Motorola Photon 4G :: Charging Indicator Still Showing Even After Unplug?
Oct 10, 2011
You unplug your phone after charging it but the indicator still shows as though the phone is still connected to the charger. The only way to get this back to normal again is to power cycle the phone. Plugging it back in and unplugging it again will not make it go away once this has happened.
I just updated last week to Gingerbread but this was happening before that. I plug my phone into my factory charger and when I go to unplug it it says it is still charging. Dosent go away until I reboot the phone, any ideas? When it is fully charged the green led even stays lit. Dosent do it all the time just enough to be annoying. I really dont want to trade my phone for a reconditioned one since it is only three weeks old.
I have had my X6 16GB for just over a year on a contract with O2, now I've not really had any problems with it, few bugs etc but nothing major. Recently out of the blue however it's decided it doesn't want to charge, the phone will show the charging indicator when the charger is plugged in however it will not charge the battery, then the battery will completely drain and I can no longer power the phone on.
The phone has a 2 year warranty and has just under a year left so it was sent back to O2 who have just said it is "Beyond economical repair" and sent me a broken phone back which is no use to me at all. I've had Nokia's for as long as I can remember but I'm not really quite sure what I'm to do with this one as at the moment it's a useless paper weight.
Since I bought my Photon earlier this week, I immediately noticed that the indicator light didn't, well, indicate. Anything, ever, at all. It didn't even light up when charging. I know this is not a burned-out LED because I've installed an app which fixes most of the problems, the app is called Light Flow. Its only limitations on the Photon are that it can't light the indicator for battery charge events/status, and it may not be able to show all the colors, but I do have it working for missed call/text, email, bluetooth on, etc. The issue is, I shouldn't need an app to do this and I want the indicator LED to show battery charge status.
This is a stock, non-rooted phone.

Own 2 Photons, both show roaming indicator and comparable numbers of bars (in a given spot) while in a Verizon (CDMA) area. One phone can make/receive calls and has 3G service and the other one can't 99.9% of the time. All relevent phone settings (domestic roaming/ data enabled, PRL/profile updates, etc.) are identical on both phones. In all other respects, both phones operate the same and without problems. Is this a Sprint network issue or a Moto phone issue?
I've had a problem, and hoped the update would fix it, but it didn't.Not a major thing, but I subscribe to the $30 Sprint wireless hotspot service. It seems to be okay when in 4g. But, it seems like when I'm in 3g, and I end the hotspot (uncheck the box), the notification of it being active stays in the notification bar. It's uncertain if the hotspot is still running. The only way to clear it from the notification bar is to power off/on the phone.
The feature i miss the most from my droid 2 days is the little indicator light to know that the phone is charging... I realize that light was left off this phone and moved to the caps lock key. But wondering if there was a way of turning in the indicator light when the phone is charging like when i get a notification that i have a text message. My Wifes incredible 2 indiciator light turns red when it is charging and i beleive turns white when it is finished. Its just a lot easier for me to look at my phone and see it is charging vs having to unlock my phone to see if it is charging or see it on the lock screen. Sometimes my charges becomes unplugged and i was always quick to know with the droid 2 that it had happend. vs waking up the next morning with my droid 4 thinking it was charging and nothing all along. Is there a feature i'm missing or is it possible to have this in an upcoming update?
This seems to be a common occurrence, but I haven't been able to predict it yet. Sometimes, when I unplug my DX2 from the charger, the battery indicator continues to flash the little charging "lightning" symbol as if it is continuing to charge.
When I go to Setting-->Battery & data manager-->Battery usage it will show 98% for "Display" and nothing else listed. Also, even if the phone has been unplugged for an hour, if the charging indicator is still showing in the notification bar, the battery usage will show that it has been unplugged for 0 seconds.
I wonder if this impacts what level of charge the phone is saying it's at. In other words, if it says it has a 50% charge, is that about right or could it be 70% or 30%?
As of this morning, my phone no longer charges using the supplied Samsung charger. Additionally, when I UNPLUG the cable from my computer or the wall, I receive a notification saying "The dock is connected" which is obviously odd as I have actually just disconnected the cabling. Along with this message, the docking audible is heard when plugging in the charger on either the computer or the wall.
When I plug into my computer, the phone is no longer recognized as a USB device either which makes it difficult to back anything up at this point.
I do not have the lighting bolt or any blinking LED's while the charging cable is plugged in.
So far I have done the following to troubleshoot - tried different cable on both the computer and wall - power cycled the phone multiple times - checked for system updates. I am up to date. - cleaned / blown out the charging port - cleared system cache
I have not yet done a factory reset for obvious (last resort) reasons.
My Nokia N97 use to be in perfect condition and would charge every time i plug it in. However, lately whenever I plug it in, it charges and then it stops and says "Unplug charger from power supply to save energy" and then it says "Not Charging" and then it charges again and then it doesn't. The light near the charging slot always turn on and off multiple times. I have to play around with the charger and plug it in and out multiple times to get it to work. When it finally starts to charge, it takes extremely long to charge. It used to charge quick but now it take hours. Also, if it is charging, and I accidently touch the phone or the cord, it will immediately stop charging. Then I have to play around with the cord again so it will charge.
I plugged my bb into the wall and for a little bit it was charging fine but then the symbol disappeared. I unplugged and plugged back in which made the clock pop up so I know it connected right. But its still not charging. I turned the charging indicator led on with berrybuzz and the light didn't turn on when I plugged it in.
Meterberry says the temp is 111 degrees. I don't know what the 'normal' ranges are. I'm still under my 30day warranty so do I take it back? Is anyone else having this problem? Its done this before and it eventually charges but something is going on....
Anyone having issue with the Photon not charging and connecting to pc's usb. I beleive one problem caused the other - 1st i couldnt charge my batter in the wall so i wanted to see if it was the charger - grab'd my evo charger and still nothing so i pluged it up to the usb and my pc isnt recognizing the device. Drvers were already instaqll and i used the Moto Media Link to sync music and pic yesterday. Ive hardkey reset my phone, now its charging but still not getting anywhere with the usb connection.
Since my PHOTON wouldn't charge when I plugged it into my HP (Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit) with the cable that came with it, I've installed the Motorola USB Drivers on my HP laptop and selected "Charge Only" as the USB connection option. The PHOTON still does not charge. When I connect to a different laptop, it does charge without downloading any drivers.
I think the problem is the PHOTON requires more than 500mA, but the HP laptop is not letting more power to the USB ports. I've tried all 3 USB ports with no success.
how to remove the power limitations on the USB ports on an HP?
I shut my Photon down and plug it in and it turns back on. I plug it in and power it down and it turns back on. I power down, remove the battery for 15 seconds, reinstall the battery and plug it in and it turns back on. No new software or apps that I'm aware of. It just started doing this today and we've had it for six months.
When searching for apps in the marketplace, I get the message that there are many apps found, but I cannot get more than a screen or two to show on the phone. How do I get the remaining apps to show so I can evaluate or select them?
I just set up my Photon and I see there is a accuweather app on the screen but it does not show my city, it shows another city. I was able to go in and ad my city to the list bit when I am on the main screen it still shows the other city. I do not see any place to delete this city but I can delete my city if I wanted to. I am thinking that maybe I missed something while I was setting up the phone itself?
I have a Moto Photon and have added a contact and attached a photo image as it's icon. The problem is that when I dial this number the icon shown isn't her picture but the voicemail icon and it says voicemail although it is her number and she does answer
since the update i have had bad battery life even without use and prior to the update my phone battery would show the display being the most used and now its the phone idle is there a reason why this is having such a high usage now when befor it was never high?
Verizon Wireless G4 VS986 running 10b. It seems frequently, the battery charging indicator will get stuck at a certain percentage even though it shows the charging taking place but the % would not increase. It will charge while the phone is off but even after powered off and/or powered off and restart, it will either continue charging or it will charge but not update the %...
I have updated my c6-00 phone software to 40.0.021. After the update, white charging indicator light has stopped working (around the charger port on phone). Rest of charging process is working fine.
Recently, when I unplug my headphones, the media volume level indicator briefly comes up and shows that the media volume has been set to zero. I can't imagine why this is happening.
I just got a blackberry curve 8530 today and I love the phone. However, as I am charging the phone right now, there is no indicator light for charging. You know, when phone is charging a light blinks red and once its completed its green. My blackberry is not doing anything. It is charging but no indicator light or anything. Is this right?
I had an earlier post...that solution worked for a day or two. Now, BB won't charge at all.
-it appears that BB is draining the battery from a full charge battery after unplugging and powering on....w/out any use of unit. -the red LED light comes on after plugging via a/c charge. After about 10 seconds, the LED light goes out...and indication that it's not charging. -Battery is a new battery, and is completely dead. -overall, it appears that unit starts a charge, then just stop charging. -I have removed and reinstalled battery several times after a charge start...it will charge for
I have a problem with charging my phone, no matter if via usb charger or AC-10 charger that came with the device. The problem is, charging indicator does not stop even after several hours of charging. Battery is charged at 98% or so. It happens very often, but not always.
My wife and I both have Atrix 4G phones. I frequently get a Popup window when I unplug the charger reminding me to unplug the charger. This happens both with my 12V to USB adapter plugged into my motorcycle and with the home charger from Motorola. Also, I lose the settings for my home wireless and have to re-enter everything. I've gotten notifications that I'm using up my data plan because I lose my wireless and emails then start downloading over the cell network without my knowing it. I'm about ready to get rid of the so called smart phone and go back to my basic cell phone.
I just bought a brand new Blackberry 8350i today and I don't think it's charging. The lightning bolt shows up on the battery indicator but then the bolt is gone after 5 seconds. Is it still charging? The user manual doesn't explain it much.
