Motorola Motoactv :: Does Adding Cadence Fix GPS Cutting Out

I spend most of my time with the MOTOACTV trail running and mountain biking. This thing that annoys me the most is the software doesen't correct for gps loss. it just reads as I wasn't moving for a set amount of time. If I were to add a footpod for running...or speed/cadence for riding...would the software average the movements over time---or still cut out (record as not moving) as it does when I lose GPS signal when in heavily covered areas?

I just got my MOTOACTV and I love it.. I ride a stationary bike both at the gym and at home and I have yet to purchase the bike sensor.. while I understand I cannot monitor cadence or speed, I am trying to monitor my HR. I selected eliptical trainer for a ride just so that my HR would show up.. is there any way to simply monito your HR?

I want to buy an ant+ Cadence sensor which is really inexpensive and I'd like to know if I could pair it and use it as a SPEED sensor for my bike. Since a cadence sensor just counts how often the magnet passes by it then I guess they are the same as speed sensor.What would be the steps to complete this? or are the profiles baked in the firmware of the sensors and there's no way for the Motoactv to profile it as a different type of sensor?

I just realized that if you add a manual workout...which on MA website under reecent workouts it allows you to do it...
It lets you manually add the mileage, duration, calories???, date..
it does NOT allow for HR's, Notes, time of day...not sure why
And then when you look on both graphs it says no raw data...So, you cant see any of the details at all??

So I'd like to add my local bike trails to the maps that are built-in to motoactv. Anyone have any idea on how to do this? Or if this is even posible? I'm about to start looking to the internal map files but I thought I'd post it up here to see if anyone else had looked at this.Right now I have my local trails in google earth as paths. I know you can add routes to my motoactv but this doesn't work very well for a complete trail system. And then I have to decide ahead of time which trail I'm going to take that day. I'd much rather just look down and see all the connections wtih my position included on my motoactv.

Just recently purchased the MotoActv heart rate monitor - but I am having a bit of an issue.
I have a personal trainer, and I came to find that when I work out with her I am forced to use one of the options that is pre-set of the watch already, because there is no "weight lifting" option set. The default settings on the watch right now are mainly cardio options, including Stairs, eliptical, walking, running, jogging, etc. When I weight train with my trainer, I always just set it to the running option, but my calories are way off.
if there is a way to set a Weight lifting option to the watch?

I'm just getting used to my new droid 3, and learning all of the quirks that come with it. In the past, I used my old Droid Eris to listen to Pandora over 3G wireless at work, and never had any issue with Pandora cutting out or stopping even when the phone's display went to sleep. However, on my new Droid 3, it cuts out like clockwork after about 20 minutes, whether or not the display is active or asleep. In order to try to keep this from happening I have changed the Battery mode to performance, turned off data saver (no sense running it streaming music ) and in Pandora turned auto shutoff to Never, and have tried Auto lock both on and off. I am thinking that the built in task manager may be killing it?

I've had my Motorola Defy for about 3 months now. It seems to randomly cuts out during a call. I get a few words in then it cuts out and I have to ring again and it does the same thing. This is the first smartphone I bought. Previously I used a bog standard Nokia. Very reliable. No problems. Clear calls. Never cut-out. Now I pay 20 times as much for a "smart" phone and the most basic and important job - making calls - it has trouble with.

Anybody having problems with mp3 playback skipping cutting out etc? All are stored on a 8gb micro SD card and not in the phone. All these files played perfectly on my old blackberry curve 8530. I use my phone as mp3 player so would like this resolved. The skipping/cutting out isn't bad but very noticeable when listening with ear buds.

Every since the jellybean update I've had nothing but problems. The device is always running slow, it is not smooth like butter there is a lag. And when I'm listening to music its cuts in and out as if it were a scratched cd. I've tried doing a factory restore and it didn't help. That's what Verizon suggested and it didn't work. Also Verizon's fix to everything is to send out a certified refurbished phone and I don't want that. I bought my phone brand new and I know nothings happened to my phone I don't want to a phone I know nothing about. Also I've noticed that not one of all the call recording apps work on the droid razr hd.

Since the Ice Cream Sandwich Update, my Jawbone Icon Headset cuts off while my Mobile HotSpot is on. The Jawbone headset will go on and off until I turn off the HotSpot. No one at Motorola can fix the problen.

I've owned the MotoActv for two month, I got the mysterious "moisture issues" that everyone seems to be getting even though I've never used it in the rain. But the thing that is driving me nuts is the music. When I hit random shuffle of all my songs, I hear songs I don't want to hear... song that I do not own on my computer. Where are these songs coming from? Today I heard "Boot Scoot Boogie!" I abhore country music as does my wife. Doing a computer wide search shows no evidence that the song exists on my computer. Yet there it is playing in mile four. Other mystery songs have showed up too. The performance music playlist seems to be filled with songs I never heard of, yet evidently I perform well to them.

I'm basically re-posting information that you can find on the internet if you look long enough.I spent 20+ hours figuring out how to put ring-tones, wallpapers, and JAVA programs on the i290.
First, you need a mini usb to usb cable. It doesn't have to be one branded for Motorola.Don't let yourself get suckered. Any cable, as long as its mini usb, will work.
Second, you need to install drivers for your phone. If you don’t know how to do this, quit while you're ahead. A Google search for Motorola i290 modem drivers should point you to them.
Third, you need content to put on your phone. Wallpapers are easy. Just make sure the resolution is 130 x 130 pixels and they're a .jpg format. I don't remember all the supported formats. Again, Google is your best friend. Ring tones take some work. First you need to obtain some songs that you want on your phone. I do not advocate illegal downloading.I'm not even sure what I'm about to show you is legal. The moderators can erase this post and ban me if they want. I'm putting the info out there, not forcing people to use it.
Now that the legal poo is out of the way, once you have your future ring tones, you need to convert them to a usable format. Supposedly the phone supports mp3. I haven't found the magic formula for this yet. I've been using wav files. Download Audacity. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ You'll also need the Lame mp3 add-on. Open your song with Audacity. Pick out 20 seconds of the song that you want to become your ring tone. You can do a little longer, but you're dealing with very limited space on this phone. 6-7 Megabytes max, and that space is shared for ring tones, wallpapers, text messages and God knows what else.Make your 20 second clip into an mp3 by copying it to a new Audacity window and exporting it as an mp3. Don't worry about sample rate. You'll fix that in the next step. Download dbpoweramp. http://www.dbpoweramp.com/ Scroll down until you see Audio Conversion. I think it’s only a 21 day trial. After that, you’re on your own. Right click your new 20 second mp3 and select convert to. In the Converting to box, click Wave. Then highlight the radio button Compressed. Click Settings. Format PCM. Attributes 8.000kHz, 8 Bit, Mono 7kb/sec. Click OK. Then click Convert. The new file should be output to the same directory as the original. If not, search your computer for songname.wav

Or you could download the .JAD files and upload then yourself.Which brings me to the last part. Loading all this stuff you have onto the phone. You need a program for that. Something like ***** MediaPAL or another similar program for IDEN phones. These programs cost money folks. Probably should have told you that sooner. I'll tell you that they cost less than the $2.99 per ringtone and wallpaper that you pay to Boost. If you’re crafty, you'll find a way to get the program. I have ***** MediaPAL.Launch your program of choice. Connect to the phone.Load your media and press send.Hopefully you're tech savvy enough to follow these instructions.If the post does get nixed, you can always email me @ my hotmail.

I am trying to add a photo to one of my contacts as their display picture , but when I try to "set as contact icon" this message flashes up: "the set SIM contact icon is not supported" I have tried adding other photo's to my contacts, but I get the same message.

I copied pictures for each of the movies I have on my XOOM wifi SD card.Thinking if I named them the same as the movies,the XOOM would match the names and pick up the thumbnails,but no.Is there a way to get the movie posters (thumbnails) to show up in the movie gallery on the videos?

I go through the contact list and there are addresses for people I never heard of or emailed. Then my Yahoo mail was hacked after I noticed this. It seems the phone takes all the people in my address book and does a google search or facebook search and it will actually add a photo of the person (which I do not want) and it will not let me delete these new mysterious entries?All VErizon said was I have to make sure contact sync in unchecked in the phone which is it but in Gmail there is no place to unsync contacts. I don't use Facebook, Twitter, or any other socila media site and I want my privacy protected.This is a huge issue because I had a stalker and it cost me a great deal of time and money getting restraining orders and moving from place to place while being located every time.
This is dangerous for me and the phone will not turn off my GPS or stop adding these people in my contacts that may have been on a website I visited. That's the only way I can figure this happened and the Yahoo mail got hacked at the same time.I don't know what elese to do, the phone is locked, the credential password is very hard to remember much less guess and everything is off. No GPS< no sync with anything accept the calendar via Gmail which I made sure is set to PRIVATE.My Gmail profile is also PRIVATE. If I logged in on a PC it will ask do you want to make your profile public so people can find you?
I don't see what type of FILTER I'm suppose to add in my Gmail account to stop this contact sync? Or contact list that grows and grows while I have done nothing.Weirder yet the Verizon rep said it happens when you connect the phone to a PC, that's why she said I need this filter to stop contacts from being added. But I don't have a PC anymore, it broke a few weeks ago and this incident happened last week. The phone wasn't connect to a PC for 6 weeks.Does anyone know how to make me private and stay private. I don't want any contacts added in my phone or Gmail unless I manually add them period. I don't send updates, don't want to and don't want updates from any one else.

I can add/edit a birthday on a contact selecting only the month and day. **This is our preferred method**
My husband's Droid Turbo: For some reason, he is forced to enter a year and that messes with the Birthdays Calendar on his google account. Birthdays entered on his contacts do not display ever year on his calendar.
Question: How do we remove the year requirement and get his screen to look like mine?

I love my Atrix HD but one key feature that is missing is the ability to enable and disable LTE mode. By that I do not mean just turning on and off data services. Many other Android phones have the ability to select the radio band that you wish to use. It gives the owner of the product the ability to move down to 3G or Edge service if he or she wishes. As it is now we are all forced into LTE mode.
