IPhone 5 :: IOS 8.0.2 / Activation Required Every Time When Turn It On
Dec 1, 2014A few days ago I got an email from someone who looked familiar to my contacts so I opened it but soon realized it was spam with a weird link, and quickly deleted it without clicking the link. My phone started acting funny so I turned it off and back on and it told me "Activation Required", so I did and all of my setting preferences were lost, like my ringtone and read receipts and all the little things that annoy me. (I've had this phone for over a year) Then I opened Instagram and it had kicked me out so I immediately changed my password. All of my other social media was fine and let me in. I set all of my preferences again but it keeps asking me if I want read receipts like every time I message. Also every single time I turn my phone on it requires activation. If it was spam, what do I do to clear it without losing absolutely everything? And is there a way for me not to activate every time I turn it on?

Jun 29, 2012My iphone 4s is totally FUBAR. I tried the reset that involves deleting everything and starting over. I can't get past the following even in iTunes: we are unable to continue with your activation at this time. Please try again later, or contact customer care. I've tried several times for 2 days now with the same results. What now? This nonsense all started after a week of getting NO SERVICE displayed on the upper left corner of my phone even though I know there is nothing wrong with the service here.

Jun 4, 2014I have an iphone 4 which was working fine. I tried to update it but this time I used a computer running xp. When I did so I got an error. Since getting this error my iphone will not turn on. I am not even getting apple logo. It does show up in itunes but I get the message:"We're sorry, we are unable to continue with your activation at this time."
I have tried holding down the home and power button to do a restore and nothing is happening.

Mar 14, 2010My iPhone 3GS is set to change time automatically with the Daylight Savings change. That worked as the phone time itself is correct, but the times for the different places in the built-in World Clock app are still off by an hour (they are on the old time). This is also true of my husband's iPhone 3G. Strangely, I have an iPod touch that adjusted both its system time and the World Clock times without difficulty.
I have tried syncing the phone, toggling on/off the update time automatically, and rebooting, but the time is still incorrect. If I try adding a new place, it will also have the wrong time.
There may also be an issue with other apps - the ESPN app had the start time of a game today off by an hour as well.
Does anyone have any ideas as to how to fix this?
Edit: To clarify, the times are wrong for US cities that do observe DST, such as New York, Chicago, etc.

Jun 29, 2014I receive messages from people hours after they tell me they sent them but when I receive them it has the current time listed, as if it was just sent. It would be fantastic to know the msg was sent at 10am and now being 2:30pm, I can have a better reply. It's definitely with the phone, because I know a few of the people have the same service provider but different phones. When messages are received on my wifes phone, it shows when they were sent, not the current time. I've looked at my settings but do not see a way to change this, is there a way?

May 25, 2010So since the iPhone 4 will have a Micro SIM, how will I get my info and stuff off of my current SIM card and put it onto the Micro SIM? I am most likely going to order and have the iPhone 4 shipped to my Apple Store so I can pick it up first thing in the morning. Jun 10, 2010So, my family decided to all upgrade to the new iPhone. The three of us would all be getting the 16GB, so about $600 for the phones, and then an activation fee (another $100 added to that). Seems like a lot, especially since I noticed that the Online Store would allow us to go without the Activation Fee about two weeks ago...
Also, how would we go about doing this? With the new restriction of only one iPhone per customer, and only one per household, how are we to do this? If all three of us went together, would we be able to get all three iPhones? Would going to an Apple Store help? And if so, is there a way to waive the Activation Fee there? If this can be done without physically going to the store, please let me know. (Older folks don't want to get up and wait just for a phone, but they don't get us Apple folk .)

Aug 18, 2010I thought I would share my experience of trying to get my activation fee waived.Well it took me 3 calls to ATT but I finally got my fee waived as a one time courtesy. My first two calls ended in failure. I was polite yet stern with both reps and told them I think its absurd to charge $36 activation fee on a phone that I activated myself and that I think paying $2000 over two year contract is worthy for them to waive this bogus $36 charge. Both reps talked to supervisors but told me there was no way they could remove the fee because it is a legitimate charge due to a deal they have with apple. They said if it was any other phone but the Iphone they could do it.
At this point i didnt think it was possible to get it waived but I decided to call one more time and try. This time a guy picked up and I asked him if there was anyway they could waive the activation fee. He didnt need to speak to any supervisor and just straight up told me that he understands my complaint and will remove the fee as a one time courtesy. It was so simple and yet it saved me $42 on my first bill. HUGE!So if anyone is having problems trying to get there activation fee waived I suggest to keep calling back until you get a decent rep. SO yeah be persistent and it could save you some money.

May 27, 2012today i was trying to update my iPhone 4S from iOS 5.0to 5.1.1. No problems restoring it, but when i try to activate it,the process fails every time. It seems that Apple Activation servers are down?Im a computer enthusiast and have already checked my home network for issues that can block access to apple servers, also checked from another network and machines, but still no luck. Tried to activate using WiFi on my iPhone, 3G network, and even Connect to iTunes on my PC. I noticed that apple activation server is gs.apple.com. Pinging it from any source on my network just generates timeouts, and even tried to ping it from online pages that provide ping service (ping.eu), but it generates timeouts too.Non modified iPhone 4S - black
