It just seems to connect whenever, even if I'm not expecting it, I don't have a data plan and don't intend on having one.Is there anyway to set it use use Wifi instead? Certain features I would only use in house.GPS is there anyway to just use the internal GPS and not the network? View 1 Replies View Relatedi am using GPRS services for now almost an year and half. i was having windows mobile till 16th Sept'11 on which i was using gprs very happily but on 17th Sept'11, i did purchase Xperia mini from G. V. Puntambekar(Pune based dealer). The phone is now installed OS as Andriod 2.3. Ever since i have purchased the phone i am not able to use GPRS services on it. I did speak to Airtel (my current service provider) and whatever settings they have given but not able to save them on my phone bcoz it asks for MCC and then MNC code. hence after talking to Airtel somehow i got these code. but depite of entering them into the settings along with other settings, i am still not able to use gprs. i was told that once you save the gprs manual settings it creates a profile on phone but it is not saving any profile on my phone. Sony dealer is sayingthat it is a service provider problem and Service provider is saying that we have given you all the settings so it is a phone manufacturer's problem. I am getting penalised in these two contradictory statements. Without GPRS the phone is like any ordinary phone. I feel like cheated even after paying Rs.13000/- and buying Sony's product. Feels like lesson learnt that never buy SONY product again..

I have a £40 per month contract with unlimited text messages, 600 minutes, unlimited emails, unlimited internet. However, I am going to the States for a six week internship from July 5th and want to take my BlackBerry. If I do nothing and use it over there, I could potentially rack up near to £15 extra per day! I obviously do not want to do that. Can I unlock my BlackBerry here and then pick up a SIM when I get over to the States? If so could I send emails, texts and make calls without being charged? How would I go about getting such a SIM and what would I want to look for?

Called Verizon and they only gave me a refund for no data today, but wouldn't say why or how long. I guess its on there end since they didn't even try to see if my phone was the problem.

I've tried WindowsLiveMessenger - YahooMess for blackberry and they will only work on BIS.
I've tried ebuddy, but there's no ebuddy for blackberry. So I have to use ebuddyLITE and it is not great for chatting (refreshing all the time and its not user friendly)

This is a pitty as the application is rather nice.The app does show settings for the GPRS, 3G and Wi-Fi bitrates, so obviously it does support these connections.I've deleted and re-installed, to no avail.

I have tried creating new access point but every time I connect it uses gprs although packet data connection is selected to 'when connected'. I have deleted the access points through personnel settings but still some access points are available through packet data. Is it because of that gprs is activated? If yes, how can I delete them?

I was really impressed with the phone at such a cheap price since I am a teen, the 8520 is perfect for me. But I downloaded a few apps which I can use at home when theres wifi but i cannot use the Twitter, Facebook, UberTwitter apps when not at home (No wifi). Does anyone have the same problems? When i try to log in or connect without Wifi, It does not connect. And on Ubertwitter, The app keeps running but it doesnt connect to gprs/wap. View 3 Replies View Relatedfor the past week i am facing a intermittent connectivity issue in my ray, My GPRS plan is enabled and spoke to the network provider for the settings, but the issue is whenever i turn my gprs on the little arrow mark never comes in the notification bar even if i wait for a couple of minutes nothing happens, so i restarted my phone and GPRS started to work fine and after 15 - 30 minutes the connection drops automatically. Its really a pain because it works only for little time, but not its not conencting anymore.
Troubleshooting that i have tried?
1. Deleted the APN and manually added new APN by contacting my network provider
2. Restored my phones system settings ( After doing this the internet worked for a day and automatically dropped of, No its not even connecting )

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an unlocked TELUS Storm playing GSM on a Philippines carrier called Smart. The data connection and call reception quality here has been nothing but horrible. Dropped calls/Calls failed, etc are pretty rampant around here (no matter what part of town you're in)
Anyway, I'd _like_ to think it may be something to do with the fact that the device is not Smart authorized/sold device. However, the backward nature of cellphone networks here could argue me down.
Long story short, now that you know my troubles.. when I'm on a full GPRS/EDGE connection, I pull up the browser. Once I start getting ready to type in a URL, the GPRS/EDGE goes to gprs/edge. It happens about 98% of the time. This same thing happens when I go to URL from an email/sms etc. I can't seem to figure it out. I've been on .328, but upgrading to .419 as we speak. Thoughts would be nice.
My 8 month old X8 which I recently upgraded to android2.1 gets very hot while using 3G or GPRS internet services, and the stock battery doesn't even lasts for a day after a full recharge since the update. Performance is set for optimum battery life but it doesn't facilitate. Are these two problems related?
