Motorola Droid 4 :: Hearing Background Noise During Call
Feb 28, 2012
ok i just got my droid 4 an i am hearing background noise during calls an the person on the other line can here it they descripe it as i am outside during a windstorm when ther is no wind an can hardly hear me sometimes so i thought i would bring this up to moto an see if its a bug or if i just have a bad phone.
Has anyone else noticed a crackling noise (like bad reception / interference) when placing calls? I want to say what I notice is when I'm getting the ring back while waiting for someone to pick up is the "only" time I hear it. The audio in calls seems to be ok. It's sounds like a weak signal or interference. As far as I know (though I use my phone more for data than voice).I haven't noticed anything horrible as far as reception/call audio in calls, aside from when calling my mom, but I think that's her (she's famous for leaning on the mic or mumbling and trailing off). I start to think I must be old (I'm not) and losing my hearing (I'm not) but then I just realize it's herI don't know if it's because usually when I make a call I just unlock the screen and make the call and it was trying to re-start any data sleeping modes and such or if it's something else...
I have had my xperia x10 for just under a week and whenever I make a call the receiver complains of a spitting noise in the background it is intermittent but nevertheless everyone I call complains about it. I do not hear it myself and have upgraded the software. Do I just have a faulty phone?
The last several days I have begun to hear an intermittment buzzing noise when people that I am speaking with on a phone call on the Droid Bionic are talking. The noise does not appear to occur when I am speaking - only when the other party speaks and this has happened on several calls with several people from different phone numbers and it does not matter whether they call me or I call themI had thought that noise issues were relegated to the audio portion of Zumocast, etc. through headphones, etc. as reported via other discussions, but now this issue has come up. I have one day left to return my phone and this is one thing I can not deal with.
Just noticed that whenever the phone wants to make a tone through the speaker, it will have a lot of background noise along with that sound. That background noise will prolong for a few second after finishing the tone it's supposed to make, then goes back to being silent.
For example, if I start typing on my keyboard, the phone obviously will play the key sound. The background noise will start but then will go back silent a few second after I finish typing.
When I record a video and play it back I can hear a loud whirring noise in the background. It happens regardless if the camera is moving or not when the video was taken and is quite an annoying sound.
Have been using my lumia 900 for a month. I noticed that there is a white/hissing noise in the background from the phone when listening to music using headphones. It starts right before the music starts to play and stops some seconds after pausing music. There is also a click sound in between songs. I can definitely confirm this is not from music files. If I plug headphones in and unlock the phone when not playing any music, I can hear the white background noise for a few seconds before it goes off. I've seen several posts reporting on the same issue from both lumia 800 and 900 (search white noise in the forum). It is very annoying! In addition, the volume buttons on my lumia 900 don't always work when screen is off, which has also been seen by many users. I'd say listening to music from headphones using lumia 900 is a bad experience due to these issues. I like lumia's design and overall it is a great phone. But these bugs disappoint me a lot.
I am having an issue with the bluetooth audio, when streaming to a speaker or headphones a high pitch noise is present in the background. This occurs whenever anything audio is playing music or notification sounds. Not sure if its hardware or software related?
I was talking on the phone and all of the sudden I started hearing another conversation. Not like it was in the background but it was so loud I couldn't hear the person on the other line. It seemed as if the lines got crossed.
I've got a question/concern. About a week after getting my X2, I've noticed that the camera seems to make a lot of noise. It clicks when I open the camera app, and clicks louder when I hit the "Switch To Video/Cam" button as well. I've had it say sometimes "oops, the camera can't be used right now!" before too! Only once has that happened. But the clicking is persistant.
On two occasions now the phone has been making an odd 'alert' tone both after unlocking the screen and while the phone screen is active.
It's not an application doing this because they are all closed. The phone is only supposed to make a click sound for locking and unlocking as per sound settings.
I upgraded in July from a LG enV Touch. As the Verizon rep. so correctly pointed out, Verizon currently offers no feature phone that isn't a massive downgrade from the enV Touch. It's probably safe to assume that this isn't going to change anytime soon. Kind of dissapointing. The closest thing to my old phone that Verizon offers is the Droid 3. I remember lusting over the Droid 1 when it first was released, so the 3 seemed like the natural choice. So far I have been happy with the phone. Android has taken some getting used to but beyond that it's a massively better phone than my old enV! I have had a couple of issues though which would be nice to see resolved:- bluish tint from camera. I make part of my living as a photography, so this one bothers me quite a bit. I'm very used to using camera gear that either has very good auto WB or at least lets you tweak the WB for specific lighting conditions.
- Noise reduction settings for the camera. The camera defaults to some pretty aggressive(smeary) noise reduction. I'd rather have some luminance noise than the water color effect. Phone locks up when activating the camera. I have to removed the battery to reboot it. This is one that has sort of been solved, but not in a great way. It was suggested to me that I have photos saved to the internal memory rather than my Sandisk microSD card to avoid this issue. It did work but i'd rather be saving to the SD card from the start.- Airplane mode doesn't work correctly. Once the phone is in airplane mode it will not come out of it. I have to turn my phone off and back on again.- When powering on the phone in silent mode, the phones still makes noise while booting.- Battery consumption seems high all around. I feel like it is even excessive in stand-by.
- This last one is probably not doable... it would be nice to have the option to remove all the garbage Verizon puts on the phone that I will never ever use. I could say the same thing about my enV Touch! Verizon had tons of crap on it that is absolutely of no use to me but obviously consumed system resources on some level.I realized from looking online that a lot of these issues have been brought up before. I don't think it hurts to reiterate that they are actually glitches that many of us experience in day-to-day use.
I talked to Verizon they sent me 2 refurb phones that both did it. We got Motorola on the call and they wanted to ship my phone back for repair but I'd have no phone so that wasn't an option. The local manager at the corp. store near me let me get a brand new one. He had never heard of it but it took us 3 brand new phones before we got one that didn't rattle. Even the floor model rattled as well.Yes I know the phone works and camera.
I just got the 5230 Nuron from T-mobile.I have assigned specific ringtones to individuals but I'm not hearing those ringtones when those people call. I'm still just hearing my generic ringtone. Also when I call or receive a call from someone in my address book, it doesn't show that person's name - it just shows their number. Is there a way I can get the designated ringtones to work and a way I can see the name of the person that's calling me instead of just their number?
I frequenly charge my phone in my car while listing to music, through the car's AUX port. It worked flawlessly with my Droid2, but with the Razr M, there is noise when music is not playing. When music is playing, even with a very quiet passage, there is no noise. It is only when the music app is not sourcing music (I can't remember if there is noise if the music is just paused). When sitting at the home screen with no music app running, there is definitely noise. The noise I'm hearing sounds like CPU noise...digital interference noise. But, car electircal noise must also be coming through the charging circuit. I do not have any issue while charging on AC power.
Does any one else still have a high pitch noise coming from the phone with headphones in? I don't primarily listen to my phone for music, so it's really not too big of a deal, but it sure is annoying. I thought the OTA was supposed to fix that. And it's not my headphones, they're beats studios.
A friend of mine has another brand Android and all of his basic phone screens have a black background, which I find more appealing than the dark blue on the BIONIC. I've looked all around the settings areas and cannot locate a place to change the colors.I am not speaking about the wallpaper. But the actual window background in the stock programs which come on the BIONIC.
I use Stitcher, the FM Radio and Mediafly a lot. On the X these would always stay active when surfing the web, playing most games, etc. They now last about 2 minutes before something is killing there processes. I am not using a task killer. It seems to be more of a problem when the X2 is docked.
Have a coworker with DroidX that has a black background for email display. Can't figure out how to do on my DroidX2. Tried display and account settings.
Why does the built-in music player app keep starting itself in the background?Ever since I first got the phone, I kept finding the music player open. Its there about a minute after boot. I use Advanced Task Kill to stop it, a minute later or so and its back. I used Optimize Tool Box to view the startup apps and Music is not one of them. Keep in mind, this is not a background service but the app itself.
I just noticed this happen while I was trying to swipe the homescreen lock while the phone was in the middle of rotating from portrait to landscape, but my background reset itself to the default background while I was trying to do this. This only seems to be an issue for the "non blur" launcher. I have never encountered this using a third party launcher.
Like many of us, I have experienced the problem of noise from the headphone port of my Bionic. This was prevalent no matter what I was listening too (music, podcast, phone call, etc), and was most noticeable when in the car, plugged into the aux jack of my stereo.
A friend suggested getting a ground loop isolator, and I found one on Amazon for around $12 with free shipping. It arrived on Friday, and let me tell you, THE DIFFERENCE IS AMAZING! All the noise is gone, and my music sounds significantly better. No more hiss or noise. I didn't realize how much I had gotten used to it being there.
i still have a fair few apps running constantly even when i close the apps out with the recent apps button or when i go into settings, apps, running, and close them all manually there. Is theres any quicker better way of doing this? I don't want to disable these apps
Yesterday I allowed the Motorola update on my Razr Maxx & now I wish I could undo it. When I go into "Phone", "Voicemail", "Text", etc. the background is black with white font (or in the case of Text, the background is dark blue with grey lettering). I am unable to read light colored font against a dark background so am having a terrible time with this update. Is there a way to change the color of the background and make the font black? I've tried changing the Display, Wallpaper, etc but that has no effect on the default background colors of the apps.
The IM service is always running in applications. I have never even opened the IM application or set it up. It usually is using up between 3.1 and 3.7 MB in the memory, which isn't a big deal. It is running one process and two services. Any way to disable the IM app from constantly running in the background. I had disabled it in the Task Manager to shut off two minutes after the screen goes off but whenever the phone wakes it turns back on and seemed to make my data issues worse. I can't say for sure that adding it to the auto kill list directly affected the data connection because it may have just been another bad day for the Bionic.
