Lumia Icon :: Getting To Contacts List While On The Phone

Well on a call the other night I tried to access my contact list, it keep putting me back to the call screen, (caller id, speaker phone, mute, etc.) but no contact list icon, so you have to hit home, then people, then name , and open the contact to retrieve the number. tedious to say the least. and it's bad enough, but half way though the process it kicks back to the call screen, now its frustrating. I had to call them back.
I salved the problem by put my contacts in a folder on my start screen. simple enough , but I still had to open the folder, and each contact to retrieve the number. Well I was watching the folder cycle though the names, it came to me, why not add the number with the name , John 123-123-123, (if you want the number above the name add it first), now the live tile will cycle though showing the name and phone number, open up the folder and you get all the names with number in front of you.
I'm a bit stumped. I have my Icon synced with my Mercedes C300 via Bluetooth. Everything works fine..receiving and making calls. Responding to texts with Cortana. However, I want to add a new contact to the cars phone book. I go to the contact on the Icon...select share the contact...choose via Bluetooth....but the Bluetooth connection for the car does not show up to select. This is very strange since the phone and the car are already connected via Bluetooth.
So I was wondering how to sync my contacts from my google account to my phone. My wife had a Samsung and I synced the contacts with her google account but the contacts won't sync back to her new Icon. Is this not possible?
Love the phone - just got a really irritating problem. I've synced my phone with my gmail account - the My Contacts list has my key contact email addresses. Then I have multiple groups within gmail account relating to work emails etc, nearly 500 odd.
On the phone, when I click my 'Contacts' button, initially it showed all my phone number contacts, as well all google email contacts mixed with them. I corrected this by going to 'display options' to select 'display only contacts with phone numbers', so that I didn't have to trawl through random email addresses mixed with my proper phone contacts. Great, sorted.
But, when I go to compose a text message - if it is to one or two specific contacts it is fine...I just type their name and it comes up. If I want to scroll through all my phone contacts to send the same message to multiple contacts, big problem - I press that envelope button in the top right corner next to 'enter recipient', and it takes me to the Contacts list, but here it still shows ALL 600 odd contacts with phone contacts still mixed with google email contacts, which is impossible to scroll through and select multiple people to send a text message to....Does anyone know how to sort this out?!??!
I am trying to sort my contacts in 'People' by Last Name, First without success. I have selected both 'Sort by Last Name', and 'Display names by Last, First' and the list still displays as 'First, Last'. I double-checked my entries to make sure they are correct (i.e. Last name is in fact in last name field).
I love the Toast notifications on my Icon, which has Windows 8.1 through Verizon. The only problem is that they only display for a few seconds and they usually vanish before I can get to the phone to see what the notification was, and as far as I can tell, there's no way to pull up a list of old notifications. So I'm wondering if there's any way to make these notifications display longer. Right now, they seem to be about five seconds and they're gone. I'd like to extend that to at least ten seconds. And is there any way to pull up a list of old notifications so I can see what I might have missed when I was away from my phone?
I'm getting "Saving" after taking a couple photos in a row on my Icon. At first it would shoot and shoot, now I just get a couple and then it slows. I've filled up and emptied the phone a bunch (I shoot a LOT of photos/videos).
I have a business line on my phone. There's nothing I like better than Lumia's option to block the last call you had from bothering me in the future. I am wondering however if I'll lose my list if this phone has a firmware update or if there's some way to save this list.
I have added my contacts to the contact list. With some when I try to ring by touching the number on the screen it rings normally with others I get a screen asking me to "Complete action using" and then there is a list of options g mail, messaging but not ring phone number. How do I stop this happening so that when I touch a phone number it just rings out normally like I expect it to.
So despite my last thread where I was worried about missing some features I picked up the Icon. So far, I'm enjoying it a lot, aside from the fact I can't get my gmail contacts to sync. I've been googling and searching this forum for an answer and it appears I'm doing everything right, they just don't sync. I've deleted and re-added the account, with a restart in the middle.. nothing. I've changed the cardDAV server to m.google.com and Google and nothing. Any way besides a hard reset? It's pretty frustrating not having most of my contacts.
I'm giving serious consideration to moving to WP and the Icon from Android and a Galaxy S3. I'm not overly concerned about the so-called app gap but I'm curious to hear stories from others who have made this move and how you may have handled moving all of your google contacts and calendar appointments to a Microsoft account. Can I just add the google/gmail account and have the contacts move over automatically?
I have an iPhone 4S, running iOS 5.1.1 (9B206). About two weeks ago (not really sure when I noticed) a phone number appeared at the bottom of my Favorites list. The number is for a person that I deleted from Contacts some months ago. The number is not in the Contact list anywhere, the contact does not exist. I've tried recreating the contact (and Favorites then shows the name) and then deleting the contact, and its still there in the Favorites list. There is a facetime icon next to the number. If I turn off Facetime, the number disappears.
Cant understand why the backup to PC of vital Lumia phone information such as contacts, calendar and messges can not be easily and quickly achieved as with the Nokia suite and N8. I believe it is synced automatically to Sky-drive but I cannot find evidence of this. I would like to have control of this data for easy retrieval and stored on my PC. Windows phone software on my PC is sub standard in comparison with Nokia Suite. It is clunky, contacts cannot be backed up, photos have no picture reference when transferred and the overall Windows Phone software on my PC is second rate in contrast to the Windows Phone 8 phone experience. Can anyone enlighten me on how I can easily copy my contacts to PC. No problem getting contacts into the phone. Just unclear on how to get a copy of them out.
I have a sony erricson W395 and I have saved the contacts from my old SIM card onto my new phone memory, I put the new SIM card in and I cant find the contacts that are saved on the phone, the contacts list is empty. But if I type in my home number and ring it, it comes up with ringing home. Yet if the contact weren't saved on the phone it would come up with random number ringing and not saying calling home. How to transfer my contacts from my phone memory to my official contacts list/
Per the MS specs, it takes 160 minutes to charge the phone to 80%; this is called a "quick charge". Can I use the phone while it is plugged into the charger?
Received my Icon today coming from an iPhone 5S. Still getting used to everything but I have not been able to find a way to add a "favorites" list of frequently called numbers. Am I missing something or is that not an option on the Icon?
So my Icon Rebooted back to factory and now I have lost all my contacts. Apparently Windows wasnt back them up nor was VZW Back up assistance or Google. I logged on to my Live account and there is a device back up on there but how do I install it back to the phone. I hope my contacts are stored in there. Anyways when the phone rebooted i went through the how set up process and it new installed it. Its like a factory fresh phone. No app, no contacts, nothing.
My Lumia Icon has been getting hot in the bottom right corner? Usually Lumia devices get hot near the camera, which is not very obtrusive since one does not primarily hold the device there. I only use the device for 5 minutes and it starts to warm up////
I have an older Dell computer with Windows XP. Professional SP3. When I plug my Lumia Icon into the computer it recognizes it as a camera. I would like to plug the phone into the computer to put music on the phone, how can I get the computer to see it as a phone, or storage device rather than a camera? I have an older Android phone that I can plug in and have it recognize as a phone/storage device.
A few days ago I woke up late as my alarm didn't go off. I had it set for 640am on weekdays and have been using it this way since I bought it in July. I pulled the phone off the charger and the screen would not wake up, it seemed dead. So I held down power and volume and it reset and came up fine. Until it happened again the next day... Now, I had woken up around 530am and checked my phone for the time, it was fine then, I went back to sleep and when I woke up after 7 (late again for work) the phone once again, would not wake up and I had to reset it.
So, I went to work and did a full software reset and went through setting up my phone. I set my alarm for 5 minutes earlier, 635am and went to sleep without plugging it in(it was about 80%). This morning my alarm went off fine, and I hit snooze as I normally would... then woke up after 7 to find my phone again locked up(Snooze alarm failed to sound), unresponsive and I had to do a hard reset.
Something weird has started happening to my Nokia Icon. It's been working great but lately I wake up to a frozen phone! I go to sleep, and it's working normally, then in the morning I push the "wake" button and the screen comes on, usually showing a time from a few hours earlier, and then it's frozen. I have to do a reset to restart the phone and then it works fine. I thought at first it was because I was leaving it on the charging pillow but it happens even if it's just sitting on the table.
I recently updated my Nokia 928 to a Nokia Icon. Ever since, I have had intermittent problems with my Bluetooth audio in my Acura TSX. The song will sometimes breakup or skip, almost like an old record with a scratch. Despite reminiscing about the good old days of record albums, this is a real nuisance.
I am having an issue where the windows phone app tries to sync it sync the whole playlist over but before it use to only synced the newly added songs to the playlist I created...
