Motorola Defy :: Phone Gets Hot While Plugged In / But Doesn't Charge
Nov 9, 2011
I got a defy at September, and since then it's about the 3rd time that I plug in my phone at the end of the day, I go to sleep, and when I wake up the phones battery is still at the same percent as it was, and the battery and the back of the phone is really (I mean REALLY) hot. When I take off the charger and put it back, it starts to charge.
Phone won't turn on. Doesn't show 'battery' when plugged in to charge. It was in my holster, next to my body. It had 90% charge when I put it on. 5 hrs later I found it off, and it won't turn on. What do I do?
A couple weeks ago the Xoom stopped charging. I took it to work to look at it and then it just started charging at work. I brought it home and it was charging again at home too. I thought it must have been some fluke. Only now it is doing it again. I have tried dozens of outlets, and they work for any other device but not for the Xoom. It won't charge.
My Defy has suddenly stopped charging, neither does it notice when its connected to the PC.
However, when I power off the phone and then plug in the cable it notices, a little white light comes on and the phone powers up. So the USB port must work, at least a little bit.I also have a Desire and the same cables work with it, so I know that the PC and cables are working. There is defifinely something the matter with the Defy.
when we charge the phone when it is switched off why it is jumping from 5% to 15% to 60% to 100%?When we charge the phone when it is off after draining the battery (or ) there are no ways to charge the phone since we are travelling
do we have to charge the phone to 3% and then switch on the phone then we have to charge again to 100% which goes gradually and it takes approximately 2 hours to complete the charge. When we charge the phone when it is switched off then it charges the whole battery within 45 Mins.I think this is a bug in the operating system since, I have never seen in my lifetimte that charging from 0% to 100% in less than 45 Mins.
So, I got this new Motorola Defy less than a week ago. Recently, the phone died and now that it's connected to the charger, it doesn't seem to be charging. After leaving it on the charger for 8 hours, it still read 0% and I couldn't turn it it. I've taken it out, had it plugged in without the battery, put it back in, just about everything you can do with it without taking anything apart.
motocast will not activate when i plug my phone (atrix) into my laptop to transfer files, photos, music ect) is there something that i have to do other than loading the motocast program?
After dipping my phone in water for about 10 seconds at a depth of 15 cm, the touch screen went crazy. Brightness was at its maximun ignoring the ambient light sensor. 20 minutes later the phone was off. I thought was the battery, but before this, the battery was at 60 %. I let it in rise for two days, but it doesn't start or charge the battery. Is dead. Two times, when I connect the usb charger a red led light turns on, but turns off after a few seconds.
When I used to plug in my phone to the tv with my hdmi cable it would pop up on the phone wanting me to pick entertainment center or webtop connector. I chose the entertaimnment center last time and chose the option to always pick that. Now when I connect my phone to the tv, the Motorola logo appears on the screen of the tv, but the phone does nothing, like it doesn't recognize it. Is there a way that I can redo whatevr it is I do so I can watch my videos on my tv?
The GPS does not appear to be working on my Defy. I've tried using it with google maps and gps test, and I'm not getting any signal or active satellites.
i actually dont have a Defy with the motoblur..however der was no option to select one without it...i cant sync my facebook accounts to the contacts list.
I have an MB526 Defy+ UK retail version, branded by JCB.
It has system version 45.0.82.MB526.Retail.en.GB, Android version 2.3.4 If I go to UK support, I can see an updated version 45.0.125, Android version 2.3.5

However, on the phone, if I 'check for system updates', it reports the software is up to date.
Since I have an issue with the software, I'd like to update it to check for a fix. I could probably use the USB updater, but is there some reason why the phone won't do it itself ?
when i turn my phone on, the display screen stops working. also the touch feature has stopped working, i can receive calls, but not make any calls as the home screen doesn't respond at all. the model is motorola defy plus.
The plug part of my Motorola Defy stopped working so my only option at the moment is to charge via USB which isn't too great when I don't have my own computer at home at the moment so charging options are very limited.I contacted Amazon where I purchased the phone and they want me to send the whole lot back for replacement when it is just the plug part that doesn't work!i then contacted Motorola via their Chat and they were not much help either. It took them ages to respond to my query as they were busy chatting to someone else on the phone. When I eventually got a reply they said to contact CPW Accessory Repairs on 0870 087 0168. Contacted them and I was speaking to a robot and punching in different buttons on the keypad. Eventually it said to bring it in to one of the CPW stores and they may be able to help repair or replace it.What an absolute farce. It's absurd and impractical that Amazon have to replace the whole thing instead of just the small part that is faulty. It is just the plug part that doesn't work and I can't be sending the whole thing back with all my applications and viewranger maps to have to reinstall it all over again.
Last night I was using my phone and noticed it was running low on battery. I put it on the charger and it didn't charge. I tried several different outlets, my dad's charger, and my USB, and none of them worked. So I gave up for that night. Today my dad got me a new battery and it still doesn't charge. Once again, I tried several different outlets, my dad's charger, and my USB cable.I've let it sit on the charger for a while, and nothing has happened. I am completely clueless. Since it's not the battery, it's the phone.Did I accidentally post this in the wrong subforum? I noticed I'm in the "Smartphones" section and I got my phone in December of 2009.
My xperia z2 is completely discharged, while I do not use it. He lay there for about a week, maybe more. Now I tried to turn it on, but it does not turn on. Does not respond to a hard reset, and not charging. I tried to charge it for 2 consecutive days. He did not turn on. When I tried to connect it to a PC, the red LED lights up. Do not run any mode fastboot nor flashmod. The LED is still illuminated. Although the phone is not connected to anything.
The other day I plugged my Droid3 into the car charger and confirmed it was 'charging', showing 20%. An hour later, it was still 'charging' at 20% and was very hot. I unplugged the charger from the phone and checked the battery - it was at 20%. Normally, this phone would have charged 100% in an hour.
I plugged the charger back in - the phone charged properly.
Both my wife and I have Defy's owned for 4 months and upgraded to Froyo 2.2 some weeks ago.both working normally. Then yesterday my phone, for no obvious reason, came up with the message "Invalid Battery.Your device battery is invalid and cannot be charged. Replace the battery with an origional motorola battery." Also the battery symbol at top right of display is black, not green, and has a? mark in it. I have checked my battery, which came with the phone, and it is official Motorola with hologram. So is my wifes.I tried swapping the batteries and while my battery works perfectly in her phone, her battery in my phone gives the same errors.I then tried a master reset....Twice! Both successful, wiping all my data, and requiring me to set up the phone again, but problem still remains.
I have a couple of USB style chargers for my car and when I plug my admiral in it looks like it is charging but the battery level actually goes down as we are traveling. The USB charger output is 5v/2.1a
Let the battery run out and plugged it into charger overnite. Didn't charge. Tried the usb into the pc and got the battery with the lightning bolt symbol. Plugged into wall outlet wont work. What gives? I tried taking out the battery for 5-10 mins and still nothing.
How to set the phone to Charge Only when connected to a pc with a USB cable? Just got my M8 from Verizon yesterday. On any other android devices I've owned, when you connect the device to my Mac with a USB cable, you get the option to change the connection type: Charge only, disk drive, usb tethering (or HTC sync, for HTC devices).
On the M8, When I connect it to my Mac, I get a notification saying "Media device [MTP] connected", and another notice saying "USB connected - Tap to change settings". The MTP notice doesn't do anything when tapped. Tapping the USB connected notice, takes me to the Mobile Hotspot & tethering settings page. I've got "Mobile Hotspot" and "Bluetooth tethering" both turned off. "USB network setting" is set to "None". There doesn't appear to be an option to specify charge only.
On the Mac, it mounts a filesystem containing only the HTC Sync Manager (which won't run, because it was compiled for old PowerPC Macs).
