My son is in the Army stationed overseas. We've skyped on my laptop but I really have my Xoom with me far more often. Is it possible to set skype to always run so he can find me whenever he's on?

No explanation as to WHICH username or password and no info when it fails as to what it is looking for. She told me it would take 3 days once it go to them. Which I might point out was NOT what we were told about it being end-user upgradable to 4G once it came out.Verizon's info shows you how to do a backup and then pack it for shipping, but no info on how to GET the shipping materials or address.
I called VZW today and the tech in Enterprise Support didn't know.I'm about to hop onto the Verizon website and use my personal account an initiate a chat session to find out.
I am a new user of Xoom tablet & I just made a big mistake by creating a passwrod that I cannot remember at all. Please is there anyway to restore or start up the tablet.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThe bottom bar (Start Bar, Tool Bar, whatever it's called) continues to cause problems for me while typing. The keyboard comes up, and when I hit bottom-row keys often times my finger will either hit, or register as hitting, the Start Bar. Mid-sentence I often find myself looking at my Home screen, or I'm suddenly in another app.
Is there a setting somewhere such that when the keyboar pops up it will cover the Start Bar? I just got my Xoom and love it apart from this.
one example- Internet app-full screen only shows in 'normal' orientation, wont rotate- it does rotate in others, so its not the 'lock' setting.

View 15 Replies View RelatedI've had a problem with applications starting GPS. First Maps/Navigation, and confirmed with GPS Status. All location servers are enabled in Settings (Google Location services, Standalone GPS services, VZW location services). I'm outdoors when I'm performing these test with a clear view of the sky.
I'll start Maps, find a location, and choose to get 'Driving Directions.' It stops at "searching for GPS." The GPS icon in the notification bar never turns on. I've downloaded GPS Status, and it also doesn't show the GPS icon in the notification bar and therefore doesn't attempts to lock on. I haven't seen other forum posts about GPS problems where the icon doesn't show.
This is sporadic and doesn't happen all of the time when I use the app. But it has occured, between the two apps, about 6 times in the week I've owned the phone.
A work-around that has worked 2 out of 2 times so far is for me is to go into settings, toggle both "Standalone GPS services" and "VZW location services." Then go back into the app and the GPS starts and the icon shows in the bar and everything works. Simply toggling "Standalone GPS services" does not fix the problem, I also must toggle "VZW location services." I haven't tried toggling only "VZW" yet. Everything works fine for a while and then the app breaks again later.
Coming from a Razr Maxx that had issues, I am accustomed to checking my Running Apps list following a start-up/power cycle and force stopping the ones that are not essential to the phone functioning properly. And it seems old habits die hard as I caught myself doing just this on my Turbo and, what do you know.. some of the same apps are running immediately after start-up, despite the fact that I haven't opened them. A few of the culprits are Password Keeper and YouTube. I do use/open these apps on occasion (1-2 times per month) but I certainly do not like them running automatically for no reason. Nothing I do on the phone on a daily basis requires them to be open. It's a PITA to have to go in and manually tell them to shut the heck up! (Yes, I have gone into the settings on each of these apps but there is no box to uncheck to not have the app run on start-up.) So, it would be ever so nice to be able to have a say on what runs and what doesn't

I click update, the app shows to be downloading, finishes and then shows 'update unsuccesfull.' New applications will not download either. Both apps tell me the same thing when I go into google play, and also when I use a direct download QR Barcode. I get a message saying that my device isn't compatible with this version of the software. Could this possibly be becuase the apps are not tolerant of ICS yet? When I first got it, i did not do a factory reset and it downloaded some apps but not all.I then did a factory reset and it shows all the apps to download, but it is not downloading. The apps are just stuck on "downloading."I left it on over night and no movement. I have tried the Vol-Up-On start and cleared the Market cache with the same result. Would uninstalling an reinstalling Market be the next step.

I've switched the auto rotate in settings on and off several times, pulled the battery, even installed an auto rotate switch app...nothing. I would like to way to know which of the stock apps can be added to the list. I have noticed that my battery usage for idle phone in the range of 30-35% (which I believe a bit high). 1] I can't install ANY apps from the market place, free or paid (they download SOMETIMES, then just hang with thart green status bar that slides to the left)
2] I can't update ANYTHING (not even Google Maps!!!)

Unable to install or update apps. While attempting to update, received the following msg: "Update for xxxxxx could not be downloaded due to error(921)". Xoom WiFi only, Android ver. 4.0.4, Build # IMM76 Android phone is able to install and update apps on my home WiFi network.
