IPhone :: 4S (iOS 5.1) Saying Activation Required But Does Not Activate
Mar 15, 2012
My iPhone 4s, which I've been using for 3+ months, today displayed "activation required". But when I try to activate, it says "Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. Try connecting your iPhone to iTunes to activate it, or try again in a few minutes. If this problem persists, contact Apple Support. Needless to say, connecting to iTunes doesn't work - "The software on the iPhone has expired and must be updated to a newer version".
my iPhone has started to lose signal then when you reboot it it comes up with the message activation required. When I unlock the phone it tells me to connect to iTunes. When I do this I have to restore the phone and restart it using my back up, but it keeps happening.
My iPhone 5c goes into Activation Required mode about 5-10 times per day and always overnight. Therefore my alarms do not work, can't receive texts or calls. I have to be in wifi to be able to re activate the phone. Once in wifi it takes me to the Apple ID log in page. Once I put in the info it takes me right back to the home screen as normal.
My iphone 3gs (ios5.1) loses signal every so often and when I turn the phone off and back on again it says activation required. I have to turn it off and on up to 15 times to get signal back and to lose the activation required message.
A few days ago I got an email from someone who looked familiar to my contacts so I opened it but soon realized it was spam with a weird link, and quickly deleted it without clicking the link. My phone started acting funny so I turned it off and back on and it told me "Activation Required", so I did and all of my setting preferences were lost, like my ringtone and read receipts and all the little things that annoy me. (I've had this phone for over a year) Then I opened Instagram and it had kicked me out so I immediately changed my password. All of my other social media was fine and let me in. I set all of my preferences again but it keeps asking me if I want read receipts like every time I message. Also every single time I turn my phone on it requires activation. If it was spam, what do I do to clear it without losing absolutely everything? And is there a way for me not to activate every time I turn it on?
I know that purchasing an iPhone at the subsidized prices will result in the extension of one's contract but how exactly would they see to it that this is done w/o forcing you to activate in-store?I ask because I'm leaving for Argentina soon and want to get the iPhone 4 at the $200 price point before I leave (phones in Argentina cost millions of dollars ). I plan on jailbreaking and unlocking it whenever the relevant software comes out (along with doing the whole cutting the SIM thing) but in the meanwhile, would I be able to continue using my current iPhone (first gen) on the line that I am upgrading? To lay it out, there are two lines on the account. Both due for an upgrade. Mom will upgrade her line to new iPhone and will activate and use as normal. I upgrade my line to new iPhone but don't activate and instead use current iPhone on that line until I leave and then give it to a sibling to take over the number (I don't think I have a choice but to give up my number). 1st gen phone doesn't have 3g so I have $20 unlimited plan. Agent already told me that an upgrade to the new iPhone will cause me to move over to one of the new data plans but I'm still unclear as to when I would have to choose the plan. At home via iTunes or what? Do they end up charging you the full amount of the phone if they find that you haven't upgraded your plan to one of the new ones (and indication that you aren't using the new iPhone yet)?I was already told that in the event that I lose my iPhone 4 or it gets broken, or whatever, I can simply use another phone with an ATT SIM (or swap the micro-SIM and use an adapter), give the IMEI number and they'll register the phone and change the plan accordingly.
Could i continue to use the old iPhone w/ that line? I'm assuming that I could while waiting for the phone to arrive so why not after it gets here? I basically don't plan on touching the new iPhone until I get to Argentina but will still obviously be fine with extending the contract for another 2 years (is that all they care about?) since the number will be used by someone.
My 3gs will now only turn on if it is plugged into the wall charger. When it finally turns on, it gives me the "Requires Activation" message then a screen comes up that says plug phone into itunes. Plugged into my Mac Computer, and doesnt even recognize it. Also immediately after taking phone off wall charger, it shuts off.
I have registered working unlocked Storm 2 9550 with OS 5.0.0320 located in Costa Rica and questions I have:
1) On top of the clock it says Activation Required - can get get rid of it? How? (it's a bit annoying)
2) Where are the contact stored? Is it in unit memory or SIM card? Do I have option to choose? a) If on the phone, can I transfer to SIM card? b) If on the SIM card, can I transfer to phone?
Does anyone know how to get rid of the activation required at the top of the main menu screen? I am using a rogers sim card, the phone works and all. Its just the activation required I wanna get rid of.
When I selected "Mobile Hotspot" in Manage Connections, it allowed me to set up a password. When I now select if, a tick appears in the box and other devices can 'see' my WPA protected Hotspot, but I get a message showing on the screen saying: "Activation Required. Click Continue to subscribe to a Mobile Hotspot data plan using the browser on your smartphone or on a connected Wi-Fi device". The only option is "OK" (not Continue). If I select OK, then I go back to the Manage Connections screen, with no tick in the Mobile Hotspot box. I am on an Orange UK voice and data plan (orange internet APN).
I've traded iPhones with somebody I was with sprint and I wanted an gold iPhone 5s so that's what we traded for and I put my son card in the phone and tried to activate it multiple times and it won't activate I also called my carrier to activate it and they said the IMEI number is wrong I can't get past the *HELLO* process it takes too long to activate...
Opened email on a Iphone 4G and now phone is not recognized on Itunes and says at first, "activation required" but now it just says connect to Itunes but Itunes does not recognize and it cannot be restored.
I've had it for over 2 years. It's a 3GS. Today around 6 o'clock it just all of a sudden said "No Service". So I turned it off and then back on. Now it wont do anything but come up "Activation required" and then a black screen with the Apple logo. I even plugged it in to iTunes and it doesn't do anything. It wants me to Restore but I don't want to loose all my stuff.
I just updated my iPhone 4 and my iPad 2 as well as my wife's iPhone 4 to IOS5.1. No problems with the update process but we cannot activate iMessage. It just says "Waiting for activation ..."
I read on the front page how others were having the proximity issue like I was and that if you did a reset of settings then it could fox it. So I went ahead and did that. I went in and started changing all my settings back and I realized that the only option I had for my passcode was to require it immediately and not after 5 min like I usually do. I've done some searching and saw that a google or exchange account could cause this. But I only have mobile me.So that can't be it. The only other option I've seen is to do a complete restore.Whig I'd really like to stay away from. Does anyone have any ideas?
I just chatted with a premier rep. about my concern that I being 18 with no credits would not qualify to get an iphone 4, so can I buy the phone under my moms name and then get my discount added?. To this, he said no that the line has to be under my name inorder to get the discount. But the good news that he gave me is this----"You would qualify for an iphone 4 with no credits as you would be buying it from premier store using your college email and with premier discount".So what do you guys think about this, was the rep right or was he just running away from the situation.
Why am I getting a pop up that says Security info required? I just enetered my password and it asks for it again, then wants security questions filled in?
I have read through all the forums, be it in Apple Communities or elsewhere, tried all means (uninstall and re-install, delete the Common files folder, etc...etc...etc) but I still cannot resolve this problem:
I am currently using ITunes 11.2.2Â 64-bit versionÂ
How to connect the iphone 5 on my pc i get this message: "You can use this iPhone because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes and then reinstall iTunes." I have done several times but the problem is not solved, searching on the forum i see that maybe the official version 64 bits, but does not accept me at my computer installation.
When you either sync you iphone or just connect it to itunes? In other words, if you plug in your iphone and there is an update possible, itunes forces your iphone to update. Can they legally do that and if so, would they ever do that?
