View 7 RepliesAm i wrong to point out that everyone taking the risk of messing with thier sim by cutting it down is, in fact, taking an unnecessary risk? Reports are coming in that UK carriers are supplying micro sims to those who are registering interest and are existing customers... so why risk it?
View 12 Replies View RelatedSo since the iPhone 4 will have a Micro SIM, how will I get my info and stuff off of my current SIM card and put it onto the Micro SIM? I am most likely going to order and have the iPhone 4 shipped to my Apple Store so I can pick it up first thing in the morning. Will the Apple Store be able to transfer the cards, or will I have to go to the ATT store later and have them do it? Also, think ATT would charge me anything for doing it? Thanks Guys.

My IOS is 5.1 and phone is 4S.Everything is working fine expect Facetime using mobile number(Facetime is working for my Apple ID)I searched Google for 4-5 days for solution and tried all options. Yesterday, I restored and installed as a new iPhone. So whenever I try to activate Facetime, it sends an international SMS costing me Rs. 5. But my iMessage or Facetime doesn't activate at all and shows the message "Waiting for activation" When I login using Apple ID, i can able to use Facetime but not using my phone number. I tried different solutions found on the internet but with no luck. The message is sent to UK number but I never receives any reply or any further message from Facetime.

Existing AT&T customer. Full size SIM. My new iPhone 4 arrives in the mail. Micro SIM pre-installed. Connect to iTunes. During activation, service transfers to new micro SIM? Old SIM dead. Happy day with my new iPhone. Is that how it should play out?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have the iPhone 3GS, iPad 3G, iPhone 4 and a micro sim adapter.I would like to use the new micro sim from the iPhone 4 to use on one of these three devices at a time as I choose. Is this possible? I'm aware of the changes to the iPad APN that needs to be made. Also, if the new micro sim will not allow me to do it, can I just cut my exising sim from my 3GS and use on the iPhone 4 instead? Main concern is AT&T detecting and either charging me additionally or disabling data plan on my account.
View 6 Replies View RelatedThere has been a number of reports that the iPhone 4 micro sim does not work in the iPad. I have just got my O2 uk iPhone 4 micro sim to work in my iPad and this is how. On your iPhone 4 go to settings> general> network>cellular data network and make a note of the cellular data APN, username and password. Then remove your micro sim and put in the iPad. It will appear not to work. However go to settings>cellular data>APN settings and insert the settings you noted down from the iPhone 4. It will work and you can use you iPhone 4 data account.

I am 99% sure I did it correctly as it all works now, but the Galaxy S2 won't recognise my ThreeUK Sim anymore. It recognises others such as orange and t-mobile (It's Unlocked with Root). I put the old charger flex cable back in and it's working with my ThreeUK sim but it won't charge again so I want to know, does the charger flex cable change what sim cards it can read etc? I don't want to order cable to fix my phone before I know what to look for in it in case that has the same problems as the one I've ordered.
View 5 Replies View RelatedHow did I delete my Contacts? Here's what happened:
1. I had a good set of contacts in the phone itself, and on the SD card.
2. Trying to determine if Wifi Calling could possibly work with no sim installed, or with a dead Tmo sim installed, I tried both ways, in that order. (In fact, though different messages appeared, neither scenario worked. Both times, my SD was in the Defy. And the dead sim had never been used in the Defy.) I had to sign into Motoblur during this exercise.
3. I put my good sim back in.I signed back into Motoblur.I noticed during the evening that incoming calls did not show the caller etc etc etc. In fact, I had no contacts, said the phone. Not even, apparently, in the phone memory.
4. I imported contacts from the SD card. A couple recent changes made to the phone memory contacts were not present.
What in the previous steps caused my phone contacts to disappear? Just loading up a dead sim? Could it have really been so dumb as to attempt to generate a new (blank) set from that sim without asking, saying 'this will replace your contacts; do you want to continue? Though that sim had been used in a Moto Spice, Android 2.1, I cannot say with certainty that I'd ever exported the Spice XT300 contacts to the sim.And now, I decide to export the contacts to the SIM for safety sake. I see only one item, My Info. I choose All Contacts (at the top) , and it sits there seemingly forever, doing nothing. The only thing I can do is back out of that. There's 'Select All' at the bottom left, but it can't be clicked if All Contacts was. If I do that instead, it just selects me.
I rebooted, and got nothing different.I only have 100 contacts. So if those 100 are in the phone memory, why won't they export? If they're not in there, then where did the Import from SD put them?

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy mom gave me her iPhone 4 to use as a touch after she deactivated her sim. I did a clean restore because there was an issue with the battery life. I cannot send SMS so is there any legit way to activate Facetime?
Also will the 4.1 patch change the process of activating Facetime for iphone?
So, my family decided to all upgrade to the new iPhone. The three of us would all be getting the 16GB, so about $600 for the phones, and then an activation fee (another $100 added to that). Seems like a lot, especially since I noticed that the Online Store would allow us to go without the Activation Fee about two weeks ago...
Also, how would we go about doing this? With the new restriction of only one iPhone per customer, and only one per household, how are we to do this? If all three of us went together, would we be able to get all three iPhones? Would going to an Apple Store help? And if so, is there a way to waive the Activation Fee there? If this can be done without physically going to the store, please let me know. (Older folks don't want to get up and wait just for a phone, but they don't get us Apple folk .)
I thought I would share my experience of trying to get my activation fee waived.Well it took me 3 calls to ATT but I finally got my fee waived as a one time courtesy. My first two calls ended in failure. I was polite yet stern with both reps and told them I think its absurd to charge $36 activation fee on a phone that I activated myself and that I think paying $2000 over two year contract is worthy for them to waive this bogus $36 charge. Both reps talked to supervisors but told me there was no way they could remove the fee because it is a legitimate charge due to a deal they have with apple. They said if it was any other phone but the Iphone they could do it.
At this point i didnt think it was possible to get it waived but I decided to call one more time and try. This time a guy picked up and I asked him if there was anyway they could waive the activation fee. He didnt need to speak to any supervisor and just straight up told me that he understands my complaint and will remove the fee as a one time courtesy. It was so simple and yet it saved me $42 on my first bill. HUGE!So if anyone is having problems trying to get there activation fee waived I suggest to keep calling back until you get a decent rep. SO yeah be persistent and it could save you some money.
For those who've received their phones today, how long is it taking you to get activated?

today i was trying to update my iPhone 4S from iOS 5.0to 5.1.1. No problems restoring it, but when i try to activate it,the process fails every time. It seems that Apple Activation servers are down?Im a computer enthusiast and have already checked my home network for issues that can block access to apple servers, also checked from another network and machines, but still no luck. Tried to activate using WiFi on my iPhone, 3G network, and even Connect to iTunes on my PC. I noticed that apple activation server is gs.apple.com. Pinging it from any source on my network just generates timeouts, and even tried to ping it from online pages that provide ping service (ping.eu), but it generates timeouts too.Non modified iPhone 4S - black
