I finally got my Xoom this week, and am absolutely loving it! I was looking to install Elixir on it so that I could build custom widgets, but it isn't supported on the Xoom. I was wondering if anyone know a working alternative to Elixir. If you don't know what it is you can read more about it here. I have it on my DroidX and love it. There are countless tasks you can build into the widgets.
View 3 RepliesHas anyone investigated/reverse engineered what protocol the watch uses to communicate home, e.g. is a HTTP connection used, is it encrypted/protected with certificates, etc. If it was straight plaintext, we could at least have a backup solution if Motorola stops supporting the device and drops the portal... Must say I'm getting nervous about lack of Motorola feedback

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am very interested in the DroidX, but the virtual keyboard does not have any means to move the cursor- so if you mis-type a character, you have to either perfectly position your finger & delete the wrong letter & re-type, or delete the whole word & re-type. Why is there seemingly no way to move the cursor position on the DroidX keyboard & is there any software that does implement this?Also, will the Droid X be able to upgrade to AndroidOS v3?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI bought the device few days ago and on very same day updated to Android ver. 3.2. I use internet over my home Wifi and have a Netgear - WGR614 router. The browsing speed is very very slow and most sites dont open.The signal strength shown in xoom is - (-105 dBm 3 asu).Is this a issue with Android 3.2 update or my home wifi is weak? Would i be able to reset the tab to the original version?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was always using on other phones with Android 2.2 FroYo that 3G mobile hotspot feature, which was included right in the Android system under Wireless Networks settings.Now in Defy there is no option like that under settings in FroYo. Defy includes own app called 3G Mobile Hotspot, which should work like that option for creating mobile WiFi hotspots in other Android phones. But here is the problem.On my older phone with Android 2.2 I could create 3G WiFi hotspot wherever I needed and it worked. But now, with Defy, when I use that application 3G Mobile Hotspot, it writes me error when creating WiFi hotspot "Cannot set up data link, please contact your service provider" I suppose it is something with my carrier (Vodafone_CZ), but when I used 3G WiFi hotspots on older phones (which had that feature included right in Android settings menu) it worked without problems and I a used mobile phone for 3G internet sharing with my laptop.Now I remember, that I have deleted some DUN profile under APN Internet profiles, could it be that problem, that 3G Mobile Hotspot app is not working?how to create WiFi hotspot on my Defy for example with some other app?Or if not, how can I use Internet Tethering in Defy Mobile Networks menu via Bluetooth (my laptot has BT). I dont know, what should I set in my laptot to use Defy like BT 3G Internet provider and I dont know, if Internet Tetherig via BT is not charged at my carrier (I know, that the 3G WiFi hotspot feature was not extra charged..) so for that reason I would like to make it working on my Defy.

Has anyone had any success with using Wifi that required user certificates? I'm trying to get my Xoom to connect to the corporate network (EAP-TLS) and followed the instructions for the IPad and imported my certificated into Android correctly. But when I connect, it hangs at the connecting state for minutes, before finally giving up.

Phone is locked and asking for an Alternative Password. How can I provide a Alternative Password when I didn't set one? Is there a way to unlock the phone so I can use it without doing a factory reset and loosing all my information. If there is no way to get in ....is there a way to do a backup so I do not loose VIP information that has been stored?

This is something I need to get sorted to enable me to continue trying to solve my other problem of updating my firmware that failed.I need to find an ingenious way of charging my battery other than in the phone. When I bricked my phone trying to install new firmware I also inadvertently drained my battery too and as the phone has lost the nohow of how to charge the battery I need an alternative way of doing so. I don't know of anyone that has an X10 (sad isn't it) nor a phone big enough to host my battery for charging.Hoping there's some blue peter badge wannabe's out there that can come up with something.

i just purchased a galaxy s5 a couple months ago and i have chosen the fingerprint security option as my main entry to my phone. however the option to use the scanner is not available for some reason right now on my phone. it is asking me to use my alternative password which i do not remember because i have been using the finger print scanner for so long. Other applications use WLAN, because it has a higher priority on my "Internet" destination in Connection settings.Chat doesn't seem to have any options at all to select the access point it uses.

I mean the same function happens as by holding down the menu button or just tapping options, open applications.Was this functionality always there, and I was the only one that didn't know about it? I bought an Otterbox which means a battery pull for my Tour (Verizon) is a pain in the you know what. I had Quickpull until it got lost with a RIM 5.0 update. I go back to appworld and everybody is complaining about Quickpull. Are there other alternatives? Someone suggested bbhybrid in another thread. Do they help? What do they do? Do I 86 RIM software on my BB in order to use hybrid software?

View 5 Replies View Relatedi got S5 and i have an issue, weird one.. i was on my device normally and then i locked it and after 10 minutes i got a call and tried to unlock the device after it ( i was using Finger print ) but it wasn't there, It's just " Enter alternative password " nothing else , there is no unlock with E-mail or anything, just the "enter alternative password" and actually i can't remember it so what to do ? it's lil bet weird but i can't unlock my device
