I've happily purchased a Motorola RAZR XT910 and have setup my POP email account, which sends and receives happily when on 3G (connected to optus).
At work and home I have wireless access which allows me to browse and to receive emails. But I have errors when trying to send when connected wirelessly.
Problem is when trying to send emails when connected via wireless. Quite correctly it has smtp errors as the smtp setting is for the 3g carrier (mail.optusnet.com.au). So question is "How do you configure the Motorola RAZR XT910 Droid to allow a secondary SMTP setting when in an allowed and configured wireless zone?"
I should not have to turn off my wireless and should not have to manually change the smtp setting each time I want to send from inside the wireless connection.
I tried setting up a second account with just the smtp being different [URL] but was unable to setup the account as it said the account was already setup. Of course the iPhone does allow multiple SMTP addresses.

Is there a way to set up email to sync over wifi only? The option is available on my phone which I have unlimited data on, it would only make sense for Motorola to put it on a tablet that has a limited data plan.

Picking it up this morning I tried entering my security PIN only to find the numbers weren't registering. The problem? My finger holding the device - while not touching the screen area - was too close and was activating multitouch. Moving my finger out of the way solved the problem though my grip slips away and the device starts to fall out of my hands.
I can't be the only one that finds this tablet hard to hold. And the best part is, there's an easy remedy to the situation: give us the option to change the active screen area (e.g. shrink it by a certain number of pixels in order to give us more room to hold it). Even without changing anything else in Honeycomb this is still doable, yet I fear it will never become a reality.
Am I the only one who wants to see them let us shrink the touchable area of the screen so we can hold it better?

I created email accounts that use POP3 to receiv and SMTP to send and find I can receive mail but my sent emails get an authentication error. I originally thought they were not being sent at all but then I decided to let them remain in the out folder. After 6 hours they were finally sent. Some take 1 1/2 hours. So it seems that to send email out with a SMTP (roadrunner account) it can take from 1 1/2 hours to 6 hours. The gmail accounts work just fine, but I don't use gmail except for people I am not sure of and do not want their emails in my roadrunner account. Yes, I have my POP3 and SMTP set up correctly. If I didn't I wouldn't be able to send or receive at all. I have removed them and put them back, turned my phone off and let it rest and turned it back on many times.
I have talked to Motorola and the person I talked to yesterday has referred the problem to a tech person further up the ladder. I have read about other problems of this kind on sites on the web when I googled a question about it, but I am not always trusting of the unknown sites. This is a Motorola help site so I am hoping the information here will be more accurate and trustworthy.
FYI, I just read something from a site that said to use gmail as the outgoing smtp. Well, I switched the smtp for one of the roadrunner accounts to use .gmail.com as the smtp. It seems to have the same problem.

My very small company uses Exchange Server 2003 to host our own email. On my laptop, I use Outlook. When I'm out of the office I connect my laptop to the internet and access my exchange mail via an IMAP account. With that connection, I can send mail using the SMTP server. I got my new Atrix 2 and set up that account using the advanced settings that were the closest to the settings I use for the IMAP account in my Outlook setup. I was immediately able to see my inbox and receive email. After one tweak (that I can't remember any more), I was able to sent mail. Then a few hours later, I couldn't. I've tried every possible combination of the Advanced Settings in the Account Setup screens on the phone. Nothing works. I tried a Master Reset and all that accomplished was flushing away the contact list that the salesperson had copied to my new Atrix from my old phone when I bought it. I thought that was backed up to Google and would be restored when I logged back in but apparently not. Any advice on how to get that back? But the main problem is sending mail.

I have this constant rebooting problem with the Atrix: If I accept a call while being charged, the phone reboots. The battery used to last me about 8 hours initially but now it lasts about 4 hours (not talk time, stand by, with a small amount of browsing and calls), so I keep it charging at work and also when I get back home. When I get a call and I accept it while being charged, Atrix reboots.Less frequently, if it doesn't reboot when I accept the call, and I disconnect the charged while being on the call, it reboots.

I bought the device few days ago and on very same day updated to Android ver. 3.2. I use internet over my home Wifi and have a Netgear - WGR614 router. The browsing speed is very very slow and most sites dont open. The signal strength shown in xoom is - (-105 dBm 3 asu).Is this a issue with Android 3.2 update or my home wifi is weak? Would i be able to reset the tab to the original version?

I want to use an SMTP server which is not provided by the operator (network or broadband). The only form of authentication catered for seems to be "POP before SMTP" where you have to authorise sending using the same login as you first receive with.
Settings I see are:
Incoming : there is no field for remote mailbox address - weird?
Outgoing: there IS a field for remote mailbox address - why? The username and password fields provided seem to relate to this remote mailbox address, not to the SMTP server. (Anyway, they already exist in incoming settings)
E.g. I can receive from my remote mailbox fine. That's "me@tiscali.co.uk" I can't authenticate using the "smtp.o2.co.uk" server to send using my address of "me@tiscali.co.uk" as there is nowhere to enter my o2 authentication details. (I can send unauthorised to o2 addresses)
The above example works fine in Profimail email client and with Profimail I can send emails carrying the "me@tiscali.co.uk" address with o2 authentication via the o2 SMTP server by either t-mobile network or by tiscali broadband WLAN to any of various test addresses.

I have two IMAP accounts setup on my Blackberry. When I receive an email on account A, I can reply to that email and it works correctly. When I receive an email on account B, I get an error when I reply. This has something to do with which SMTP server is being used and the port it uses.I need to be able to set the SMTP server for each account separately, but I cannot find anyplace where I can specify the SMTP server or the port.Is there a place to specify the SMTP server and port for an email account?

I have a very old Freeserve email address which I'm loath to part with! However, I'm obliged to send mail using my ISP (VirginMedia) and so have to set up separate account details for the SMTP server. My M8 seems quite incapable of doing this - it claims that I have the wrong username/password most of the time when verifying. Occasionally, it accepts the details, but then still can't send mail. If I revisit the settings without changing anything, it says they are invalid again.
By comparison, my Windows desktop works fine under the same conditions, and especially my Tesco HUDL! All this using my home WiFi/wired network.
Secondary question - if you are presented with a previously entered password (blobs), does the number of blobs match the password length? I notice that my SMTP password does appear to change its length after it's been accepted.

Has anyone had any success with using Wifi that required user certificates? I'm trying to get my Xoom to connect to the corporate network (EAP-TLS) and followed the instructions for the IPad and imported my certificated into Android correctly. But when I connect, it hangs at the connecting state for minutes, before finally giving up.

Just upgraded my 6700 firmware and the email app got replaced by a new one version 1.2.19. Despite doing it via OVI Suite on the PC with a backup first, the upgrade wiped my email settings and the new email app won't allow you to enter POP/SMTP settings by hand. It tries to be clever and do it automatically from your email address. Trouble is, Nokia's servers don't know that xxx@email.com is owned by mail.com and operated on their behalf by aol.com (with AOL's particular settings). I don't mind programs trying to being clever when they get it right or give you a way to set things manually if they don't. But how, Nokia, do you persuade this new program to let you do that? It's the first email program that I have seen that appears to dumb things down so much that it won't do its job for some.

I have reasonable, but limited, BB exposure over a number of years, but always in a simple email scenario (typically one handset, accessing a single POP3 account). However, for reasons that I will skip over at this point in time for simplicity, we now need to set up a 9300 (on BT, here in the UK) to be able receive from one (POP3) server, but send out via another (SMTP).Unfortunately, however, the BT web interface (BIS ?) only allows one address for "server".

The sim card in the iPhone is a German prepay (vodafone.de) with data enabled and I can receive emails and surf the web via the iphone
The smtp address for the account is [URL] Should this be a German Vodafone address? Vodafone helpdesk said they were not qualified to answer and refered me to apple...

I have a 9360 with Virgin Mobile. Yesterday, I changed my number as we are moving across the country.
The Virgin Mobile rep advised that I should take out the battery and sim card, and put them back a few minutes after, so that the device would "register" under the new phone number.
I did so, and the BB powered up...only to then prompt me to enter my BBID password. I tried a few times unsuccessfully, then realized that I had never registered a BBID. So, I went on the BB website and registered a BBID and PW for the same e-mail.
Tried THAT PW but it still did not work. I don't want to wipe the unit since there are lots of pics, etc., on it. Does a changed BBID take a few hours to register? My other fear is that the the BB isn't even on a network, and hence, how could it "check" my BBID?
Finally, when I hit the "forgot password" prompt on the BB, it tells me that I haven't set up a BBID (which I have).

I had some problem with my brand new Xperia Z3. Thought I'd just reboot the phone, that should fix the problem. After reboot, Xperia asks for PIN code as normally. Only problem is, that it does not accetp the pin code that I know for sure is the right one! I don't know what else to do but re-enter the right pin code hoping that the phone would suddenly realize that it is the right pin. That did not happen. Instead, the phone decided to reset to factory defaults. Now I need to set up everything again, including installing 10+ applications that I've just installed.
After resetting to factory defaults, the pin code is accepted again. Then the question is: seems like the phone had somehow gotten the idea that pin code had been changed. Could this be the reason or what? I'd really like to make 100% sure that this incorrect PIN hassle does not happen again!

i've noticed on my VZW 9650 that if the screen is password locked, and I start typing in my password when the screen is black, that I'll get an "Incorrect Password" message -- even though I'm entering the correct password. But, if I turn on the screen first, choose "Unlock" and THEN type my password, it's always accepted. So, this issue only occurs if I start typing the password directly from the black screen.I've found that after a few incorrect passwords, the BlackBerry will start showing you the password you're typing, instead of just bullets. If I get to this point, I can see that the reason the password is being rejected is because capitol letters are being inserted in the middle of the password. For example, if I type "password" it's actually being entered as "pasSword" -- hence the rejection. This is very odd, and I can confirm that this behavior does NOT happen on my 9700 -- it's only on the 9650.Hopefully I explained clearly enough -- has anyone else seen this? Or better yet, SOLVED it? I would really prefer to not have to press the "Unlock" button before entering my password every time.
