Is a permanent fix planned for a future update?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI currently missing photo and music, not really missing them, If I open ES File Explorer and open .sdcard/DCIM/Camera all my photo are there. They just don't show up in Gallery. I can open them from ES File Explorer fine. Same with Music, I can open /sdcard/Music and all my music is there but when I open the Music App, it reports"You don't have any music in your library." I can open any song from the file explorer.Also I can no longer see any files in storage when I connect my Xoom via USB to my Win7 pc, the internal storage shows up but is empty.

It is just a standard female-usb-to-male-micro-usb adaptor.I`d like to be able to defenitely replace my laptop with my xoom for obvious reasons.Since i already own 3 usb hard drives (usb-powered, no power cordf). Each one a 500 GB unit.Since the xoom comes equipped with a micro-usb input, it seems that a sensible use for it would be any usb external drive, like the WD Passport series or even a std usb flash card?

I'm still connected to my router and can access things internal to my network (like my Sonos system or router), but can't get to anything external (such as pinging an IP address or doing a DNS lookup).

I've always stored my music in folders sorted by artist and never bothered with tagging as long as the file names started with numbers. I have over 300 gigs in music so I'm not about to start tagging now. my 32 gig sd card has 4500 music files.The music player doesn't play nice with my sorting - artist view winds up showing the same artists 10 times or sorts out compiltation albums while folder view has every single album (300-400 or so) sorted alphabetically.
I would like to go into the external sd card and play directly from there. I can do that, but only a single track will play and you can't use any other apps or browse when the track plays. Am I stupid or something?This is the main reason why I've always used Cowon music players or my sansa clip, I can simply go into folders and play. I have media monkey and love it but even there I use the folder directory.
I recently lost my SD card to my blackberry 9810 and am attempting to restore the files onto a new SD card to a computer. I had automatic backups set up from the Blackberry desktop manager and Blackberry protect. I was under the assumption that these backups also backed up information on the SD card. Unfortunatley, when I tried to restore my phone using a blackberry desktop no old files where restored to my new SD card.I have read an old post that says the automatic backups do not backup SD card documents but am unsure if that is still true.Is there anyway I could restore the files using the backups?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have just 'upgraded' from my trusty DroidX to a Droid Razr Maxx HD (what a mouthful).The new device has a nice screen but (apart from the backside) the overall finish / design is nowhere near as elegant as the DroidX. Sigh.My question is this: on my old trusty DroidX the external SD card that came with the device was already pre-configured as the default location for all app data (I'm not talking about the app executables), the camera storage (/DCIM etc), music and my own files (text, excel, pdf etc). On the new Razr Maxx HD there is an internal 'SD Card' (how can an SD Card be 'internal'?!?) and this is the default location for all data files.
After some snooping around I found that the internal 'card' is at /mnt/sdcard and the external card is at /mnt/external1. How does Verizon/Motorola expect a consumer find out this or work with this information?Of course, I can go into camera settings to re-point the camera to store photos on the (real) external SD card. But the screen capture utility (power and volume down) still writes to the internal area - as does the Download capability (ie from email) - and as do all other apps for their 'data' files (remember, I'm not talking about the apps executable files here).Is there a simple way (for us non-rooted phones) to set the true external SD Card as the default destination for all data files? The current set-up is sooo frustrating. I can't just whip the SD card out of the phone and know all my data is in this one place.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOn day two of owning my X2 I got a error when it tried to read the external SD card. I called Verizon and they had me format it on my laptop. I did this and then reloaded my 4 gig of music back to it. Yesterday evening it did it again and now Verizon is sending me a new card. In the mean time I am using a 1 gig card that I had left over from my Storm. The first thing I noticed is when I transfered the music from my laptop to the 1 gig sd card via a card reader the transfer rate was near 6 meg. When I transfered my music to the card that is bad the transfer rate never got about 2.5 meg. I now notice after listening to music for the last 4 hours at work it never skipped at all. I had very frequent skipping with the original card. Another thing I noticed is the phone doesn't lag at all when I am listening to music.

Everything played and was working fine.I then uploaded and deleted some music files through the bb pc software via the usb cable. Now everything seems corrupted and none works properly. The files are in the play list, but I can't play or delete them. The main screen also shows that there are 12 songs in the library, but there are only 8 (of which none work)

However refuses to delete the jpgs either within the device, with a file browser or with BB Desktop. Seems that the problem comes from the files being listed as read only/archived and possibly some sort of issue with a hidden ds file. I've also tried restarting.

I do have two questions about downloading music to the phone via MotoCast.1.) Is there a way to designate downloads to go to the External SD card instead of internal memory? It seems like it will only go to internal memory until you max it out and it gives you the option to move things to the external card. This seems like a silly step, couldn't it just go directly to the external card?2.) My music displays in playlists when streaming from my computer, but when I select download a playlist and disconnect from the computer (in a no-data environement) the playlist disappears and all of my music is just dumped into the app unoragnized. Is there a way to maintain the playlist after data is dropped and you can't access your computer?
View 9 Replies View RelatedDid a swap from a 64 GB 6P to a 128 GB and tried just doing a nandroid. That would've worked but the fingerprint reader wouldn't work without a factory reset. I also accidentally restores the old EFS in TWRP without knowing I shouldn't, but used the original EFS (did a backup on new device before transfer) and restored it back to what came the device.. So I did that and re-did everything and it seemed to have no problems at first. I downloaded some Google Music playlists, Viper4A + busybox, and at some point my phone stopped letting me modify the files.
Camera can't take pictures. Chrome can't download files. I can't add/remove files via PC. I can't modify files via file managers. I tried chmod 777 sdcard but it doesn't fix the problem. I tried reflashing the ROM and all, and did a complete wipe but restored the data (only) from TWRP - so the problem might be somewhere in there. I haven't changed anything from the setup I had on the 64 GB - it was working fine and then just stopped letting me do stuff.
I'll probably try a complete factory firmware restore then flash the ROM all over again, but wanted to see if there was a simple fix first.
I've had my Curve 8900 for a long time now and I've never had this problem until now. I realized yesterday that when I deleted hundreds of photos from my SD card, there were 'empty' files still sitting in my photo album on my bb.. When I look in my SD card on my computer, all the files I deleted are gone.So I tried formatting my SD card to completely erase everything and start over. I formatted it on both my computer and my blackberry. But the weird files are still sitting in my photo album!Does anyone know how I can get rid of them?
I have a nokia n8 and I added my music manually by drag and drop, but for some reason only some of the songs from some albums went on and some albums appear but have no songs in them at all. I can find no option for deleteing these albums off the phone it seems like a big fail in the design of the mp3 player.

And I also tried some cleaning applications and they are also not working.
