Motorola Photon 4G :: Gmail Not Auto-syncing?
Aug 16, 2011Anyone else's gmail not syncing automatically? I have to manually refresh (twice) before it would update. There are no settings to select autosync as an option.

Motorola Photon 4G :: Gmail And Calendar Won't Auto-sync?
Aug 26, 2011I set up my gmail and calendar and they synced properly, but after that I had to go in to profiles and the goggle profile and push a sync to get them to update. I can't find a place in the menu to change the auto-sync settings.

Oct 28, 2011My Photon 4 G does not sync calendar, contact, Gmail with my company Gmail account. I believe that it just stopped syncing last week and I believe that it was following a Motorola update, but cannot say for sure. Under Data Delivery, both Background Data and Data enabled are checked green. However, this is interesting because Email and corporate sync is grayed out on that screen. When I go to Account, checking the sync options is not possible, but I can do a manual sync. Please note, at one time, these options to sync Contacts, Gmail and Calendar were available. I've pulled the batter. I really do not want to reset to factory default. Suggestions? (Please note this is a company Gmail account, not just regular Gmail.)

Nov 28, 2011I powered off my Photon trying to get it to charge faster, it had gone from 8% to 14% in 90 minutes while plugged in USB to my PC. It automatically reboots after it shuts down. Out of curiosity, I unplugged it and powered down. It stayed down. As soon as I plugged it into the USB of my PC it powered up all by itself. Kind of surprised at this behavior. I know darn well I have had it off and it stayed off when plugged into a wall outlet. I can't wait for this new battery to come from Motorola.

Aug 15, 2011When I started my phone for the first time, it automatically synched my GMail contacts, which I really don't want on the phone. On other Android phones, there was a way to clear the data in Contacts Storage when you went into the app through the app menu. That option is "greyed out" on the Photon, so I can't just erase all the contacts and let my Outlook contacts automatically repopulate.Is there another way to clear Contacts Storage without doing a reset? I"m sure I could get rid of them by starting over, but they I lose all the customization I've already done.

Nov 13, 2011I purchased my Photon at the end of September, and for the most part it has been the greatest phone I have ever used. That is, until my camera stopped working correctly! I launch the camera app, and the screen switches to landscape and the camera initializes, but it will not focus!! I have to tap the screen very hard and rapidly for it to force focus, and any situation other than bright daylight will not focus at all. The phone does not even make that little clicking noise that I think it made when going into camera mode, which I believe meant that the shutter is activating (right??).
This happened once before to me, and I took the phone to a Sprint store. The rep simply toggled the image resolution from 3mp to 5mp and back, and it worked. I then left the store feeling like a dope.....until the next week when it started happening again. Now, I've tried everything to get the camera to work again, but nothing.
Motorola Photon Q 4G :: How To Auto-rotate The Main Screens
Oct 24, 2012I have auto-rotate checked in the display settings. When I slide out the keyboard or plug into the HD Dock the screen auto-rotates to landscape. This makes sense. However, at all other times the screen is locked in portrait. How do I enable auto rotate of the main/home screen without having to slide the keyboard out?

Nov 21, 2011I do not want my contacts stored ANYWHERE except on my phone and on my laptop (Outlook; not using exchange server).However, when I try to create a new contact, the phone asks me to select a gmail account.It does not offer any option to select something other than a gmail account.I have accessed all menu settings and have limited my gmail accounts to only syncing gmail.There must be an option to create a new contact without linking it to a gmail account.

1> I have tried using both domainusername and just username with no success.
2> Also have tried setting up gmail as corporate account and later changing to the desired account settings as suggested in other forums and it still shows the same error.
I have been able to using the same credentials on my old phone and it used to work perfectly.
Motorola Photon 4G :: Where To Control Auto-switch To Silent Mode At Night
Nov 17, 2011I have been using the Photon for months but can not seem to find the area that manages when the Photon goes into silent mode.I thought it was in the custom battery mode. I set it to Custom battery saver, set the Off-peak hours to start at 10pm and end at 5 am.My alarm goes off at 5:30 am but it never rings, even though I have it set in the alarm setting to do so.
I have noticed that the phone automatically changes to silent mode around 9pm and will not auto switch back until 8 or 9am. I get fustrated and set it to ring when I first use the phone in the morning.Is there some file that I need to edit to get my time window in? This is driving me a bit nuts, lol.
Motorola Photon 4G :: Default Keyboard Setting Has Auto-correct Turned Off
Aug 18, 2011I've seen a couple comments here and there re: the Phonton keyboard being "difficult", and I think those comments are completely warranted when you consider the settings Motorola / Sprint use as the phone ships. They ship it with Auto correct OFF! I came to this phone after 4+ years of blackberrying. I knew the soft keyboard was going to be an adjustment, but with the Photon it was REALLY bad out of the gate. I'd type something, see that I miss-typed it, then I'd have to select the correct word out of the list above the keyboard (assuming it had some idea of what I was after). Very tedious... So I went poking around in the settings and saw they had a auto-correct setting and it was turned OFF!

Apr 19, 2011All the birthdays in my gmail contacts were originally working fine on my Atrix.However since the update they do not sync properly. If I add a new contact the birthday doesn't show and if I change the birthday of an existing contact the birthday disappears on the Atrix. They dates show on the contact information but do not appear on the calendar.In addition, if I change or enter a birthday for a contact using the phone it always changes the entry to the previous day after I hit the SAVE button. For example, change a contact's birthday to April 1 and after saving it shows March 31 (which is what gets synced back to google). It doesn't show up on the calender under either date however.

Jan 17, 2010What is the best and easiest way to sync with your Gmail calendar? I've tried using MfE but all I seem to be able to do is sync my emails. My method for doing this is Menu > Email > Email > New > MfE . I'm assuming this is how to do it but there is also a Sync program within Menu > Ctrl Panel > Phone > Sync where you can create a new sync profile but I don't think this is it.

I do see that Pkgbackup was able somehow to sync with Gmail as if I go to my contacts in gmail I can see PkgBackup however everything I try does not work. Dec 20, 2015I just picked up the V10 on Saturday, and I love it with the exception of one thing... My data, or maybe just Gmail, does not get email when the phone is in stand by. When I double tap the screen to wake it, the Gmail comes in. I checked my account and it's set to sync. I checked wf-fi and it's set to stay awake when the phone is off. Power save is not on and no third party apps to control power or anything like that.
Will it just take a coupe days for Gmail to sync properly, or is something else going on? I don't have this issue on the iPhone using Outlook, or on the Moto X Pure.

May 9, 2015So, we have 2 ATT GS5 phones that have been updated to Lollipop since the software was released. On May 7th, my wife's phone just stopped syncing Gmail. Funny thing is, it syncs all the other google services under accounts (Calendar, Contacts etc...) When you look at Gmail under accounts, where all the google services are, the Sync arrows never go away on the Gmail section. Also, since I cleared all app data, when you go into Gmail for the first time, it just stays at the pulling down email screen.
-I tried clearing Gmail app cache and data buttons, no good.
-Tried the uninstall updates button, rebooted, re-installed updates, no good.
-Rebooting phone and removing batter, no good.
-Tried clearing off all her pictures/videos to make more space (now have 5GB free), no good.
What else is there?

Jan 24, 2012using Photon 4G with Airtel prepaid sim with system version 45.3.6.MB855.Sprint.en, Whenever I run short codes (USSD codes) like *123# to check my prepaid GSM balance or interact with service provider by *121# it takes long time showing USSD code running.. and after few mins either shows MMI successfully complete or MMI failed but doesnt actually show the text which is shown in my other GSM phones; to query balance or activate some service. Tried forums but no concrete solution.
