Motorola XPRT :: Losing Network Settings After A Power Off?
Sep 21, 2011
Recently just bought the XPRT and I love it! Fast phone with a sweet keyboard. I am using the phone in Australia so I am using the GMS/UMTS network mode.
I like to turn my phone off at night to conserve battery power as I often forget to recharge my phone. However, when I turn my phone back on it restores the Sprint network mode and turns on all the network guards and turns data connections off. So having to change all this again each time is slightly annoying so I have just been leaving my phone on at night.
Is there a way to save these settings so I can turn my phone off at night? Or do I have to leave my phone on?

My phone does not have the Shutter Tone setting in the camera settings. Is anyone else missing this setting option?
- This is related to another post that was marked answered.
According to the Sprint User guide, there should be a Shutter Tone setting to turn shutter sound on or off.

I finally broke down and installed the Atrix HD update yesterday. What a mistake. Prior to installing the update, I could drive from home to work and have the battery drop from 100% to 95% in about 20 minutes or so (which, is terrible as well). Today after installing the update my battery went from 100% to 87% in the same 20 minutes. I can't believe that an update that was presented good for battery life actually makes it worse! I can say however, that the performance of the phone is better (touch responses, less laggy, etc, but I am sure that is at the cost of battery life). Other than a hard reset is there anyway to get this update off of the the phone?

I've tried calling Verizon, but they won't open a ticket because of a known issue with the .173 update, but everytime I enter a extended network area, I quickly lose data connection. It seems like I hear of quite a few people in my area having this problem. Verizon pushed a hybrid PRL to my phone and the PRL version went from 15098 to 13014. Am I going to just have to wait till they actually send someone to fix a local tower or is this something nation wide?

My wife and I both have Atrix 4G phones. I frequently get a Popup window when I unplug the charger reminding me to unplug the charger. This happens both with my 12V to USB adapter plugged into my motorcycle and with the home charger from Motorola. Also, I lose the settings for my home wireless and have to re-enter everything. I've gotten notifications that I'm using up my data plan because I lose my wireless and emails then start downloading over the cell network without my knowing it. I'm about ready to get rid of the so called smart phone and go back to my basic cell phone.

Is there a way to adjust/add to the auto-correct dictionary for the physical keyboard of the XPRT? On my SOLD BB9650, this was done the first time I picked up the phone. Now, I can't. This phone (while waiting for Gingerbread), would be THE BEST, if it could fix this little problem...

What are the plans for future software updates for XPRT?Is Gingerbread going to be the last one? Any chance for 4.x?Because, see, as of today XPRT is lagging behind for like a year on Android updates. It was released (June 6, 2011) with outdated FroYo (released May 20, 2010).Now, if stars align, we'll get GB 2.3.5 update (released July 25, 2011) hopefully in August '12.And that also means that phone that's been out only for a year is already 2 major Android versions behind current one.

I've searched and am struggling to find much on these. What do they do, and how are they different?
According to HTC: Note: IfData connection is selected, HTC One automatically disconnects from the mobile network after 15 minutes when the screen is off and the data connection is idle (no download activity, streaming, or data usage). It reconnects and then disconnects periodically when the data connection is idle to save battery power.
Do these affect mobile data, Wifi, or both? Do they affect anything else?
I've left these off because I don't know how they work, and am getting fairly short battery life (10 to 15 hours, depending on use).

I can't seem to get my phone to vibrate. I set to "vibrate when in silent mode", then set to silent mode, but no vibration. I have also set vibration to "alwasy" but still nothing.

How would i determine what is causing battery power loss. The phone is 3 months old and within the last 2 days only has battery power for 6 hours. Is there an easy way to determine what applications are running without having to check each one. I have tried resetting the factory settings, but it indicates that there is an application or call that needs to be closed. There is definitely no call running so it has to be an application.

Usually I arrive somewhere, pop in a prepaid sim and hit the ground running.,, On many different networks. US, NZ, AU, no problem. In Bangkok I blamed the dodgy Thai sim card and language barrier, but same problem in Cambodia on different network. Meanwhile, my friend's phone is getting 3g just fine in both countries. I think I need to change some code or something in the phone settingsThe Cambodian woman who sold me this sim tried typing "qb" where a network code would go, and of course it gave her an error over and over. I'm sure my sim is designed for 3g and that there's coverage.

I bought a factory unlocked IPhone 4s (Model MD234LL and Serial DNPGYCCWDT9Y) from US and after the software upgrade 5.1.1 (9B206) I find that the device looses signal strength and does not connect to Internet 3G or on other occasions Internet connections drops. Sometimes I have "No service" that also comes up. Even making phone calls is difficult and during calls the conversation is dropped and i have to call back sometimes. I also use a BlackBerry and have a connection from same service provider but my BlackBerry shows better Internet browsing capabilities than the iPhone. When the iPhone shows no service my BlackBerry has signal strength.

This afternoon, randomly, the headset icon appeared in my taskbar on my HTC Hero. I'm running the latest software. It obviously means I can't hear anyone who calls nor can they hear me. I've had a look online and the general consensus was to download an app called Toogle Headset. I found Toggle Headset 2 and downloaded it (and paid for it). I've added it to my homescreen as told and the little box shows up with the 'on' green status but pressing it doesn't set the headset status to off. In fact tapping it doesn't seem to do anything. Is there another way to toggle off the headset setting or am I doing something wrong with the Toggle Headset app?

know if there is a way to reduce network polling or disable data service while keeping voice service available? I've had this question for a while because my battery runs down very quickly when I am bicycling in fringe service areas, but the recent blackout was even worse. One or two other phones I have owned had a setting that reduced the frequency with which they would attempt to connect to the carrier's network. And it would be nice to disable attempts to send or receive data when I know that there won't be a usable tower within range for a while. The only option I can find on my BB, however, is to turn the radio on or off. If the radio is off, then I have to manually search for the network. My Blackberry is a Bold 9650 served by Verizon. It runs some version of the 6.0 operating system.
