Huawei Nexus 6P :: TWRP Data Backup Didn't Backup Lock Pattern
Nov 17, 2015I reflashed all the factory images to my Nexus 6P (except userdata), and then restored a TWRP backup of the data partition. This worked, my phone boots up and obviously has my installed apps, etc. But... on the Nexus 6P when you restart the phone you have to enter your lock pattern or PIN. My phone was previously configured with a pattern. It seems the TWRP data backup didn't backup the lock pattern, because it doesn't recognize my pattern.
My fingerprint is recognized, but on the Nexus 6P you still have to enter the lock pattern or PIN when you first reboot. So, I have no way to get into the phone. I tried setting a new lock screen password with Android Device Manager, but it doesn't work. I still get the screen asking for the lock pattern. Is there any way I can get into my phone without blowing away all the data?

HTC One M7 :: Photos Auto-Backup Doesn't Getting Recognized When On WiFi
Jun 26, 2014I have been having this issue since my phone got the HTC Sense 6 update last week.
Some Google applications don't recognise when they are on WIFI to enable auto-backup / update / download features. In order to force a backup / update, I need to tell it to auto-backup using both Data Network and WIFI and then it backs up the data using WIFI.
I see the same behaviour in Play Music, only downloading data for streaming or for off-line playing if the setting is enabled for both Data Network and WIFI.
Auto update of applications hasn't worked since then, and they need to be forced manually.

Mar 31, 2012I have been trying to restore my iPhone 4S over iCloud since yesterday. Invariably, it will fail with the message that the iPhone is no longer connected to the internet. The wifi over which my iPhone is connected is also being used by four other computers that have no problems maintaining their connection with the internet. Currently, the estimated time remaining for the restore is 11 hours. It has come down from 52 hours. This over a broadband connection of 120Mb/sec down and 9 Mb/sec up. The size of the backup on iCloud from which I am trying to restore my iPhone is 8GB.

IPhone :: 4 Using Mobile Data When Connected Via Wifi For Backup?
May 3, 2012My iPhone 4 is at the latest iOS version. Ever since I started using it in December I've found out that at the same time every day(midnight) when connected to wifi it will use a considerable amount of 3G. I only recently found this out last month when I went over my monthly allowance.
I can only surmise that iCloud is somehow using the mobile data connection to backup when I've locked my phone, plugged it into the wall to charge and am asleep.
My wife has the same phone and does the same thing as I do at night but her phone doesn't use any 3G data when backing up.
Having checked my mobile bill for the last few months it is at exactly midnight that the phone starts using 3G data.....every night, without fail!

May 11, 2012Recently my iPhone 4's lock button collapsed and it is now longer functioning. In reaction to this I visited the Genius Bar and they informed me that it could not be repaired and that I was required, due to my warranty being up, to pay £120 for a replacement. This was as much as I expected at the time. However, shortly afterwards the wifi connection stopped working and my iPhone can no longer sustain connection outwith 2m from the router.
I then phoned my insurance company with this problem, and they informed me that I willbe unable to claim for a replacement as it is a manufacturing defect and not damage. Despite my warranty being up, is there any grounds for argument that such a hardware defect, outside of my control, is reason to claim for a free or reduced price replacement from Apple? I am unsure where I stand. I have had this phone since May 2011 and it seems ridiculous that a phone that comes with a 2 month contract cannot last, without accident, for the same duration.

Sep 17, 2015I recently bought a factory-unlocked 32gb S6 (g920i) and spent the past few weeks setting up my applications, launcher, etc. For reasons that are not pertinent to my question, I've decided to return the S6 and replace it with a 32gb S6Edge (g925i).
Is there a way I can COMPLETELY clone all the apps, data, and settings between the two phones? I understand that the phones are close to identical but I suspect it is not safe to restore an S6 backup onto an S6Edge. Am I right about that? Assuming this is the case how can I preserve all my settings?
When I bought the S6 I migrated from a Moto X and it did a good job of installing my apps but none of the app-specific data or settings got transferred. Will SmartSwitch do this or do I need something like Helium?
Motorola Droid Bionic :: Screen Lock Disconnects Wifi Until Unlocked?
Nov 29, 2011I recently noticed that my Bionic appears to disconnect from wifi when the screen locks. When I unlock the screen (and I have the dot pattern unlock), there's no wifi icon for a few seconds.
I have unlimited data, but still keep my DB on wifi all the time at home and the office. I'm guessing the DB goes into 4G or 3G mode when locked, which could be problematical if I had a measured data plan. Anyone else notice this behavior?

Questions:
-will restoring this backup to the new unlocked phone restore it to its original locked state (i.e. will i have to re-jailbreak/unlock)? or will it simply restore preferences, etc...?
-otherwise, if i call this phone a new name, is there a way to transfer my purchased apps to the new phone's account?

Oct 13, 2012I recently purchased a new C6-01 (and first-time Nokia owner) and having trouble with getting maps restored onto a new 32GB uSDHC card and need some help.
It is my understanding that I can backup and restore all my phone contents and settings to a new memory card using Nokia Suite. So what I did is performed a complete backup using Nokia Suite, ejected the old uSD card (that came with the phone), put in the new uSD card that I had purchased and format it, then performed a complete restore to the phone and the new memory card.
During the restore, I saw errors on the phone display that said something like disk write error and gave me the option of stop or retry. I hit the retry a few times and still getting the error. Thinking it may be a bad uSD card, I returned/exchanged for another identical one. With the 2nd new card, I still get the same error message so I rebooted the phone and ran restore again but this time instead of restore everything all at once, I selected a few items at a time and eventually got everything restored, at least without errors this time.
When I ran maps after the restore, it told me that I needed to download the maps, and when I tried to download it thru a WiFi connection (at my house), I keep getting Disk error - cannot complete write. Retry or data will be lost. At this point if I run Files, it will show drive E but not any free space number (and selecting it will show free space not available). A reboot will bring back drive E and show 29.4GB free. So I am completely stumped at this point and believe that for whatever the reason I can not get maps loaded onto a non-Nokia-provided memory card.
I am running Nokia Suite 3.5.34 on WIndows XP w/SP3. The new 32GB uSDHC card is a class 4 card made by Sandisk. The phone is running the Belle Refresh v111.040.1511 dated 7/28/2012. Map version: v3.09 12wk20 b01-MW OpenGL MN-Map version 0.2.46.103

Apr 10, 2015I have my Samsung Galaxy S6 but I'm very dissapointed to find out that the S6 is not supported at all by Kies 3. I had an S3 before, and I backed up all the data onto my PC with Kies 3, then factory reset the device and sent to a family member in another country who wanted it. You can imagine my frustration upon trying to restore that data to my S6 with Kies 3 only to find it telling me to use Smart Switch. However, Smart Switch only will allow you to restore backups from Apple, Nokia, or Blackberry devices. A Samsung rep has told me that there is no way to restore data backups on PC from a Samsung device to the Galaxy S6. This seems like a massive oversight to me, as Kies 3 was an amazing support program to me, and the only way to remedy my problem is to purchase an older Samsung device compatible with Kies 3, restore the data to that device, then Smart Switch from the older device to the S6.
