since the update i have had bad battery life even without use and prior to the update my phone battery would show the display being the most used and now its the phone idle is there a reason why this is having such a high usage now when befor it was never high?

I look at my battery usage and find that Phone Idle is the largest user of my battery. While researching this I find tons of folks who are like "that's normal", but it is almost always even with cell standby. My usage is as follows right now (and this is what it's been like for the past 3 days): phone idle: 37%. Display: 23%, Voice calls: 15%, android OS 10%, Cell standby: 8%. Those are not the numbers anyone else I've spoken to that is running android is seeing. They are seeing phone idle running even or just below cell standby. I'm off battery for 8 hours and down to 25%. I won't make it home before I have to plug in the phone, and for the last 6 months my battery has been making it all day.

My battery life had improved a little but...Even when the screen is off and I'm not using the phone, Phone Idle takes up most of the energy while in that state. Last night Phone Idle was on 6:51:43 while the phone was off of the battery for 7:53:53.On top of this, the phone is awake almost all night. It does drain only a little bit at night.During use Phone Idle still is on much of the time. My phone drains rapidly when the screen is on.The phone has signal all day and night. This is my 3rd charge and I charged it for 3 hour for the first time like it said in the user manual. After it goes to 90% the battery holds good charge. It lasted me 12 hours with me playing around on it all night. Also I had my phone on for 2 days and I checked the phone up time in the settings and it said 55 mins. So I don't know if it has been rebooting itself maybe because of updates or a problem.

View 2 Replies View RelatedProud owner of a Photon for a few days now. For the most part, aside from some minor glitches, I LOVE this phone so far. It's great. However I have one big problem.At work I have a decent 4G signal at my desk. My prior Evo got 1-2 (out of 3) bars and stayed connected all day with zero problems. My Photon connects to 4G just fine, but if I don't keep sending traffic over the network to the point where the 4G goes into what I assume is power save mode -- where the icon shows ZZZ instead of signal strength -- it will often lose connection in a silent way.What I mean is that I can then attempt to use apps, etc and the 4G will not transfer data, but still thinks it's connected. I'm not sure yet whether or not it stays in ZZZ mode or if the icon shows signal strength again, but I know for sure apps do not transfer data. For example when I listen to music, ScrobbleDroid starts queueing messages instead of sending them, etc. Also, GMail and IMAP push stop working, so I stop receiving email notifications. That is a BIG problem for me.
The problem goes away immediately if I either shut off 4G, or toggle 4G (turn it off then on right away). The gtalk remains online while i am using xoom but then after standby time my status goes to idle for the friends in my contact list and if they send me any message in this state I cant receive them and if they try to call me then the caller party hears the bell that as if it should be while someone calls on gtalk but i cant get the notification of call or any ring. Why Gtalk cant get calls on my xoom although it seems online to others in standby mode......is it some bug in android?
Any use the Motorola Date and Time Widget? Mine seems to hang at night (seemingly about 20min after I plug it in for charging) and stays on yesterdays date and time until somehow it corrects itself the next day. There is no way to "activate it" or make it correct itself. All other clocks and calendars are correct.

I have noticed this device act like windows XP. What I am refering to is, the device OS is working but I try to open apps and nothing is happening, I can hit the home key and the apps button and they work but opening any apps nothing will happen. Sometime the apps will partialy open but sit there.
What i noticed when this is happening is the device is syncing. I am assuming it is doing my facebook, picasa, you tube, and twitter sync. Somethimes it recovers and works and sometimes it has the sync symbol an hour later and I have to reboot the device.
I have had my Blackberry 9700 for about 5 months. In the beginning I would get about three days out of my battery, with normal use. About a month ago I noticed the data symbol operating all the time (data in and data out) and my battery started lasting less than a day (even on days that it was hardly or never used). I took it back to Telstra (Australia) who sent it away and then provided me with a replacement (with no explanation of what was wrong with the first one.) Unfortunately the new one does exactly the same thing!
I have been on numerous websites looking for an answer to no avail. I have tried all the battery saving hints and check I leave nothing open. I have rebooted daily, still to no avail. I am on the brink of tossing it and going back to Nokia, which is a great shame as I had been really enjoying my Blackberry until now. I've found in the Market many apps named like "Anti-mosquito", which claim to be able to keep mosquitos away: indeed, they achieve this by playing high-pitched sounds which are annoying to mosquitos and - yes! - they work.
Of course, this can be done by just playing repeatedly high pitched sounds, which, depending on the kind of mosquito you want to get rid off, may be in the range from 14 to 25 KHz.
Since I don't know whether playing so highly pitched sounds for a long time could damage the phone, I've asked the Italian support. They looked confused, indeed.
At first, they asked which app was I asking about and said that, anyway, all apps from the Market "are developed and managed directly by Google" (sic).
Then, when I pointed out that, put aside the fact that apps in the Market are not being developed by Google, I wasn't talking about apps and software but of particular sounds and hardware, they escalated the question to their technical department.
I was asked again which app I wanted information about (!!) and then, after telling again that I meant nothing more than playing a 14-25 KHz-pitched mp3 for a long time, they answered that no, that may not harm the phone but they couldn't be 100% sure.
I've asked them about the audio playback hardware, about who produced it and whether those latter could answer. The final answer, that they suppose is enough to close my ticket, is that "nobody could say for sure that playing high-pitched tones for a long time wouldn't damage the phone".
This is a nonsense to me, since hardware must have technical specs. Does Motorola International have got a better answer?
I’ve got a BlackBerry Curve 8900 (ATT, running 4.2.0.108), and have had it since Oct. 2009. Battery life has always been OK - 24 to 48 hrs. between recharges.
Today though, after pulling it off the charger this morning around 8:00 a.m., I’ve noticed that I’m down to about 5% charge by 2:30 p.m. I have made no phone calls today, and have only sent/received a couple texts and rec’d two emails. I've never used a holster, have downloaded no apps, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are both off. No keys appear to be sticking. Absolutely nothing, to my knowledge, of any significance has changed on the phone since October, yet all of a sudden --literally, overnight --I am experiencing this greatly diminished battery life. The only even remotely precipitating factor I can think of is that I did a battery pull yesterday, after deleting some old photos and emails.
I’ve searched the forum, and most of the suggestions are along the lines of “turn off bluetooth/wi-fi/update OS,” but as noted, I never used those anyhow, and the OS has always been good to me.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm about to loose hope on my Nokia 5230. The first was the battery problem. It was empty in a day and a half on very moderate use (swiched off during the night). When I recalibrated the battery the things got better but still far away from the specs on Nokia site. And yes; I have tried all the tricks to save the energy (GSM only, 30% screen brightness, no bluetooth,....).
The second I discovered, that the GPS is basicly useless. It wont lock on the sattelites no matter what.The GPS was one of the main reasons to buy 5230. If someone got lucky to find some sattelites - how good is the accuracy? Is in the range of 6 meters or less as with Garmin?
Now I have discovered, that the clock is not showing the right time. It is loosing minutes as someone said to it that one hour has only 59 or 58 minutes. I still have to discover the logic how the clock is counting minutes. I have tried with and without automatic time update. By the way; the phone has the last firmware.
So if the clock is useless then the alarm is useless and I can't use it on my buisness trips.
Is there anyone else with the same problems? Is there any solution to this clock problem? Some settings I've missed?
Someone would say; for the price everything can not be perfect.
So, is this the logic (Nokia logic):
-we will put in the GPS, but because of a low price it won't find some sattelites
-we will put the battery in the phone but because of the low price it won't last more than two days
-the phone will have the clock but because of the low price it will not show the right time
On Pure Nexus rom with EX kernel, my battery indicator drops 2% at a time..
