I'm having trouble with my new Nokia Lumia 1520. My notifications for both Whatsapp and Viber dont work. They dont come up on my screen or in the notifications center, been trying for nearly 2 weeks now ! :(
View 6 RepliesI performed a hard reset on my 1520 due to the camera freezing up on me after I pressed the shutter button. However, a new issue has arrived. Once I set up my phone again, using my most recent backup, I signed into all of my apps as usual, and then I found myself in Settings setting up my notifications sounds, banners, etc. But, the list was very short. The only apps in the list were the initial apps on the phone: messaging, phone, the email accounts, etc. Before I performed my hard reset, the notifications list included 6tag, Kik, and every other app that had notification abilities. Now, they are gone.

I am on Denim using lastest Whatsapp version on Lumia 1520.
I have to open the messaging app to see if anybody has texted me. I've missed 2 very important time sensitive text messages already that have burned me.
I also have a band 2 (hate how it manages messages), but this problem occurs even when bluetooth and band 2 is off/not connected.
Nothing shows up on glance/lock screen even if I have messaging chosen to show quick status.
I have 8.1 on my 1520 and use my Bluetooth headset 97% of the time. I leave it connected all the time and noticed that I do not hear audible incoming text messages, e-mail alerts etc....... The alert sounds come through the Bluetooth headset, so just because I have my Bluetooth connected to my 1520 doesn't mean that I wear my headset all the time, so if I'm not wearing the headset a text message for example will come in and play the alert through the headset but I won't hear it obviously, so I have to check my phone periodically to see if I have text messages or e-mails that have come in.
My wife has even complained that I don't respond to her text messages right away the way I use to when I had my Note 2. On the Note my Bluetooth would be connected just like I do with my 1520, but the sounds/alerts would still be through the phone and audible for me to hear unless I put the phone on silent. Is this an oversight on MS part? Or just something that'll be fixed when the official 8.1 update rolls out???
My notifications for both Whatsapp and Viber do not work. I've tried resetting my phone, I've tried deleting the apps and re-downloading them but yet nothing works. The actual apps do not appear in the notifications + actions, as an option. I cannot turn on the notifications at all ! When I open Whatsapp I receive a message saying the following: Whatsapp detected an issue with your phone that will prevent you from recieving new message notifications. Please reboot your phone.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've had to install my System apps, such as Audio, Glance Screen, Network+.. and so on through Sysapp Pusher because for some reason when I do a factory reset under Cyan it removes them, which is not an issue... as long as they work.
One of the Apps I especially want is Call&Sms Filter as Iam getting spammed by cold calling and canvassing and recorded advertising.. sometimes as much as 3x a day at one point, but for some reason Filter wont work when I install it, even when I reboot my phone.. it says
"Cant open filter at the moment. Please try again Later or restart your phone"
Which ive done. I know im not the only one as many have had this issue but have solved it by a restart or rebooting the phone first then starting the app.. still wont work.
See the problem I have is that I have my own independent Alternative therapies business and i use this phone, which i answer automatically as it could be a client.. which isnt so bad if theres a live person on the other end because they just hang up as we all know cold canvassers can be charged for wasting a companies time and money.. but its the damn answering machine messages.
After using the phone for playing a game or some other cpu intensive app the phone gets hot. I noticed the camera will not work until the phone has cooled off. Everything else works except the camera in this situation.

View 12 Replies View RelatedThis is strange. I'm running the latest Technical Preview of W10M on my Lumia 1520, and have decided I want to revert to WP8.1.
I believe the way to do this is to use the Windows Device Recovery Tool, currently at V3.1.5.
The WDRT installs just fine. When I run it and plug in my phone, it correctly identifies it as a Lumia 1520, and my phone correctly asks permission to let its USB port be used (which I OK, of course).
WDRT says "Please select device to continue" and I click on the picture of the Lumia 1520. At that point it goes to the "Reading device information" page and just sits there forever, showing the spinning circle and "Please wait".
I can't seem to get facebook app notifications to work on my Nokia Lumia 920. I've selected 'toasts and tile count' and all the boxes underneath are ticked, yet i still don't recieve notifications. Even on my lock screen i don't recieve notifications.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just got a Lumia 950, and I'm not very happy .. I had my previous Lumia for 2.5 years with no issues .. I'm consistently losing the sound notifications on everything (ie: messaging, alarms, calendar, mail, etc).
I have gone through all of the banner checks, setting everything to "default sound", and consistently having to reset this stupid phone to get the sound to work for only a couple of days, before it goes away again, and I have to go through the process again ...
My phone is registered in HK and there's no update yet... Should i wait or flash a new rom. How to flash a new rom?I'm currently downgraded to WP8.. I don't wanna go back to WP8.1 dev preview as well. I hate the lags.

I know that all my album art is embedded and is there so am not sure why this is happening. My other option would be to use another music player which has the option to add art.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have three Lumia phones, a 920, a 1020, and a 1520. With each I just attach a USB, copy the camera roll files to my PC. With the first two, I open the video mp4 files on the PC and Windows Media player has no problem. Not so with the 1520, with any video file copied to the PC, it says: "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file." Again, the same video file plays fine on the 1520 that shot it.On the PC, Quicktime and Movie Maker choke on video files too. I tried a hard reset of the 1520 but it did nothing.
View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen listening to the Music app on my 1520 (16 GB ATT) and using my headphones, sometimes the volume will randomly get louder then quieter in a rhythmic motion.
It does not go from 0 to 30, its more like 5 up, then 5 down. The actual numbers of the volume stay the same, but I can definitely tell there is an increase and decrease. I've encountered this a few times from different artists (so it is not a style of the artist). Also, it seems to happen whenever the headphones are accidentally pulled out mid-song. After the song is over, the next song seems to be fine. Is there a work around other than waiting for the next song?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been pressing the "Check for updates" button frequently in anticipation for Cyan, but suddenly it's not working right. The "Checking for updates..." message will appear, but more than five minutes later, nothing happens. When the lock screen appears and I unlock it, it now says "Your phone is updated" but the "Last checked" date was the date of the last check when things are still ok.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy mom has a 1520 and every time she calls I can barely hear her but she can hear me quite well. Same thing happens when she calls others and they all complain they can hardly hear her. After 5 or 6 secs into the call the volume gets a little louder but not as loud as it should be. She even set it to full level at 10. I asked her to connect a headset/earphones while on the call and that actually worked and the volume was loud and clear but as soon as she unplugs the earphones, the volume drops to a very low level.

View 2 Replies View RelatedRunning the latest DP build of WP 8.1 (8.10.12397.895) and, of course, would like to downgrade back to WP 8 so I can get the Cyan update.
Problem is that my phone is not being recognized on any computer I plug it into.
I've tried two Win 8.1 machines, a Win 2K12 and a Win 7. On all of them, I've completely uninstalled all of the Nokia software (three of the four machines had never had the software installed) and then reinstalled both the NSU and NSU for Retail. No go.
I did a reset on my phone. No go.
I removed both the SIM and the SD card. No go.
I've toggled the hidden USB settings on the phone. No go.
I've rebooted the phone upteen times. No go.
The phone is simply not being detected by the desktop OS and is not being installed on the computer.
I've tried everything I can think of to get this to work.
