Motorola Photon 4G :: Enable Vibrate For Text Messaging?
Sep 30, 2011I would like my phone to vibrate for text messages and all other notifications when set to silent without having it vibrate at all times, is this possible? If I go to menu/settings/sound/ and select vibrate in silent mode it won't vibrate when im in silent mode. The only way for it to vibrate is to go to Text messaging/menu/messaging settings/ and select vibrate(also vibrate when notified) but this makes the phone vibrate at all times which is what I dont want. I took the phone to a sprint repair center and the display model did the same thing, the tech just thought it was weird and that was it.....

Nov 1, 2011I really wish the Photon would display the actual time when an incoming text was sent rather than the time the phone received it. For instance, someone sends me a text at 3am while my phone is turned off. Then at 8am I turn it back on and received the text. But I have no idea what time the text was actually sent because it will be marked as 8am. With previous phones I had it would always show the actual time it was sent. Is this a bug or are all android phones like this?

Nov 18, 2011Something funky going on with my yahoo account. I can't remove it. I get no response when attempting to remove it from the phone from manage accounts. And when I view the account, the username field is blank and uneditable. I suspect thats why i can't remove it. What's going on? is there a way to clear my email account or at least set the username?

Dec 12, 2011I have my Atrix 4g with AT&T. I'm having a problem with text messaging. I'm not for certain (hadn't noticed), but I think my phone was not originally doing this and it started about a week after I got it.What happens is that all images I receive in MMS text messages, appear to be the same image. Say I received a picture of a dog from one contact. All future images received, from all contacts, appear as the exact same picture of the dog. However, if I hold my finger down on the image and select "view picture", the picture will display correctly. If I save it to my gallery, etc, it appears correctly. But it continues to display incorrectly in the text messaging conversation itself.I tried rebooting my phone, and all this did was update the "universal" image to the most recent image I received. All images were still displaying the same thing. I've also tried Googling this problem and haven't found anything about it so far.

Aug 6, 2011I am trying to fing out what happened to the ability to select multiple contact to send or forward a text message or email by ticking the "head" icon, which brings up your phone contacts list and then checking off the contacts you want to send to. All I can see is you have to select them one at a time using auto complete in the "to" field. Is there a way to select them like we used to? If not, then when can I expect Moto to send an update that fixes this? This was an option on all previous Adroid releases, so why is not there now? I know I can create groups, but that is just ignorant, I dont send to the same people every time, so groups are a waste of time.

Why do you like them or not like them?I'm currently using Handcent but don't like that the phone number doesn't show up with the name at the top...this means that I don't know whether I am texting my husbands work phone or home cell phone most of the time unless I look at the context of the previous texts.

Jan 10, 2012I just had to do an exchange on my Cliq 2 and I am trying to get the replacement setup the way the original was. On the original I had the text message notification setup so that every time I received a text message the phone both vibrated and had a notification ringtone. It did this whether the phone ringtone was set to vibrate or sound. Now I cannot get the text message notification to both chime and vibrate when the phone is on vibrate.

Nov 10, 2011I have a bug on my phone. Some times I will send a text it won't show up in the chat box after I hit send. When I back out it will appear in the full text message list.When the recipient replies it will come in a new thread. All sent will be in a thread and all recieved will be in another. I have all contact phone numbers saved in this format: (555) 555-1212. It doesn't always perform this way and reacts randomly. Usually it will fix itself upon deletion of both threads and a soft reset.Any know fixes? Is this a known issue? Is anyone else having this Kernel version: 2.6.32.9Build number: 4.5.1A-1_SUN-198_6

Jan 30, 2010I have an unusual issue I would like some assistance on since I just got a blackberry, I have the Curve 2 8530. I use Total Call Blocking with my carrier so that when I call anyone my number is automatically blocked / restricted. Therefore, in my contact list, I have my friends or family contacts listed with the *82 in front of the number to unblock for those people. This works fine for phone calls.
However, on Text Messaging / Picture Messaging, the *82 will cause these messages to fail. I am used to LG phones, you have the ability to edit the number while creating a message, before your send one of these messages. The problem I am having is when I send a Text Message / Picture Message it appears from the blackberry as only the 10 digit number (even though the contact has *82 in front of it)...and the message shows it is sent (with the check mark) but it NEVER received.

Sep 6, 2011i already had a moto defy that could support delivery reports in text messaging,now im on Atrix, my device is international, but there was not any option to activate delivery reports on sms setting,so i installed sql editor from market & changed the value of "sms-mms-delivery-reports" from 0 to 1the option discovered in sms setting but it didnt work (attached photo)also i tested other apps like GoSmS & ... but they didnt work too,i've tested this method on froyo and also othet 2.3.4 roms based on 4.5.91 AT&T and 2.3.4ORFR, but nothing at all,why moto have missed this trivial option in a high end smartphone?this is critical for me & i dont want to sell my phone just for this, i love moto, i love my atrix, but what should i do?

Jun 22, 2011my biggest complaint about Gingerbread reared it's ugly head this past weekend. The lack of "+" symbol in the "to" field of the stock text messaging app.
I wanted to text all of the people in my contacts list who are fathers, to wish them a happy father's day. Unfortunately, to address a text message to multiple recipients, I must remember every one of them, and type in their "letter" individually. I have to type in a letter, then pick one contact, then type in another letter, then pick another contact, then type in another, then pick...I'm sure you can see where this is going. And of course, once I thought I had gotten everybody and pressed "send", I then went into my contacts list and realized that I had forgotten several people, and had to do it all over again. Something that should have taken less than a minute instead took several minutes, and I'm sure I still likely forgot someone!!!
Just who's brilliant idea was it to remove the "+" symbol (that would open up the entire contact list for easy multiple picks) and replace it with the stupid "suggestion" arrow! They should be fired and shot...not necessarily in that order!
Motorola Atrix 2 :: Reinstall Stock Text Messaging App On It?
Feb 17, 2012Is there anyway to reinstall the stock text messaging app on the Atrix 2? Since day one the app will link to the wrong message from the preview, either in the Universal Inbox, the Notifications, or the Text Messages list. A reboot of the device corrects the problem temporarily, but it always returns.

Nov 4, 2011I can type about two words when composing or responding to a text message and then it freezes and I get the force quit error message. I get the sense the phone is trying to do something else at the same time - like find my GPS. I killed and deleted a bunch of apps to see if that would work and it didn't. I was running Go SMS Pro, but went back to the factory app - and it's still a problem. I am still running Go Contacts and Go Dialer.

Aug 26, 2011Since the update or attempt to install the Swype beta I've had a problem with text boxes not receiving characters entered by the keyboard or voice command. I can pull up a search or text message or email. All of them will allow the keyboard to display and it vibrates to let me know I'm pressing characters, but nothing ever actually appears in the window. Same for voice input. It appears to be working, but no words actualy appear in the text window.

Nov 12, 2012I'm having trouble setting a default tone for incoming texts. I assumed this was done in Settings->Sound->Default notification, but texts still come in with the original factory default tone. This is not good since I have so much trouble hearing the tone and subsequently miss texts. Do you have to set the tone and restart the phone? I've had a similar problem with ringtones as well. You set a custom ringtone for a contact, it acknowledges that the tone is set, but the tone that's played for the contact is the default. I'm honestly starting to regret getting this phone. I'm running the most recent firmware for the Photon Q 4G LTE (7.7.1Q-6_SPR-125_ASA-10). Unfortunately, the issue existed prior to the update and is still a problem.

Dec 1, 2012What is the size limitation for these attachments? I recorded a 23 second clip in MMS mode which totaled 368KB. It won't go. I had one rep. tell me the limit was 15 seconds regardless of size. I thought I had read on VZ site it was 500K but may have dreamed that.
Or is it neither size or length but something else? And finally is it the same for GMail?
Motorola Electrify 2 :: Text Messaging Suddenly Stopped Working?
Sep 7, 2012I'm probably going to have to take this in to the local US Cellular store to see if they can figure out what is going on. I tried sending texts to three different individuals this morning and all are not going through. Initially I was using Go SMS Pro as my default SMS program. Thinking something may be messed up with that program, I switched my default SMS program to the phone's Text Messaging program. Still cannot send or receive any messages. I am on a business plan (which my wife is on as well). She is receiving and sending texts fine. I tried sending her a test text, and it tells me "Message Not Sent". I had her send a test text to me. It shows that it sends fine on her end, but I never get anything.
Is there any error log I can look at to see what's going on? I have powered my phone off and on 3 times already this morning and that hasn't fixed the issue. Any suggestions or am I just going to have to take it in? I hate doing that because they're just going to do a Factory Reset I'm sure since they aren't too good on the technical side of things.
