I just ordered iPhone 4 SIM Free and I am trying to understand this activation procedure I hear repeatedly mentioned. What is iPhone activation?
Is it required for SIM Free iPhones? How does it affect the iPhone for procedure to get hooked up on to the interweb?
I have noticed that most of the Music belong to Pakistan in the Nokia Music Store is under the category of Boolywood/India. I would request to take actions in order to fix all PAKISTANI media content ASAP. Choose correct genre, country and any other information. Bollywood is not an acceptable Genre for Pakistani music. This is NOT fair and does not suit NOKIA to do this kind of unfair acts.

The app, which looks very similar to the stock Lollipop app, has the option of displaying a customized view. In it, you can check off what you want to display. For example, you can show contacts from Google Plus, Facebook, Waze, etc. I uncheck everything and only have My Contacts (which is a type of group in Google Contacts), and Starred in Android.
What actually gets displayed is seemingly every contact I have, or anyone that's ever emailed me.
I have a Nexus 5 also logged into the same Gmail account and it's Contacts display is perfect.
I have a Lumia 710 and have run into a problem with the latest version of Nokia Music. I am from the US, but am working overseas in Russia. My Phone language settings are set to English US, but with the recent Music App update, the program itself displays English, but all the Mixes are showing in Russian. This wasn't the case with earlier versions. Please make sure the app does not override the language setting with location based language information for those of us working/living in different countries.

My mom gave me her iPhone 4 to use as a touch after she deactivated her sim. I did a clean restore because there was an issue with the battery life. I cannot send SMS so is there any legit way to activate Facetime?
Also will the 4.1 patch change the process of activating Facetime for iphone?
So since the iPhone 4 will have a Micro SIM, how will I get my info and stuff off of my current SIM card and put it onto the Micro SIM? I am most likely going to order and have the iPhone 4 shipped to my Apple Store so I can pick it up first thing in the morning. Will the Apple Store be able to transfer the cards, or will I have to go to the ATT store later and have them do it? Also, think ATT would charge me anything for doing it? Thanks Guys.

The three of us would all be getting the 16GB, so about $600 for the phones, and then an activation fee (another $100 added to that). Seems like a lot, especially since I noticed that the Online Store would allow us to go without the Activation Fee about two weeks ago...
Also, how would we go about doing this? With the new restriction of only one iPhone per customer, and only one per household, how are we to do this? If all three of us went together, would we be able to get all three iPhones? Would going to an Apple Store help? And if so, is there a way to waive the Activation Fee there? If this can be done without physically going to the store, please let me know. (Older folks don't want to get up and wait just for a phone, but they don't get us Apple folk .)
I thought I would share my experience of trying to get my activation fee waived.Well it took me 3 calls to ATT but I finally got my fee waived as a one time courtesy. My first two calls ended in failure. I was polite yet stern with both reps and told them I think its absurd to charge $36 activation fee on a phone that I activated myself and that I think paying $2000 over two year contract is worthy for them to waive this bogus $36 charge. Both reps talked to supervisors but told me there was no way they could remove the fee because it is a legitimate charge due to a deal they have with apple. They said if it was any other phone but the Iphone they could do it.
At this point i didnt think it was possible to get it waived but I decided to call one more time and try. This time a guy picked up and I asked him if there was anyway they could waive the activation fee. He didnt need to speak to any supervisor and just straight up told me that he understands my complaint and will remove the fee as a one time courtesy. It was so simple and yet it saved me $42 on my first bill. HUGE!So if anyone is having problems trying to get there activation fee waived I suggest to keep calling back until you get a decent rep. SO yeah be persistent and it could save you some money.

today i was trying to update my iPhone 4S from iOS 5.0to 5.1.1. No problems restoring it, but when i try to activate it,the process fails every time. It seems that Apple Activation servers are down?Im a computer enthusiast and have already checked my home network for issues that can block access to apple servers, also checked from another network and machines, but still no luck. Tried to activate using WiFi on my iPhone, 3G network, and even Connect to iTunes on my PC. I noticed that apple activation server is gs.apple.com. Pinging it from any source on my network just generates timeouts, and even tried to ping it from online pages that provide ping service (ping.eu), but it generates timeouts too.Non modified iPhone 4S - black

I've purchased a Softbank Japanese iPhone 3GS 16GB off eBay and I thought it was unlocked by when I just re-read the message from the seller I received it said not unlocked.I read what I wanted to read though and read unlocked.So.I was just wondering, is there any possibility that I'll be able to get my iPhone working in Australia under Vodafone? I still show "no service" and the business activations line tells me my business is important to them and then it hangs up on me. My old SIM died immediately, so in the mean time I am without cellular service.

But when I try to activate, it says "Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. Try connecting your iPhone to iTunes to activate it, or try again in a few minutes. If this problem persists, contact Apple Support. Needless to say, connecting to iTunes doesn't work - "The software on the iPhone has expired and must be updated to a newer version".

I recently tried to jailbreak my iPhone 3GS baseband 5.16.05 with iPad baseband 6.15.00 using sn0wbreeze ISPW, I did a shift+restore on iTunes and the iPhone got stuck on a restoring screen (with the little bar.) I did a force reset and then the iPhone went into recovery mode I restored with iTunes (and no other software) but after I was done restoring it wouldn't activate because it said the Activation Server was busy. It's been "busy" all day and prior to the unlock I was able to activate and use the non-cellular features of the phone with my friend's old expired AT&T sim card (it would say "No Service" at the top),but now neither that, the Tmobile SIM I want to use or no sim is recognized. I tried DFU mode and it doesn't work either. Have I officially broken the phone? Is there a way that I can use my favorite phone with safari and the camera and everything else again and hopefully on TMOBILE prepaid?
