How did I delete my Contacts? Here's what happened:
1. I had a good set of contacts in the phone itself, and on the SD card.
2. Trying to determine if Wifi Calling could possibly work with no sim installed, or with a dead Tmo sim installed, I tried both ways, in that order. (In fact, though different messages appeared, neither scenario worked. Both times, my SD was in the Defy. And the dead sim had never been used in the Defy.) I had to sign into Motoblur during this exercise.
3. I put my good sim back in.I signed back into Motoblur.I noticed during the evening that incoming calls did not show the caller etc etc etc. In fact, I had no contacts, said the phone. Not even, apparently, in the phone memory.
4. I imported contacts from the SD card. A couple recent changes made to the phone memory contacts were not present.
What in the previous steps caused my phone contacts to disappear? Just loading up a dead sim? Could it have really been so dumb as to attempt to generate a new (blank) set from that sim without asking, saying 'this will replace your contacts; do you want to continue? Though that sim had been used in a Moto Spice, Android 2.1, I cannot say with certainty that I'd ever exported the Spice XT300 contacts to the sim.And now, I decide to export the contacts to the SIM for safety sake. I see only one item, My Info. I choose All Contacts (at the top) , and it sits there seemingly forever, doing nothing. The only thing I can do is back out of that. There's 'Select All' at the bottom left, but it can't be clicked if All Contacts was. If I do that instead, it just selects me.
I rebooted, and got nothing different.I only have 100 contacts. So if those 100 are in the phone memory, why won't they export? If they're not in there, then where did the Import from SD put them?
My Defy is denied application on the market with no reason that I understand. Some apps are not visible from the phone, and are said "non compatible" from the market website. Sometime the website talks of country restriction while they should not be.
I have been reading a lot of posts on here and all the problems experienced with the Defy and different versions of Android that I am just wondering what really is the best version to use on the Defy that has the least problems?I have seen posts saying that 2.2 is buggy but not as buggy as 2.1. But now I have recently seen a post where the OP is wanting to downgrade from 2.2 I believe back down to 2.1 due to problems. What exactly is the issue, is it the operating system (software) or the actual phone itself (hardware)? Do these different versions of Android work any better on other phones like HTC, Samsung, etc or are there just as many bugs/hangs/freezes?For now I think I'm sticking with 2.1. I like my Defy but I'm not convinced I should buy a Motorola product again unless the Google takeover drastically improves their customer services and product support, especially after-sales.
I wanted to install Let's Golf 3 via Android Market which requires 2.2 minimum. But I am not able to do so as Android Market still thinks my Defy runs 2.1.
I'm going to buy a phone, a Motorola Defy, and i was wondering if i could use it as an enviroment to building android apps. The apps will be simple, nothing fancy.
So the question is: can i use this phone to build android apps?
My brand new defy plus restarts every 5-10 mins whenever i m using an activated sim card. However, i have a deactivated sim which catches no signal. When i use this deactivated sim, it works absolutely fine without any restart issues.
I have had my Sony Ericsson W995 for almost a year now, and the contacts keep swapping themselves around, I had to get the backup from my memory card which is really old, but my problem is, if two contacts start with the same letter, they jumble themselves around. I.E, I will have a friend called David (Which isn't his name, by the way) and that will be right under Dad. David will become the same number as Dad, therefore making me have to get Davids number again.
A new version of Android, Android 4.0 "Ice cream sandwich " is due by the end of the year from Google.
amongst the features, Google have said that it will work on all android handsets, regardless of their age, and that the Ice cream sandwich version of android will intelegently adapt itself to suit the hardware its installed on. [URL]
I am having this weird issue where most of the Android Market Apps show up as incompatible with my Defy without MotoBlur. Is this because of the absence of MotoBlur and is there some way to fix this? I'm attaching a couple of screenshots of how it appears on the Android Market webpage.
I have upgraded my defy yesterday morning and then it hang 3-4 times. So I did factory reset yesterday night. But now also problem remains it hangs some time, the new upgrade has Task Manager, but it keeps showing CPU: 100% alert. I wonder if only my maps and browser is open, why does it show the sign? Now also while I am typing this from mobile, it is giving same alert with only browser running. Isn't it made for multi-tasking? And also (problem not of topic) my market's page doesn't upgrade itself. It keeps running on old format.
I have a number of contacts in my corporate sync, after syncing they are automatically copied and linked with a duplicate entry in contacts. Now on the phone this is OK as it is reported as a linked profile, but when I use my bluetooth car kit the phone book is reporting 2 entries for each name how can I prevent this?
I connected my Defy+ to the computer for the first time and a program called Motorola Media Link loaded, but that doesn't allow me to access the contacts, appointments etc. Just photos and music and sync function.
how do I access the contacts on the computer so that I can edit them and transfer from another program?
I use to have a Cliq, but now I have upgraded to a Defy. On T-Mobile network in the US. It has motoblur and is android version 2.2.1. The model number is MB525. Inside of my accounts tab I have:
if I open the google or tmobile accts I can click boxes to sync them, but on the top 4 motoblur accts when i open them it just allows me to put in the login and password.when I go into my contacts tab it shows no facebook contacts. if I click the button on which groups to show it doesnt have facebook as an option, just create new group, all contacts, favorites, family room, and starred in android.
I found one place that said to delete my facebook acct on the phone, turn the phone off, delete the motoblur app on my facebook acct, then turn phone back on and add the facebook acct. I did that and it went back and added the motoblur to my facebook acct, now under todays date, so I know it is accepting the password and making contact with my facebook, it just isnt adding any of the contacts.I also went and downloaded the facebook app on the android store because one site said that would do it.. but alas it didnt. I notice a lot of people are having this problem with non us and non motoblur phones, but mine is US and motoblur.
When you sync your contacts to your PC using the Moto Phone Portal, does anyone know whereabouts that contact data is saved on your computer?I have recently switched to a new computer but have a backup of everything from the old one. I am just not sure on whereabouts the data was saved though to be able to put it back in the right place on my new pc so I can add the contacts back to my phone which is now upgraded from Eclair.
I had recently purchased my first Android device, a Moto Defy+. This is not a carrier locked phone.
I use my gmail contacts as the default address book and when i signed up for Moto blur account, it somehow made a backup of all my gmail contacts on motoblur. Now, i can see the same contact details twice for every address book entry. During the backup process, motoblur deleted the leading zeros from all phone numbers. Even though gmail is my default address book, the phone picks up motoblur stored info while making calls - due to which I am now unable to make long distance calls from my phone unless i manually go and edit/delete the phone numbers from the motoblur section on the address book. needless to say, this is very irritating as i have over a 1000 contacts.
How do i delete all my contacts from the motoblur section? i do not really use the motoblur account for anything and if deleting the motoblur account is a solution, i'll be happy to do that. however, i do not want to do a factory setting restore.
I was using MissingSync from Mark/Space with my previous Android phone all right. Now I tried to get some new contact groups and new contacts to sync between Mac (10.6) and Defy ... but the new group did not sync, and newly added contacts on the defy did not sync back to the mac.So I looked around and found SyncMate from Eltima. Looked good, especially as it syncs free Contacts and iCal native.iCal sync works fine ... after some good syncs in Contacts, strane things happen:On the Defy, in the menu there is a button Hide/Show - when I press it, Contacts application closes (no error msg). Then, all groups are gone. I cannot create a new group. Grops are not synced from the Mac to the Defy. When you open the groups drop down list, there are the buttons:
- create a new group
- all contacts
- service dialign numbers
- Favorites
- .. the various groups ... (that are gone)
- and below, I cannot recall exactly, a "Contacts" or "My Contacts" voice, with an android/phone device as symbol.gone that too.So, is the Contacts application data corrupt?I the application itself corrupt?Did syncmate tamper with date and/or application?
The problem is that, I clicked the green button with a phone logo at the bottom of the homepage, then clicked the tab "Contacts", the phone force close it,and also the signal drops to emergency calls only. Before I discovered this problem, I just set a speed dial for my mum's contactand made a call with the dialler by pressing the number keyboard but not the contacts.
Just want to know if there could be any other way in linking the contacts with my facebook account because there's no motoblur feature for defy here. Do i need to install a third party app to be able to link it?
