Motorola Droid :: Bluetooth Dialing On Original V2.2.2?
Apr 19, 2011
Using the Moto H17 headset. When I try to use bt dialing sometimes it understands who I'm trying to dial and sometimes it doesn't. Either way it dials without waiting for confirmation. this has caused many embarrassing moments as I try to explain why I dialed someone I didn't need to call. I hesitate to hang up because I then get a call from the recipient of the errant dialing asking "Did you call me? What did you want?"
I got my Droid Turbo about 10 days ago. Previously I had a Droid Razr Maxx for about 2.5 years. I had a Bluetooth hands free device mounted on my visor where when I hit a button it would speak "Please say a command" and I could respond with "Call Bob Smith Home" and it would work. I then got a Pioneer radio and it behaved exactly the same and worked very well.
Now, I get my Droid Turbo and expect similar results but it doesn't work? I can "sometimes" hear the first part of the phone/car stereo asking me to say a command but it is broken up and sometimes I hear nothing at all. If I look at the phone I can see that it is waiting for a command. If I say "Call Bob Smith Home" it comes up with Bob Smith but nothing happens? Also, if I say "Ok Google" and then say "Call Bob Smith Home" a DIFFERENT type screen comes up and WILL make the phone call.
In playing with my phone it seems like the phone comes with multiple voice command type "programs". I think there is the Google Voice, Moto something, and is there maybe even something else? Anyway, I'd just like my bluetooth voice dialing to work. Do any of you have a recommendation on how to get this work or use one of the phone's other voice recognition ones that will work?
if I dial a contact via the Razr's voice command using my Bluetooth headset, the call connects, but neither party can hear audio. If I dial by selecting the contact manually, using the same Bluetooth headset, the call connects normally and audio is fine. The headset is a Jabra 250 and I don't have easy access to another Bluetooth device at the moment. Can't tell if this is a sw or hw issue on the Razr or the headset (which is an older model but still works just fine with original Droid Razr).
I recently purchased a Q2 blue ant bluetoooth to be used with my XPRT. When I attempt to call a contact using the bluetooth device, I get an audio message that states "activating your phone in built voice command on the connected phone." "This feature is not supported on your connected phone" then my phone will display "complete action using voice commands" So in essence I have to tap the voice dialer app to make a call. So, is there another bluetooth device that is truly handsfree voice dialing that can be used with this phone?
My bluetooth keeps disengaging especially after transferring between a phone call and listening to music. Voice activated dialing takes forever to boot up on my Atrix.
Whilst on a call this morning my phone randomly called Orange answer phone and put my original call on hold, I cancelled the answer phone call and went back to original then within the next minute the original call went quiet and I heard the ringing tone and discovered it was randomly calling a number (it was not a saved contact and I had to go through history later to see where it had come from and found it was a call I had received last Saturday - so not even a call in recent history) I have no speed dials set up - I did double check this! When prompted I did the latest upgrade last week to v7.1 bundle 1149(v7.1.0.342 - platform 5.1.0.276) and was pleased was prompted to do this as it included the update to wifi calling which I need in certain areas though I didn't have it enabled today.
I had put my comment in another post, but by the looks of it, it had never been addressed by any Motorola expert/employee, etc. Upon allowing my phone to sit, or after a reboot I can only make one phone call that is dialed at what I would call a rapide pace. It is what appears to be every call after that where I have a problem. In other words, I find the person in my contacts, select to dial it (or I input the phone number) and it just sits there. It can be anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute until ti finally dials.
I have a moto droid on VZW. I have it connected to my BT, but voice dial doesn't seem to function. Once I start a call I can then talk on the BT and that works very good.
When trying to text from my Droid X2 it just locks up, it won't do anything. Even if I press the off button, it won't pick up when I press the power off on the screen. It also does this sometimes when i'm playing a game. This happens no less than several times a day.I have reset my task manager to shut things down, but it's still not helped.
The release notes for Gingerbread make note of automatic dialing of conference call codes from the calendar entry:
Easy conference dialing allows you to dial the conference number and the meeting code will be automatically entered directly from your Calendar.
I have not be able to get this function to work, nor have I been able to find any references to it in the manuals or support sites. how the numbers have to be formated in the calendar entry?? Is the a 'special' field that they have to be entered?
lack of audible tones on keypad presses when dialing a phone number? Even though the setting is turned on and the volume levels maxed? It is not a show stopper but IS supposed to work and does give feedback that the number was accepted when pressed etc.
Way back when, when I had the original Droid, there was a plain phone icon for the direct dial short cut in the original software before the first upgrade. It was the shape of an old style telephone handset, the kind you'd find on a pay phone (for those of you who know what that is/was). I'd like to find one like that again and replace the tiny contact face pic with the various symbols and shading covering it of the native direct dial icon.
I haven't used my original Droid in about 2 months. The last time I used it, no problems. Booted up, used it, shut it down. I go to turn it on, and nothing... to be expected, dead battery. So I think I charged the battery. The charging light turns on. The backlight turns on, and that's it. It just stays like that. It either automatically does that when I plug it into a charger (car, home, or usb on computer), or if its unplugged, when I push the power button. Other than a black screen with the backlight turning on, I get nothing. This is not a stock rom on this phone. It's been a WiFi/Bluetooth toy for about a year now.I've tried powering it on while holding the "X" key, and it doesn't get me into the boot loader, just the black screen.
Unless I'm missing something, a comma no longer functions as a pause in the dialing system for a saved contact since the update. It used to be handy for dialing extension numbers, authorization codes etc. but they seem to be ignored after the update. There is also no apparent way to edit a phone number with any character other than the ones on the dialpad.
I sync contacts with a corporate Exchange / Outlook account. I can manage contacts on the phone or PC. Any contact who has say a business, home or mobile number and a fax number specified, if I go to the dialer, start typing their name, it does show the contact and a number (no indication of type such as fax or cell) so I tap that choice. Sadly, no, I can't just tell from looking at the number if it is fax or not. The phone dials the fax # which of course is incredibly annoying to my ear and that this dumb phone doesn't know not to try a fax number as the first choice for any contact who has a fax number.
I know I can set the default number per contact but I have hundreds of contacts and to go through each one to see if they have a fax and change it would really suck. Is there seriously no way to tell the phone not to use fax as first choice by default?
I cannot dial or initiate an outgoing call using my Car's Bluetooth system, if the screen is locked. If I try to dial out using my car's system, i.e either using numbers stored in car's speed dial or voice dialing feature. it simply doe not work. But when I look at the phone and unlock the screen, phone starts dialing out.
This totally defeats the purpose of hand free Bluetooth system, in the car. I never has this issue with any other phone, including Nexus 4, Galaxy Nexus and Galaxy S3 or various versions of iphone.
I've been able to get my X2 to connect to my 2010 VW via bluetooth to make & receive calls, but it won't connect to play music off the phone via the car speakers. The option is checked (to allow Bluetooth audio) in the car's menu.
I am not a big on using a bluetooth device (dont like things haning off my ear) what is a good bluetooth device to use with the D4, also, is a plug in type worth getting.
Before I had the Vehicle Navigation Dock, when I turned on navigation and the radio was on, the turn by turn voice went through the car radio. If the radio was off, it played through the phone speaker. Now that I have the dock, if Bluetooth is active, the voice doesn't play at all. I have to turn Bluetooth off in the phone to hear the turn by turn. This isn't optimal because then I can't use the phone over bluetooth. Is there a setting to have the voice always go over the phone speaker?
I was recently given a LG HBS-700 Bluetooth headset which I love but I have been having problems a few times a day with it disconnecting while I listen to music. After it disconnects it will be silent then my music will blare out the phone which I hurridly pause/mute so not to disturb my co-workers and get in trouble with my boss. Sometimes it will re-connect on its own or I manually turn off the headset and turn back on and it will be fine. It maybe happens twice a day. It has even happened while on a call before but not alot which I dont talk alot on the phone. I use it pretty much all day while at work. I have asked LG support about it but they have 'no known issues' and suggested I check with Motorola to see if this phone should be compatible with the headset.
I'm paying the tethering fee for my phone and would like to know how to setup Bluetooth tethering using the DUN (Dial-Up Networking) profile. I can tether using the PAN (Personal Area Network) profile but I have some devices that only support the DUN profile (no WiFi either) . Are there any official instructions anywhere?
My Droil Pro last week worked fine with Sync and Blue Tooth. Then it started to disconnect. After connecting to Sync, in a about 15 seconds it will suddenly disconnect from Sync The Blue Tooth is still connected and it will stream music from my phone to Sync with no problems but the phone will not stay connected.
I've had my Bionic for a couple weeks now and love 99% of it. My problem is when I try to use hands free calling with my Clarion CX609 head unit, the microphone does not connect. I hear the call through the speakers as expected but the phone is still using the built in microphone. After the OTA release of 5.9.902 I still don't have connectivity to my external microphone.I had a Blackberry Tour and it connected and worked perfectly fine. I would think my Bionic would work in the same manner only better.
I get in my car, where my car stereo has already been paired with my droid X2. The phone and the data both connect most of the time on it's own, sometimes I have to go into teh settings and tell it to connect. The main issue is, I will open an application I use to play audiobooks (Ambling) and start an audio book, which works fine. However, 90% of the time when I turn the screen off the phone will then proceed to restart. It will continue this behaviour until I shut down and power back on the phone, at which point everything works just fine. However as soon as leave my car, go into work or the store or whatever, and come back out to my car the chances are high I'll have to go through it again.
My car's bluetooth (2011 Honda Odyssey) was working perfectly with my Droid X (which had "FroYo" 2.2 software). Due to problems with my phone, Verizon had me update to the newest software (2.3, called "Gingerbread"). I now cannot pair the Droid with the car. I have called Verizon and Motorola both, who both stated that the most likely culprit was the car. Honda states that it is compatible with "Gingerbread" on newer phones, but not certain if it is on the original Droid, and Motorola has not sent a sample for Honda to test for the original Droid. What do I do? Is there a fix available here? Should I ask Verizon or Motorola to put the previous version, 2.2 or "FroYo" back on my phone?
I have a roadster for my car which I love! My problem I am convinced is the phone. When I hit the button to voice command, on the roadster (call) no problem, works fine. If my phone is idle for awhile, I hit button on roadster....nothing! I have to turn my phone screen on.....put in my unlock code, then voice command from roadster works fine again. Once the phone time locks it stops responding. Having to pick up the phone and unlock with code every time I want to make a call kind of defeats the hands free idea. Incoming calls never a problem. This happens even if phone is streaming music the entire time. If I do not first unlock phone it does not respond
I have both a CommandOne bluetooth, and a Jabra Stone....both of which pair with my Droid X, but don't communicate....they both did at one time (the CommandOne stopped communicating during a conversation)....the Jabra who knows when it quit. Now I have two BT's neither of which I can use. I keep thinking I must be doing something wrong, but damned if I can figure it out. This should be pretty straight forward. I've turned off BT, and the restarted the phone, done multiple Discoveries, multiple retrys at connecting.
