Last night there were several updates to apps and system settings. One of them had something to do with the display for Lumia devices, but it updated so quickly, I didn't see any info about it. This morning, my 1520 scrolling on the home page is flawless, even scrolling while trying to make it click.

this is my first WP, I made the jump from iPhone 5 to the Lumia 1520 with the Cyan update on ATT. I have noticed that apps like Facebook and Instagram take a long time to load updates when I am off wifi.
View 2 Replies View RelatedBackup is only backing up settings and not apps so if i try to back up the apps it gets stuck on 8%, if i turn app back up off and only backs up settings it will back up fine.
I am on 8.1.1 preview, I've deleted the preview app turned glance off and have no lock screen photo, tired soft reset & deleting old backups but still stuck ....
When I go to settings- about phone- system updates, the progress wheel just keeps turning forever. I had this problem a while ago and I was told my motoblur account was inactive. I'm assuming this has happened again somehow? How does this keep happening? I don't have any customization or rooting or anything like that. Obviously I don't want to have to perform a factory reset everytime I want to check for an update.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been pressing the "Check for updates" button frequently in anticipation for Cyan, but suddenly it's not working right. The "Checking for updates..." message will appear, but more than five minutes later, nothing happens. When the lock screen appears and I unlock it, it now says "Your phone is updated" but the "Last checked" date was the date of the last check when things are still ok.

I have recently bought a 1520 (a HK variant with GBIE firmware) and on inserting a giffgaff sim I can only access 3g/4g (there is no 4g in my area so it shifts to 2g then back to 3g, 3g signal isn't great).
Any way to enable access to 2g in the settings, if this is going to be changed in denim or if it is best to change the firmware version?

Got my 1520 in the mail today and haven't set it down yet. Very happy with the beautiful screen and nappy experience overall. However, when I go into the camera settings, I do not see any options for Aspect ratio, DNG, etc.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI dropped my Lumina 1520 over the weekend and trashed the screen and digitizer. Somewhat of a shock as it was less than a foot drop and I have the screen and the back protected with Ghost Armor. In any event, I have a new 1520 on the way.
My question is this. How do you transfer the device settings to the new phone? I have the option set to back it up to One Drive. I have not been successful finding a way to "restore" or download those settings.
so I have an odd problem with a 1520. It's been updated to 8.1 Cyan OTA and everything was fine. I reset it (the usual way in Settings / About / Reset Your Phone) but now any lumia-specific settings are no longer available, so no options for motion data, or glance, etc etc.
Nokia Recovery Tool, I don't have a windows PC, so I can't go down that route.
Where do i find on a 1520 the default wifi update settings.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI performed a hard reset on my 1520 due to the camera freezing up on me after I pressed the shutter button. However, a new issue has arrived. Once I set up my phone again, using my most recent backup, I signed into all of my apps as usual, and then I found myself in Settings setting up my notifications sounds, banners, etc. But, the list was very short. The only apps in the list were the initial apps on the phone: messaging, phone, the email accounts, etc. Before I performed my hard reset, the notifications list included 6tag, Kik, and every other app that had notification abilities. Now, they are gone.
View 2 Replies View RelatedDon't know if this was posted before, but I've found out that the screen sensitivity issue is related to screen brightness settings. If I switch auto brightness off and set it to medium, then the issue disappears. However, if I set it to high I can reproduce the issue immediately.
Touch sensitivity in settings is set to normal.
What are the best settings to use on my 1520 for photographing fireworks. I prefer the built in app, and I am on 8. If there is a better suited app, I am open to that as well.

I've been having issues regarding System App updates to my phone..... As well as other app updates (3rd Party)
I've used this to get the "extra+settings" and the "network+" updates using the QR codes BUT I've seen other System App updates that haven't been sent to my phone either.....
Does anyone have the QR codes for the other updates? i.e. the "display+touch" update
Just wondering what philosophies different users have with regards to storing applications. Do you store a particular type of apps on memory card or just any app?
View 18 Replies View RelatedAny time I try to download apps or update them they won't install and I get the same error message: "We're having trouble installing the app..." It says to try updating my phone but my phone is already updated. I don't know what to do. Someone suggested a factory reset and I did and I lost everything because I thought I had it backed up to my SD.
None of my pictures will show up either and when I take new ones they are pixelated and different colors.
I just reverted to WP8 so I can get the Cyan update. Now I can't seem to get back the apps I had before reverting.
I did the Settings>BackUp before I reverted to WP8.
On my 1520, at times the calendar and messaging app keypad will go to a light color and becomes blurry. Sometime it comes and goes. Sometimes I have to reset it. Sometimes I have to reset it multiple times to make it go away.

My question is should I allow apps to be installed on it. Or should I fill up the internal hd first (Still have over 7gb free space)
I want to add more music to my 1520, so I was thinking about getting a bigger microSD card. It's definitely outgrowing my 32GB one, so I have my sights on a 64GB (or maybe even a 128GB). I don't mind having to re-add my music to the new microSD. The major question here is: Can I move my apps (and data) from one microSD to another microSD smoothly and successfully?
I'd really don't want to have to re-download ALL of my apps onto the new microSD card. Downloading my apps to my phone's memory is not an option; the phone doesn't have enough free memory to accommodate my app catalog. I already know how I will do it...it's only a matter of if it can be done.
I am running Windows Phone 10 latest build on a Lumia 1520. Everything was working great except I had an issue with my bluetooth connection in the car so I decided to do a reset on the device to see if it would fix the problem. After the reset, the problem was fixed, however I have 7 apps that will just not install. I keep getting an error saying
"Application name needs to be installed on my internal hard drive. We'll override your settings only for this installation" (apps are installed on my SD Card). After I say OK, it will start downloading and then I get "Error, see details" and I get the same error message again. If I cancel the download, the next time I check for updates, these all come up again and I get the same error messages again.
I did not restore from backup, instead I did a clean install and downloaded all my apps again. The phone is faster and far less buggy.
Unfortunately, apps "disappear". Vine was installed, signed in, and pinned to the Start screen. Now it is a blank tile. In the app list I see the Vine app but the icon is just a black square. If I click on it I get a black screen that says "Resuming...".
Yesterday I replaced my SD Card from a San disk 32GB to a Sandisk 64GB for use with my Nokia Lumia 1520. Before I done that, I copied like for like the directories on the 32GB card to the 64GB card. Everything is there but its does not recognized my apps and i have to uninstall it the re-install it. Only apps installed on the phone are still there. Also my photos are there in the file manager but they don't come up in the Main Photo Gallery.

However there were some problems with the backup some threads in SMS and some messages in other threads were missing, but more annoyingly a large number of apps were not reinstalled.

Here's the issue, every time I attempt to take a picture using the camera button in the right side of the phone using the Nokia Camera app, my Lumia 1520 will start taking pictures non-stop other unless I exit the app to stop it. Now if I take the picture using the Nokia Camera app on-screen button the phone will only take a single picture. I remember that this problem was not present when I got my Lumia 1520 in January of this year. My thinking is that this problem has to do with a software update to the Nokia Camera app.
Strange thing I noticed. I like small text, so I changed from the standard 350% to 300%. Went to the store, and had 26 updates. This was yesterday.
While I do like the smaller, crisp font, the dialer numbers are very small, so I just re-set back to 350%. Went to the store and boom, there are, again, 26 updates.
What's with that? Do apps really install different versions depending on your font size? That seems pretty strange to me.
I just buy a nokia lumia 1520 less than 1 months after updating i see that the phone lags , sometime it take longer time to open an apps or freeze and restart automatically:
