My Nokia phone died. I have a backup stored in Nokia PC Suite, but i can't view it - when i try to open it, the application says that no phone is connected and doesn't display the contents of the backup.
How do i view my backup (in particular the phonebook) without connecting to the phone?
I recently bought a factory-unlocked 32gb S6 (g920i) and spent the past few weeks setting up my applications, launcher, etc. For reasons that are not pertinent to my question, I've decided to return the S6 and replace it with a 32gb S6Edge (g925i).
Is there a way I can COMPLETELY clone all the apps, data, and settings between the two phones? I understand that the phones are close to identical but I suspect it is not safe to restore an S6 backup onto an S6Edge. Am I right about that? Assuming this is the case how can I preserve all my settings?
When I bought the S6 I migrated from a Moto X and it did a good job of installing my apps but none of the app-specific data or settings got transferred. Will SmartSwitch do this or do I need something like Helium?
So, I just bought a JB'en iphone 3g tonight.Went ahead and unlocked it using ultrasn0w.Connected it to my mac/itunes, and it asks "an iphone has been previously synced with this computer. setup as a new iphone -or- restore the backup of ***"So, since I had purchased apps using my *** phone (actually was an ipod touch that i got rid of), I'm thinking that I should restore the backup so that I can get my paid apps back for free.
Questions:
-will restoring this backup to the new unlocked phone restore it to its original locked state (i.e. will i have to re-jailbreak/unlock)? or will it simply restore preferences, etc...?
-otherwise, if i call this phone a new name, is there a way to transfer my purchased apps to the new phone's account?
coming from iPhone / iTunes where everything would backup as soon as I plug it into my Mac... is there a way to do a daily backup of my phone? So if something happened, I wouldn't lose my data?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a new C6-01 (and first-time Nokia owner) and having trouble with getting maps restored onto a new 32GB uSDHC card and need some help.
It is my understanding that I can backup and restore all my phone contents and settings to a new memory card using Nokia Suite. So what I did is performed a complete backup using Nokia Suite, ejected the old uSD card (that came with the phone), put in the new uSD card that I had purchased and format it, then performed a complete restore to the phone and the new memory card.
During the restore, I saw errors on the phone display that said something like disk write error and gave me the option of stop or retry. I hit the retry a few times and still getting the error. Thinking it may be a bad uSD card, I returned/exchanged for another identical one. With the 2nd new card, I still get the same error message so I rebooted the phone and ran restore again but this time instead of restore everything all at once, I selected a few items at a time and eventually got everything restored, at least without errors this time.
When I ran maps after the restore, it told me that I needed to download the maps, and when I tried to download it thru a WiFi connection (at my house), I keep getting Disk error - cannot complete write. Retry or data will be lost. At this point if I run Files, it will show drive E but not any free space number (and selecting it will show free space not available). A reboot will bring back drive E and show 29.4GB free. So I am completely stumped at this point and believe that for whatever the reason I can not get maps loaded onto a non-Nokia-provided memory card.
I am running Nokia Suite 3.5.34 on WIndows XP w/SP3. The new 32GB uSDHC card is a class 4 card made by Sandisk. The phone is running the Belle Refresh v111.040.1511 dated 7/28/2012. Map version: v3.09 12wk20 b01-MW OpenGL MN-Map version 0.2.46.103
for the large amount of information posted here, but I wanted to provide enough details for you to look at.
Backed up old 8520 before it was returned to manufacturer due to speaker fault. I received a new 8520 but now can't restore the data to the new phone. The screen just appears to hang whilst fetching the backup file.

Is it sufficient just to copy everything I have on the internal memory to the computer? Or are there some hidden partitions that I cannot easily access when I connect HTC to my computer with Ubuntu or Windows?
I have my Samsung Galaxy S6 but I'm very dissapointed to find out that the S6 is not supported at all by Kies 3. I had an S3 before, and I backed up all the data onto my PC with Kies 3, then factory reset the device and sent to a family member in another country who wanted it. You can imagine my frustration upon trying to restore that data to my S6 with Kies 3 only to find it telling me to use Smart Switch. However, Smart Switch only will allow you to restore backups from Apple, Nokia, or Blackberry devices. A Samsung rep has told me that there is no way to restore data backups on PC from a Samsung device to the Galaxy S6. This seems like a massive oversight to me, as Kies 3 was an amazing support program to me, and the only way to remedy my problem is to purchase an older Samsung device compatible with Kies 3, restore the data to that device, then Smart Switch from the older device to the S6.

Love the phone and very happy that I moved to it. The last thing I need is to find a way to move my Tribez app with the game data to my new HTC ONE. I have not had any success looking in the Play Store for a backup and restore utility that work on both devices and also move the app data with the app.

View 9 Replies View RelatedHow to get some pictures back. A long time ago my HTC One got smashed and I could not unlock the screen to get all the content off of it when I plugged into the computer. Well I moved and lost the phone, however, I still have the back up files in my dropbox. I used the HTC One Backup app to back it up and stored the backups in dropbox.
Those files are in there but it doesn't seem possible to restore them to my mac. I'm trying to avoid buying a used HTC One just to restore the backup and get the pictures.
Any way to restore that backup to a PC or Mac? Or any other way to get the pics out of those backup files?

I previously had an iPhone 5 (32GB). It took a swim and I now have a 4s (16gb). All of the information from the old phone is backed up on my iCloud. I would like to access some of it, not all of it. It takes up 3.4GB of my cloud, Is there anyway to tell/access it? I also have a newer ipad (32GB). I am getting a notice on my new phone that it can't back up because there is not enough space.Â

I option+clicked the restore button to point it to the backup that was made today, but when i go to the "/Users/username/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/backup" folder there are no clickable files to select. Am I looking in the right place? How do I restore from that most recent backup? I would like to do it without having to completely restore my phone again.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen you guys are getting your new iPhone 4s (mine is sitting in Memphis, TN and will be here tomorrow) are you "restoring from backup" to put everything you had on your old iPhone/3G/3GS onto your new iPhone 4? And if so are you running into any issues?
I'm trying to figure out if it would simply be better to activate my phone as new to avoid any headaches and worry about transferring everything later, but I can't seem to get some good information from those that have done either or. I'm afraid I might brick a new iPhone 4 if I try to restore it from an iPhone 3G 3.1.3 backup, or does it not work that way? I.e., will it just tranfer the files/music/pics/video/contacts/texts/apps/etc. to the iPhone 4 but not touch iOS4, or will it screw my new phone's OS up?
Also, I have been using an old Sony Vaio Windows XP laptop that was my primary iPhone 3G sync buddy, but will be switching computers next week when I receive a new i7 27" iMac. How do you move iTunes libraries to a new computer and re-associate your iPhone(s) with the new one?My iPhone 4 will be deactivating my old 3G and re-associating that account and phone number to the new phone. (rendering my 3G basically just a 16 GB iPod Touch) So what is the proper procedure when getting the new phone?
I had a text conversation, took a number of pictures and videos, etc. Then I come home, sync it with iTunes and with my backup, and all of that stuff vanishes. How can they give you an activated, functioning phone before you walk out of the store, but not tell you that you have No way of saving anything you do on it pre-iTunes sync?
