Motorola Motoactv :: Will The Device Only Pair With Phones?
Feb 28, 2012
Im on the verge of getting the MOTOACTV but wanted to double check something. Will the device only pair with Motorla phones? I have a blackberry and want to make sure I can send and receive calls using the device paired via bluetooth.
I keep losing my pairing with my Droid X2. It still shows, but I can't connect. The MotoActv app won't let me drop it so I have to go into the bluetooth settings to unpair it then back into MotoActv to pair it again. I've had it two days and had to re-pair it three times. I'm not sure when, nor why, it stays connected for several hours then it's not connected and won't connect.
I'm not sure what causes it. I go out of range and return with the phone quite often. I wear the MotoActv as a watch, but the phone mostly stays in a docking cradle on the desk. I use an Timex Ant+ heart rate sensor and SD10-HD bluetooth stereo headphones. I'm not sure if it's connecting to those. The ability to receive text messages and take phone calls through it was a major factor in my purchase of this device. That's what edges out the Garmin and Timex products for me. This feature not working doesn't make it worthless, but it does make it a disappointment.
Does the MOTOACTV pair with the Polar Wearlink+ Bluetooth Coded Heart Rate Transmitter Set?? I belong to LifeTime Fitness and was disappointed to find out that all of their Cardio equipment only work with Polar Heartrate Monitors/Straps.I just bought my MOTOACTV a week ago. I need to buy a Heart Rate Strap. I understand it can work with both the ANT+ technology and BlueTooth.
I cant seem to get my verbal progress report when i tap my screen.take me though the settings to make sure i havent missed anything before i take it back to the shop?
so my Motoactv broke - I got a new one... went through set up - it included the option to "add device" which I selected my new workouts wont sync to the on line site - wifi works - and I plug it in to sync - both sya successful sync but they dont show up on my account on line?
When I click device update in MotoCast ->I get new software is avaialble for your MOTOACTV.
Current Version: MA 1.6.7 N8 New Version: MA 1.6.13 N8
I press 'Update Now'. A dialog appears Download 0% - then another dialog pops up "The update could not be downloaded. Prease try again. If the problem persisits, please visit our support site. Your device has not been updated."
I have been trying for 2 days with the same result as above. I tried unplugging device, using a different USB port, etc. nothing seems to work.
I plugged in the Moto and discovered that there was a device update. In light of problems I was having (described in a separate thread) I did not have time to let it run. Decided to do so in the evening, but was unprepared for the rigamarole I encountered. The device would not update until I updated Motocast, which took FOREVER. And after all of that, the Motoactv won't even update. The device manager box tells me that my Motoactv is running the most current software version and that that version is N/A. 0 for 2; my device is not running the current version and the version it is running is 1.7.2 N8, not N/A. That is not the version number I saw this morning when Motocast informed me that there was an update available.
Just got in from a run. Device won't sync, just sits there with 'syncing' on the screen for minutes on end. Also, the MA website won't let me into the workout data. It just says 'unable to process request'. Device synced fine Sunday, but not today. First elevation issue, not I can't even sync my workouts or view them.
I accidentally deleted a workout from the MOTOACTV site but still have it on my watch, how do I get it off after it no longer has that up/down sync icon?
All I get is the windows dialog that asks if I want to view the device as a file system, listen to music, etc. I have uninstalled the motoactv software, plugged my device in and re-installed the motoactv software, but I still only get one icon (the one with the two right angles) that says it is version 1.1.70 MotoCast for Windows. The device is updating the web with my workout fine..
My motoactv will not connect with Motorola Media Link via Motocast. It gives me an error message that says that the program has stopped working and shuts down the Motorola Media Link from syncing. Any word on what the problem could be? I have ripped and re-installed the program several times only to see Motorola Media Link work once.
Anytime I finish a workout I usually power down my device because it usually drains pretty quickly on "standby" (doesn't last more than a day or two if I'm not using but don't power off). However, two times in the past couple of weeks I've taken my device out and it was always on. I suppose it's possible I forgot to power down, but I doubt I would have done this twice in the past few weeks.
Last night was my 2nd night to use my new MotoActv (still on the fence w/ it) and upon scrolling through my music there were new songs on it that I have never seen before, were not there on the first night, I haver never bought, etc. Where did they come from? Very frustrating when I am trying to work out.
I just bought an 8GB MOTOACTV yesterday in Hong Kong and the existing version of software is 1.7.3 A8. I tried to install MOTOCAST on 2 PCs (system: WinXP & Windows Vista) and both are upgraded to 2.0.31, but when I check the software update for MOTOACTV itself, the MOTOCAST told me no update for me for the timebeing.
The fact is there is 1.7.11 A8 out there and maybe 1.7.12 A8 as the guy introduced me to buy have the exact same device (only this version in same store) with Golf function on. Meanwhile, when the device connect to WiFi yesterday evening, I saw once the words of "Software Update Availabe, please connect the computer to update" shown on the device.
how to change the Motoactv device to show miles instead of km? I cannot figure it out and I've searched online and through the manual. I have figured out how to do it on the Motoactv website where you can schedule workouts and view your information.... but I just cannot get the units changed on the device. I've gone through the device and tried the settings menu, but it didn't seem to be in there either.
I have repeatedly asked MotoCast to check for updates and it says no new updates exist. I have the 8 GB model. The FAQ page says the most recent update is 1.6.5 N8.
I don't know if this is an issue with the current software on the MOTOACTV or not, but I am not that happy with this. The ability to answer calls during runs was one of the primary reasons I went with this watch. I had since changed my phone as well to take advantage of it. Now that I have the SF600, I am still unable to answer calls on the motoactv and, when answered on the phone, the headset does not route the call. What am I missing?Equipment:Phone - Droid RAZRMotoactv - 8GB w/system version 4.55.78
This used to work, so not sure if something changed, but a few days ago I added a bunch of running workouts to the calendar on the Planning tab at Motoactv.com and after syncing the device several times, still no workouts show when I go to Running->Outdoor->Planned. This screen shows "No Planned Workouts Available. Plan your workouts on MOTOACTV.com" These are non-interval workouts that were added.
All the right boxes are checked- I want it to load four episodes that I haven't listened to yet. Two of them are gray on my device "file type not supported" (they are both mp3s, same as the episodes I've listened to) The last time I attempted to sync, inexplicably it REMOVED all of the podcast episodes from my device, when I was trying to ADD several new ones. Spent an hour on customer service tonight speaking with a fellow who did not seem to understand what a podcast is.
MA 1.6.6. N16 Playing music works ok but the first time this happened it was after 1 hour. Then I get a popup dialog saying "You must set a fit song". The music then skips through the song and then skips songs continually.
This happens everytime I workout. Today it happened after 20 minutes Since I have never set a fit song I tried to set one. I had to turn off the music.
This only started happening after the last update to the one shown above.
Is the website working for others? My recent workout page just shows me a generic description of how motoactv works and says that I've haven't uploaded any data yet...
After I owned my Motoactv for about a month, the device refused to sync workouts. I tried everything with the help of tech support, and finally sent the device into Motorola for repair. It came back with a note saying everything was great. Unfortunately, that did not solve the problem (music would sync, but workout sync was always "failure").I decided to try creating an entirely new account for the motoactv, and that actually worked. I have no idea why, but it worked and I have not had any problems for the past month with syncing. The only thought I have as to why is that just before the device "broke" I had tried to schedule a workout from the website for a pre-determined route for bicycling, but oddly the workout never showed up on the device. The Motorola tech support, though thoughtful, was completely unable to resolve this, even when I sent the device in for repair.I do wish I could try the schedule workout again to pre-plan a route for running or biking, but I don't want to have to come up with yet another new account on a new email address (I have run out of email addresses).
I'm evaluating if Motoactv will be suitable for my needs as minimizing weight carried is a big concern. Will be going upto 16k feet - So I wont have access to a computer for 25-30 days to move the data to the website etc. the unit will be powered off only at night. My aim is to track at minimum heart rate, pedometer, altitude, route mapping, temperature.
Q1 - Assuming I can supply the actv enough power via solar chargers etc. Will it be able to store all the tracked data for such a long period?
Q2 - I can also carry a tablet - I also need advice on if its possible to move data from the actv via usb to the tablet ( assume zero internet connectivity )
Since downloading OS upgrade, two of us with 9670 can't pair a new bluetooth device. Enabling bluetooth does not stay "on" and the option to add a new device or show any paired devices does not appear anywhere.
Is there a way to connect to a bluetooth device that requires a code to be entered? I am trying to connect to my Microsoft Sync radio so I can stream music. The MA detects the Sync but when I click on it it just says connection fails. The Sync requires that you enter a code so I assume this is the reason for the connection failure.
I had to do a factory reset (finess sync had stopped working); how do I get the workout data back onto the device?Right now it says ""No Recent Workouts Recorded".
I had a great workout this morning, but when I was done, the calorie count was at 111. I worked out for 50 minutes and was expecting this to be at least 600.
When I uploaded the data, the calorie count stopped at about 10 minutes into the workout and the distance also stopped incrementing. I had heart rate information, but it was much lower than what I expected (I was working out much harder than the heart rate information shows.).
The image shows the results of the data. what could have caused this malfunction of the device?
