so here's the situation, i upgraded to ios4, which worked great. but then i switched providers and the new provider needs a jailbroken phone (telus) so i tried to do that. i hit one step in one of the jailbreaking apps that said to restore, so i tried. then i got the 1015 error, and now iphone just says "itunes" with the USB cable, and when i try and restore, i get the 1015 error.

View 24 Replies View RelatedI decided to upgrade my 3G which was running on 3.0 an Tmobile.I plugged it in - started itunes - hit upgrade. It took 30-40 mins and restarted with 4.0 but below (attachment) is what I see when I connect it. I am looking at this link URL... to jailbrake it - but i did not do what it says as step 2. I just upgraded directly from Itunes - then once it was done I saw iClarified - is it too late? I'm downloading ipsw right now and hoping that I can still jailbrake and unlock?
View 24 Replies View Relatedwhen i doublepress the home button and the multitasking drawer opens up, it appears to be empty. i can tell this is a problem because when i use sbsettings and check the running processes, i see many apps are still running. at the very least i should see ipod controls in the drawer.this wasnt always the case, i know that right when i finished jailbreaking (before i synced all my apps over itunes) i did see ipod controls and sms in the drawer (those were the only 2 apps i tried before doing that initial sync). i then synced over any apps i had but failed to install anything that was from installous (depending on appsync). that was expected. i think (not sure really) that when the official apps loaded i was still able to have apps appear in the multitasking drawer. i think installed aptbackup from cydia and tried to restore all. i manually chose installous and appsync 4.0 from cydia because i noticed that they didnt install after the restore all. i then synced again with itunes. now i got all my installous apps back on the phone. this is when i checked the multitasking drawer again and i didnt have any icons! so i am going to assume its one of the cydia packages thats giving me this issue. i was hoping someone here might have a clue as to which package might cause this. i got a list of all my packages i am sharing below:

edit: i just noticed that the package for appsync31 looks like its still installed which is probably a bad thing. when i go through cydia it is not installed, this is the output of dpkg so i trust that this is accurate. any idea of how to remove that package without cydia?
edit 2: now i'm not really sure what is going on with that package, i am trying to use dpkg to remove it but this is what i get when i try to find out the status of that package

I also had this problem since I upgraded my 3GS on Thursday. I did a full restore from a backup, and my internet still wasn't working. Like others, my WiFi was working though. From information I gleaned, it's either corrupt APN settings, or I think in my case (I checked and my APN settings were blank), that updating it just deleted them altogether.
On your phone tap Settings > General > Network > Cellular Data Network.
If it's all blank like mine, you need to find out your carriers APN settings and input them. Restart the phone, and it should work.
I tried updating to IOS4 just now with iphone 3g, however in the middle of installation it comes up with error below:
Please help, iphone is stuck now on connect to itunes, only each time i conect it says iphone is in recovery mode and needs to be restored, so i click restore and it comes up with that error in the picture each time.
anybody ever encounter this annoying issue with ios4 when you keep getting 'call failed' constantly until you either reboot, turn 3g off, turn on and off airplane mode? i am able to receive calls when this happens but its annoying that i have reset everytime when it happens. i notice it happens about the same time after i get off work when i get home. i know i can send and receive text.

Tonight a friend and myself were JUST talking about backing up our files on cydia, so I open cydia to look around and boom.. Phone is froze. Reset it and it has the wonderful plug into itunes..I try to jailbreak and it fails now. *Yes, its tethered because its newer.. BUT its still 3.1.2. I went to use itunes to restore and it wants to put 3.1.3 on there.. NOT good.I rely on the jailbreak to use my phone, now its dead. Is there a way I can fix this thing? I have a mac and a pc I can try things on.I hope I can get it working, or else I am totally screwed.. Just bought the phone for 750 dollars last month, and now again I am stuck with nothing. I feel sick to my stomach.

I use my Vodafone Storm2 in England and have done for about 7 months now. I have a £40 per month contract with unlimited text messages, 600 minutes, unlimited emails, unlimited internet. However, I am going to the States for a six week internship from July 5th and want to take my BlackBerry. If I do nothing and use it over there, I could potentially rack up near to £15 extra per day! I'm hoping someone more inclined with iPhones than I would be able to present me with some options for jailbreaking my two iPhone 3GS's.
Here's my scenario:
iPhone 3GS #1 has 4.0.1 iOS. 05.13.04 bootrom. No SHA1 blobs.
iPhone 3GS #2 is brand new and right out of the box with no SIM inside it.
My goal is to ultimately jailbreak and unlock both, but there is so much information on the web and walkthroughs can be misleading. Delving through all of this information with all of the trial and error involved is quite tedious. If anyone knowledgeable on the forums would be able to share with me what ever would be the most painless way to jailbreak both of these devices, I would extremely appreciate it!
I am also running Mac OS 10.6.4 and iTunes ver. 10.
