Motorola Droid Turbo :: Moto Actions Not Working (Approach)
Jan 27, 2015
So I noticed that my moto action (approach) stopped working on my phone.
I know some people hate this feature because it seems to wake up the phone unnecessarily, but in terms of impact to battery it's minuscule to none.
I actually like this feature because using the power button to wake up the phone seems rather inconvenient after having gotten used to the approach feature.
The problem is that it suddenly stopped working for me. I know that people are going to ask if I enabled this in the moto actions menu, it's definitely turned on. I rebooted the phone several times with it on and off. None of those measures have worked.
I have my phone set to respond to "OK Google Now". When I am not connected to Bluetooth, this works great. When connected to BT, the Moto Voice Blue "Listening" window pops up, then minimizes/closes after 1 second. This did not happen with KitKat.
How I can best use Moto Voice to create and add to a to-do type list? I see it can set a reminder but the reminder requires you to enter a due time/date or location and I don't really need to do that. I just want to be able to have Moto Voice add something to a simple list. I have tried the "Note to self:" command but that seems to just send an email to your gmail account and since I don't use gmail, that really isn't useful for me either. Any simple list that can be voice controlled (at least to add to the list)?
My Turbo connects to my car via Bluetooth. Whenever I disconnect (turn off the car) the Moto voice app launches and is listening- like this [URL] ..... Is this supposed to happen? This seems like a bug.
Both devices updated to latest OS Lollipop 5.1 on Turbo and 5.1.1 on Moto 360.
Making phone calls using hand set, everything seems fine. Then two about 10 seconds into the call I notice that I can't hear anything in the Turbo handset earpiece. When I look at the setting on the phone screen I notice that the connection has switched from "handset" to bluetooth. The only bluetooth device that is connected is the Moto 360.
When I switch it back to "handset" or "speaker" it works fine again. And when I switch back, the person on the other end of the call says: "Now I can hear you much better again, for a time you were very soft/far away" -- I'm assuming that is because they are hearing my voice picked up by my watch's microphone and not my droid turbo.
I just bought the new Droid turbo. I have figured out how to get all of the apps I want to notify me when I have something new however I cannot get email (I'm using Gmail as my email) to notify me when I have a new email what am i doing wrong it's checked off i even checked it under moto it's one of the ones checked off as well what am I doing wrong???....
My phone started having this pop up on the screen. I have to push "ok" to get it to close. It even pops up at night when my "night clock" is on - blocking out the time on the screen.
Anyone know of a web site that lists Smart Actions that folks have created? Seems to me that this would be a great thing to share. I can see where the Smart Actions app could be very useful.
Prior to the lollipop update everything was working fine. Now if I am listening to something on the Audible app or Pocketcast app the Google Maps voice will not break in with directions. There will just be a brief silence where it is trying to speak but no actual voice. If I pause the book or music the maps voice works. If I turn the Bluetooth on the phone off the voice breaks through just fine on the phone speaker. It's very frustrating.
I have read as many threads as I can find, but I still have this problem. I delete all the Smart Actions and that works for a while, then it comes back again. According to Status, my system is up to date
I have a Droid Turbo. Sometime today the little microphone button on my home page has stopped working when pressed. It only happens on my homepages on the phone, so if I tap on Google and bring up the browser page or then I can tap on the microphone and talk.
If I'm on the Home Screen; however, I can press it again and again and it is totally unresponsive. I have tried:
-turning the phone off and on again, - going onto home-screen settings and turning google search on and off - downloaded a anti-virus program suggested by a friend with the same phone and done searches.
This may seem like a rather small issue, but I use that microphone button a lot when using my phone.
Getting a battery life increase with the smart actions app completely disabled. Before it was constantly running in the background even with no actions on so yesterday I disabled it completely and saw a very noticeable battery increase.does it really happened due to removal of smart actions app ?
see Smart Actions include the ability to control MEDIA volume in addition to the existing ringtone volume. The best examples of when this might come in handy:In the car, being able to turn media volume up to loud so you can stream music through your stereo and control it entirely through the car stereo. I find mysef always having to find my phone and turn media up on the phone first, so I don't accidentally blow a speaker when I get in the car without the phone connected. At work being able to turn the media volume to mute. This way I can sneak a round of Scramble or Words with Friends in without my cube neighbors hearing the tell tale sounds of the games.
More recently, my droid turbo has been turning rainbow colors instead of black with the time when it's charging. If I press the lock button myself, the phone will lock and stay black with the time. If I unlock my phone and let it be, it'll turn to the rainbow colors. I have my phone on the turbo charger when this happens!
"Okay Google" not working from locked screen or timed out dark screen. I noticed this befoer the update that it stopped and didn't work after update either.Under Language and Input >Voice Input>Enhanced Google Service>OK Google detection>... I have all 3 options on - 'from google app', 'from any screen', 'Personal results'
After several months of going thru various LG, Nokia and Htc phones, I couldnt pull the trigger on who I was going to give my next 2 years to. And if any of you have been with Verizon for a while you guys know how we cherished that NE2 (new every 2 yrs and 100 dollars towards it)....lol. With Verizon pushing the Blackberry and tons of dumbphones (2009) I even considered changing carriers. So after months of media hype I decided to wait before the change. In Dec of 2009 I got a OG Droid. Awesome phone which my daughter uses now. In Dec 2010 I got a Droid X and in Dec 2011 I got a Moto Xoom wifi. I chose the Xoom this year instead of a phone because I honestly feel that the DX2 and the Bionic shouldve been 1 phone instead of 2 phones tryning to fill gaps till the Razor came out.....thats another story for another time......To sum it all up: The OG droid will always be one of the phones that changed the market! The first android phone that was released to Verizon's Captive Audience with only blackberrys and dumbphones to choose from.....
"i got a droid at a really cheap price, yes time to activate it! oh, whats that verizon? you say its on the stolen list? so yeah i want to resell my droid so i can get my money back, but selling it blacklisted wont give me much a return. so i want to flash it to cricket. but i want to do it on my own. i would really appreciate it if someone could walk me through the process of flashing it to cricket. id be glad to cut you in on a percentage of the sale if you'd like. please i want someone whos done this before and knows what they're doing.
My Motorola Droid is a battery eater. I expected this when the phone was on, but it also is when powered off (I mean POWERED OFF by holding the power key and selecting Power Off, not just put in Standby or Airplane Mode). I turned it off with a fully charged battery and put it away for the night. Eight hours later, I turned it on and the battery was at 60%. The only way I can prevent this from happening is by removing the battery. The battery use indicator doesn't help much.
I was wondering whether this is a known Droid problem. I got the phone used from Verizon Wireless after I lost my other phone, which was an HTC Eris. The Eris ate battery when on but not when shut down. If this problem is specific to my phone I need to talk to Verizon about it.
Moto droid: I have had the droid since the release, and all is well except that the keyboard doesnt lay down like when it was new, and seems to get worse with time,The adhesive seems to be gone from letters a to k on the top 3 rows and from the alt key to the @ key
Just wonder if there is any fix.I searched the forum but didn't find any solutions (wrong keywords possibly) Thanks in advance for any "useful" advice or solution
After I updating my phone to android 2.1, QPST says their is no phone connected even thought HW VSP connects to 192.168.16 port 11008 that is my Moto droid. What do I do?? How do I make QPST detects my phone again. Already tried reinstalling all..
Is there a way to replace a broken screen on the Moto Droid? Even with protection, it was dropped and shattered. I saw a link on how to disassemble the DroidX, but how can you get a new screen?
I want to take full advantage of HD video camera on my Droid Turbo, and found an external lavalier lapel microphone (Audio Technica 3350iS, which comes with an adapter for "smartphones including iPhone and newer Android phones"). But even when I use the adapter, the video recorder will only use the phone's on board mic. How can I disable/mute the onboard mic? Scoured the interweb, and at one point there was a perfect app "Mute Mic", but the NSA or Google or Motorola decided it was too useful to live.
A while back, I downloaded Google Calendar 5.2. That obviously created duplicate calendars (stock and 5.2). Any reminder or event added to the newer calendar showed up on the older one. I had hoped that with various updates, the old calendar would be removed. How can I get rid of the old calendar?
