Motorola Atrix 4G :: Upgrade AT&T To ICS Outside USA?
Apr 23, 2012
I'm currently using my atrix 4g outside the usa and im also using a simcard from a different provider (a local provider in the country im at) My question is when ICS soon becomes available, will i encounter problems upgrading via OTA? if yes how can i upgrade to the official ICS OS?
there is update for my phone my present is this Andriod 2.2.2 there is up date for this and it only can be download from a WIfi connect. my wifi connect is low or not here is there a different way to get in my phone?
i am user of Motorola Atrix 4G.each and every thing which we need is available in the smart phone.but recently i heard about the cancellation of up gradation of android 2.3 to 4.0.A single core phone with less ram then the atrix that came out around the same time that has 4.0.4 while Atrix 4G is Dual core phone why Motorola stuck it on Gingerbread?me and my friends which are using Motorola Atrix 4G are very disappointed to hear about this cancellation...we dont want to change this awesome cell phone only for this reason.its our humble request to take back your decision and launch the up-gradation of Android 4.0 for Atrix 4G.
After a recent upgrade I noticed I cannot initiate a call via my bluetooth with the phone locked. I was able to do it with the earlier version. Using Plantronics Pro bluetooth. Is this a proprietary block to aftermarket bluetooth devices?? Is there a setting I am missing. Oh, I checked the box under Location and Security for Bluetooth Bypass, which, I thought would have taken care of the matter since it directly addresses the issue, and is new to the list.
My wife received the notice today to upgrade to GB OTA. She accidentally hit download, but must have been on Edge signal. The down load is at the very beginning, but is asking her to connect to wifi to finish the download. Is there away to cancel the download to upgrade later? I tried powering off the phone and going into the phone status menu with no luck.
My Atrix 2 (on AT&T) operating system was upgraded to 2.3.6 this morning and since then it has been continuously rebooting (going off then on again) every few minutes. I have removed the battery and replaced it. It still did it. I have NOT done a HARD reboot.
I am also getting the "Process system is not responding" error message and a blue bar that says that it is having trouble connecting to the network.
UPDATE:
After hours of rebooting, (I had it charging throughout the time) it has stopped and is acting "normally". I am worried that it will start again and I don't have a fix.
Here I am, 2 weeks later and it started continuously rebooting again. No new updates, no new apps, no new anything. What I did notice was that the battery was below 20%. I have plugged it in and will wait to see if it stops by itself again. The fix described below is requiring too much from a non-technical. I do not have Motoblur. My calendar and contacts are backed up to my gmail account and LOOKOUT.
It continued to reboot for over a day. I went to the AT&T store. They gave me a new phone!
i have a stock AT&T Atrix shipping version Blur_Version.4.1.26.MB860.ATT.en.US. im planning to SIM unlock it and send it to the Philippines. Is it possible to update to version Blur_Version.4.1.57.MB860.ATT.en.US to Blur_Version.4.1.83.MB860.ATT.en.US and to Blur_Version.4.5.91.MB860.ATT.en.US here in the Philippines? what should I do?
Is anyone else have erratic signal (dropping to Edge more and/or lower bars of 4g) after the ICS upgrade? Also when it does switch to Edge the AT&T in the upper left goes away for as much as 5 seconds--and during that time the phone has nothing at all--and does the sam thing when it comes back. I've done and FDR and cache clearing during the upgrade...just trying to see if I'm the only one or not?
First off, let me just say that I am very pleasantly surprised at how well the ICS upgrade went for my Atrix2. First off, the upgrade itself went smoothly and I lost no data. Second, the phone seems much snappier in all respects. Third, I like some of the new features that ICS provides.
One question I do have is whether it is possible to change the applications that are available on the lock screen? For example, I use a popular third party app for my camera (CameraZoom) and it would be nice to be able to access it from the lock screen instead of the stock camera.
what's the verdict on the voice quality with noise suppression set back to "normal"? People that I've called seem to think it's acceptable now (haven't been asked to repeat myself), but if asked to choose, they do still believe that the "off" setting provides a better sounding voice, i.e. less muffled.
Since upgrading to the latest firmware version, I have experienced a number of issues. Before I begin, I will say that the phone has never been tampered with, and I have only used stock ROMS. A portion of the screen is unresponsive to touch while in portrait mode. The unusable portion covers about 20% of the screen, and begins about 20% of the way down from the top. Basically, this means that the third row of shortcuts (from the bottom) are unusable, cannot be moved, etc. Turning the phone into landscape mode renders the previously unusable portion (now a vertical stripe along the left side of the phone, if the buttons are on the right) responsive to touch again. Certain keys in the multi touch keyboard do not respond while in landscape mode. The "C", "X", and "D" keys no longer work in landscape mode. For approximately a month, the "R" key did not work in either orientation, though it has inexplicably begun working in both orientations.I have also experienced general stability issues. The phone has turned off a few times, on its own, as well as shutting down facebook when toggling between messaging and chat.
if this happened as a result of the system upgrade (to 4.5.91.MB860.ATT.en.US, Android version 2.3.4), but I surely noticed many contacts on my phone are messed up. Many names, phone numbers, email addresses etc are all mixed up together.
1. After the upgrade Music App which came preloaded in GB 2.3.6 is no longer available in ICS. ( i got app hellobob - member atrix 2)I purchased this mobile phone because of music clarity & superb beats which were in the music app CMP preloaded in 2.3.6. There were some disadvantages with this player but agianst sound clarity they were nothing.
2. After the upgrade Task manager app is also not available.
3. music player haas been replaced with googles glay music app (google Play) which is totally upsetting, no clarity in the sound, noisy sharp voice, no beats clarity. (nokia mobile which are within 2000rs play better than this.)
4. Unable to control the memory consumed by runnig application,. of 1 GB RAM if you continue install more app phone will start hanging beccause of you are unable to control the running process which are consuming lot of memory. This is big drawback in terms of performance of mobile.
5. No option to above in the phone settings. No of processes shifts to standad every time when you restart the phone. This setting is availble under developer option, i am not sure if this control the running apps.
6. Upon the power button press immediately open up password screen for enterprise users this is sometimes may cause problem if user keeping mobile pocket & get keys preseed automatically, or keys pressed by kids or friends not knowing the password. Additionaly no of attemps remaining is not displaying, earlier used to display the same. This is really big drawback - as entire phone data will be erased including data on SD card.
7. Vibration control features are not available. There are some more important basic simple phone features in terms of user options ( accessbility) missing in motorola atrix 2 (may be other motorola phones as well) - major drawback - which I shall open another thread to discuss the same. This features I had in my Nokia 6233 which I had purchased 6 years back (might have been designed 7yrs back). That was just an 7 MB ROM mobile. These missing features really making me unhappy with Atrix 2/Motorola.
Can Moto provide an update to the Upgrade Schedule? It has been about three months since the last update and a lot has changed since then. We lost one of our favorite Forum Managers and probably many other Moto support staff. As we only have two more weeks in Q3, i have a feeling that the Atrix ICS upgrade has gone yellow or red status.
I am having issues with my bluetooth connection after installing the recent att update. It will show as connected but I can't hear the other person. I have to switch between bluetooth and speaker to hear the other peson. I never had problems before. I thought it is bluetooth problem and just received new headset from plantronics and it is doing the same.
id like to buy one of those over 3000mah batteries for my atrix 2 , but where i live i can only find this batteries for the atrix 4g and im not sure if it works on the atrix 2.
My Motorola Atrix or Computer has a Problem install the ADB Interface so there for my phone wont connect to my Computer.I have a windows 7 32-bit operating system.I have tried installing Drivers Manualy, tried using the PDAnet Solution, tried unistalling all USB Ports, tried applications to help.
Will the Lapdock (and other accessories for that matter) work for the new Atrix 2 coming? I've only used the Lapdock lightly and it will be a real shame if it and the other accessories I've purchased over the past year won't work with the 2nd gen Atrix.
I recently had to get a replacement Atrix through AT&T after my original one shattered. I had insurance and AT&T provided me a refurbished one through their insurance program. My question is, will I still be able to get all future updates on this phone or is there something I need to do?
I did the Jelly Bean update on my two month old Atrix HD yesterday. Then my apps started closing on their own and then the homescreen started doing the same thing. Tried to do a FDR and I have the little android guy on my screen now with what looks like a rotating atom in his belly and a blue progress bar below him. Been like this for several hours now and I even tried calling the Motorola people and I'm still where I was. Can anyone offer a solution before I take it back to where I bought it from to see if they will even replace it? I did the holding down the volume buttons simultaneously and then the power button, got the motorola logo and then goes right back to this annoying little android guy with the rotating atom in his belly.
Other android devices have the ability to synch with picassa to view their online albums am I missing something or is this a big whoops not included on Moto's part.
My Atrix has the latest update applied and has started recently showing the following error message:"com.motorola.service.main had stopped unexpectedly" Touching ok returns to the home screen for 1 second and the error reappears. This makes the phone unusable.I have performed a factory reset and the error was away for 24 hrs but now it has reappeared.
Since yesterday all of a sudden my battery started draining like crazy, 100% to 40% in 2 hours. Battery manager shows com.motorola.service.main taking 60% battery.what is this process and why it is taking too much of battery?
When I go to edit contacts I see that motorola services contact has the same contact replicated 10 times or more. How can I solve this if I want to edit the contact information?
Im wondering why MML doesn't have an option to turn it off. I don't use it much and short of installing it I see no option for it not starting up every time I turn on my computer.
This post is for all of us who bought the Xoom because 4g speed was an important factor to us. We've been informed by email that our Xoom 4G upgrade will be available in September (2011), early Sept or late Sept who knows. We'll also have to send the Xoom back for the upgrade so the inconvenience factor to get our 4g is high.
Well for those of us [i.e. myself] who bought early in the hopes that Motorola would exceed our personal expectations and put the upgrade in our Xooms quickly after the initial Xoom release on Feb 24, 2011, we've been disappointed with this unreasonably long delay.
The bar of what we expect from Motorola is now set by the Galaxy tab 4G and the tab speeds are, well, phenomenal.[URL].. So, a personal observation, the upgrade had better be stellar and fast now that the Xoom will [maybe?] be the No. 2 4g tablet on the Verizon network. You can't win the first to 4g tablet market race but you sure better not blow the performance side of 4g.
