Lumia 950 XL :: After All Updates Occasional Reboot?
Jan 21, 2016
Just curious if I need to do a swap with my MS Store. I have the latest firmware and OS version .36 and still get about 1 - 3 random reboots a week.
Had one yesterday while using the camera. A few days earlier had another one while my phone was just being charged. I see on average about 1 - 3 a week right now. I admit these updates did fix a lot of initial instability as I was performing my own resets multiple times a day for apps that wouldn't launch, apps freezing or acting very buggy. I don't experience most of these now.
My XL was also part of the original day one batch. But I've seen many people claiming to never have a single issue ever with theirs and I guess I've found that hard to believe.
I have a new (to me) Lumia 1020 and while it is fast and fluid everywhere else, web pages sometimes take forever (sometimes as long as 15 seconds) to load. Often it is the first visit to a page after opening IE, but not always.
I am on a VERY fast WiFi connection that is capable of 120Mb/s and tests at about 50Mb/s using a speed test app on the phone. Other PCs on the same WiFi network do not exhibit ANY page load delays.
The issue seems the same whether I am on WiFi or cell data (ATT LTE with a strong signal).
Data Sense is set to NOT compress web pages, but the issue seems the same if I enable web page compression.
Why web pages take so long to load... sometimes? It is the only issue I have with WP8.1.
Over the past couple weeks I've been having occasional freeze ups and spontaneous reboots of my phone. Sometimes the phone will unfreeze and other times I have to do an extended hold of the power button to force a reboot. It may not be locking up so much as the touch screen could be unresponsive.
I've got the Lumia 920 now for more than three weeks. I downloaded about 30 apps, a lot of Nokia and also other populars such as Skype, Facebook, Twitter and so on.I haven't received any app update since I bought my phone and downloaded all those apps. I think it's strange because on my 800, I still receive regular app updates (about two-three times a week I think)So, I think it's abnormal that I don't receive any updates on the 920. Could this have something to do with the wifi issue on the current Win8 release?
I'm not getting any app update notifications. If I need to update an app, I have to find it in the store first, then it'll appear in the "App Updates". This poses a problem as I won't get any new updates for apps that don't show under the store. Apps like Network+ won't show updates.
I've been pressing the "Check for updates" button frequently in anticipation for Cyan, but suddenly it's not working right. The "Checking for updates..." message will appear, but more than five minutes later, nothing happens. When the lock screen appears and I unlock it, it now says "Your phone is updated" but the "Last checked" date was the date of the last check when things are still ok.
What I expect and hope Nokia & Microsoft would bring in future Nokia Lumia Phone Updates. The most important feauture to add is a centralized search option which will allow to search the phone, messages, galary, contacts and the web as like the IPhone have.Get a brightness meter instead the options of LOW, MEDIUM & HIG.Option to disable AUTO - ROTATE Screen.Option to use phone as a WiFi Hotspot.Make Zune able to install applications plus improve it to synchronize documents etc.Full Phone Backup accessible from SkyDrive and by PC.Use phone as Mass- Storage Media.Allow Bluetooth to send receive files over other phones and computers.Nokia Drive must include points of interest places with option to navigate directly from Nokia Drive, Integration of google search in nokia maps.More settings option must be included with new features such as message lock etc.
In places with not very good reception (1-3 bars) of T-Mobile EDGE, my phone seems to be defaulting to AT&T and thus I get SOS. But I know service exists, since I've tested other phones in the same location, even another 9700. For example, we were sitting side by side today, he was getting 3 bars of EDGE while mine was sitting on SOS. We switched spots and still same deal.It happens whether I choose Automatic or Manual carrier selection, or just 2G or 3G and 2G. Does it sound most like a software issue, hardware issue, or SIM card issue?
I got BB 9900 in April, 2012, and have been very staisfied with it.It still has its original OS 7.0.0.296 ( i have not updated it even once ).Since last 2 days, I am facing an issue. If I pick my phone say after 5 or 10 mins to use it, then its screen flickers for about few seconds, and then returns back to normal.
We arent able to check "NOKIA Lumia 800" for available updates right now. try again later. If you need to contact support, reference error 8000ffff Current Version: 07.10.08107.03
Didn't find any reference to this error 8000ffff on the Nokia support site or any other mobile platform site. Will try again later. Restarted my device but still the same error
I watched my Nokia Lumia 920 update three apps tonight. Two of the updates used the phone's cell network. One update used wifi. Is there a setting on that I can set to make the phone only use wifi to download updates?
Lately, I've been having a problem with updates from the Store. I get halfway through with the update process, and it stops. I get "app needs attention" notification, and that's it. My phone is up to date as far as firmware.
out of the box my Lumia 920 is not able use my operators data connection. Some days after I started using the phone I got a notification that there is an update to the access point application. Afterwards it worked. But now I had to reset it because I wasn't able to send and receive SMS anymore. So I again have no data connection, but this time the Store is not offering me the update and I can't search for it or install it via the PC.Microsoft wasn't able to help, neither was my operator nor Nokia. Does anybody have an idea what to do? I'm thinking about either changing the operator (to one that has settings on the SIM card) or give away the phone. Punishing the operator for this doesn't sound right to me though.
Just left my 900 for the 1020. Can only seem to update my social media status in portrait orientation, which I hate. I am a landscape typist. Is there a setting I can change? Or am I stuck this way?
A slight, yet audible popping sound that you can occassionally hear when using the phone with haptic vibration turned on and in quiet environments. It goes away completely when I disable haptic vibration feedback. It's not a big problem, just a minor annoyance. Still, disappointing considering the price of the phone.
Sometimes, perhaps just a couple times a week, I will hit the power or Home button to wake my phone and the screen will be very, very dim for 5 or so seconds. After that, the screen will be the normal brightness and the phone behaves normally. Most of the time, the screen pops on right away, and I can't find any correlation that explains when this might happen. It's not related to the environment's brightness, as AFAIK. It seems to be completely random.I have the screen brightness manually set at the lowest setting. Auto brightness is turned off.I got my X2 with the original Froyo firmware, and didn't see this happen until the current 2.3.4 firmware. But the older firmwares weren't current for very long, so perhaps it would have happened if I'd used the older firmware versions for a longer time
My 920 used to show app updates in the marketplace, but, I haven't seen an actual app update for a couple weeks now.. I recently updated my Rogers 920 yesterday and still am not seeing app updates.. As it sits right now, I have to manually go into the app in the app store to update them..
Lumia 920/N9Previous Life: N8, N95, 8600, 8800 Sapphire Arte, N97, N97-Mini, 5800 and a few older ones
Last night there were several updates to apps and system settings. One of them had something to do with the display for Lumia devices, but it updated so quickly, I didn't see any info about it. This morning, my 1520 scrolling on the home page is flawless, even scrolling while trying to make it click.

The windows phone marketplace is not showing updates for apps. Apparently when I get into marketplace and then select the app (that has already been installed), I get an option of update and share. Before updating to the current (latest firmware) the update was available even in the marketplace tile. Is it because of the maintenance process being carried out with marketplace (as mentioned by a user in the discussion page?). Lumia 710 User.
i came a cross an interesting post unfortunately also with no solution. so i am starting a new thread because the old 1 had about 15 posts none of which were answered just more questions posed, so to business.i wondered why i could not get the new updates or why it did not show up, then i read several posts from people with phones that were bought unlocked for any network and they all had the same problem updates not showing up when there are updates to be had.
I have had my Droid Turbo with Android 5.1 for about 6 months and recently it has begun to frequently refuse to charge on either the USB or official Verizon wireless charger.
I can set it on the wireless charger and both the charger and phone recognize each other, but in the morning...no charging has taken place.
I can usually force it to accept a charge by restarting the phone while on the charger.
Just got the Droid 4 yesterday. Using it on Verizon's 4g network, and have discovered a really annoying issue: When playing audio across a bluetooth connection (either to a droid roadster or my 2012 chevy sonic), there are occasional skips in the music. This happens about once every 4-6 seconds, and the cutout is brief, about 1/8th of a second. It does not happen for phone calls, nor do the skips happen if I disable bluetooth and listen via the built in speaker or the headphone jack.
Wifi is disabled, and the source of the audio doesn't seem to matter. I've tried Pandora, Tune-in radio, and locally saved music, same result. It's not the network, as I just upgraded from a Samsung Droid Charge (also a 4g phone) which does not have this issue. I've unpaired from all sources, and re-paired, rebooted the phone, tried while charging / not charging, enabling gps / disabling gps, everything I can think of to isolate the issue. This phone is my in-car entertainment device, and if I can't use it for it's intended purpose, it's useless to me.
When attempting to to post a message <status update> via "Me" tile or "Facebook Application" I receive an error "Can't post message We're having trouble posting your message to Facebook" <from Me Tile> & "Your update could not be posted at this time." <Facebook Application>.However, in both I can like items in the feed and respond to posts.I've unlinked Facebook from Windows Live and relinked it already. I've removed Facebook from Accounts on the Phone and Re-added it to no avail. I am at a loss as to what else I could try to make it work.
This began after activating my new Lumia 900 on AT&T. I previously had an HTC Arrive on Sprint and tested it on there and it no longer can post status updated either.I feel like this either has to be a Facebook account setting or Windows Live account setting but I've tried everything I can think of and am now at a loss.ve unlinked Facebook from Windows Live and relinked it already.
Phone will not find updates 1020 after factory reset here is what I did.
1. Removed phone from windowsphone.com 2. Did a factory reset on phone 3. Told it to do a new phone from scratch not restore backup 4. Went through all the setup screens reconnected to MS account 5. Phone was reset up on windowsphone.com
