After upgrading to the latest ios (from 4.3.3), when I hit sync in itunes, it says "waiting for sync to start," "preparing to sync" and "waiting for changes to be applied," while not actually syncing music or apps. It does sync photos, though, for some reason. I tried rebooting the computer, using a different wire, and using a different usb port.

After jailbreaking and getting my phone exactly the way I want it, I've decided I don't want to have to use iTunes to manage my music and Apps. I just reformatted my PC, and now iTunes wants me to totally wipe my iPhone and start over - this is unacceptable.
So I would like to manage my music outside of iTunes, but prefereably still using the iPod app as opposed to a third party one. I did a quick search and found nothing on the forums. Googling has led me to a few ideas, but they all seem dated. I am not familiar enough with SSH to figure this one out by myself.
Apps may be trickier, but there are a number of apps I have downloaded through Cydia, etc. that I would need to re-download if I wiped my phone.
Any tips or advice would be great here. Each successful thread I post takes me one step closer to leaving Big Brother out of my smartphone experience!
My new iPhone 4S (iOS 5.0.1) won't sync apps or music from iTunes in my win7 operating system unless if they downloaded from i tunes store, and the sync does't work if the source of apps is a CD or DVDs!

I just got a replacement iphone and restored it from a backup, however, upon trying to sync it again, the 'sync apps' checkbox is not checked. I can see my apps that are greyed out but as soon as I check the box to sync the apps, they all disappear! I haven't synced it since for fear of having to start over every time.

I would like to have all of my phone apps in one place (home computer), When I switched from laptop to desktop the phone apps in itunes didn't migrate to the new computer. I try to sync the phone to the desktop all of the old apps that are on the laptop are deleted and vice versa.

I can't seem to get App Sync 3.1 to sync the apps I've gotten from Cydia. I've tried reinstalling it, deleting it and then downloading a fresh copy of it, but no luck either way. And yes, I DID restart after both scenarios. I'm running 3.13 on a 3GS.

I just bought a Nokia 5530 Xpress Music and tried out syncing my phone's files using Ovi Suite so I can easily retrieve them if ever they get deleted when I update my phone's firmware. When I synced my files, everything else worked fine except for the music files and these are the following problems I encountered: Ovi Suite did not only copy my phone's music files to my pc, it also copied all the music files of my pc to my phone at the same time. This shouldn't happen right? Because I'm only trying to sync my phone's files to my computer, and not transfer files from my computer to my phone so it should only copy all the songs in my 5530 to Ovi Suite.

Google Music keeps crashing as soon as I start navigation in Google Maps. I tried Amazon Prime Music too - same issue. I wanted to put music on my phone so i went out and bought a micro sd card and tried to load music onto it using a usb to connect to my phone. I've tried literally just about everything. I switched over to USB Mass Storage mode and created a music folder and etc, etc,. But even after i put a couple of songs on the thing my phone still says there's nothing there. I also tried doing the Nokia Ovi Suite thing and apparently my phone model isn't compatible with it. I'm completely surprised by the lack of support from the manufacturing website.

When updating my music the other night, i believe i had my phone synced with iCloud, and all of the music downloaded prior to that is not available on my phone, with the exception of a few Christmas songs, which are useless right now. The songs I have downloaded since appear on my phone, but I cannot figure out how to add the previous songs to the phone. I made an apple ID months ago, and was wondering if having two separate ID's has something to do with it. I do not think that is the case.

My iPhone 4s has the most recent iOS update. When select my iPhone under devices and run a sync, the sync goes to step 5, but then stops without syncing any music to the phone even though there are songs selected in iTunes. Now there isn't any music on my phone. I did change my Apple ID, but I've done that before without problems so I'm not sure if that is the cause. I have also authorized my Mac.

I updated to version 3.0.0.284, and there is no option to sync music! Is this intentional?
Also, Ovi doen't delete my music on my Nokia N8 phone (I thought maybe that will enable sync option again?) I press delete it opens up the thing where it says it is deleting and then when I refresh all my music just comes back!
I just had to reinstall OS X on my mac and I did a sync of my iPhone. When it tried to sync the apps, it said some apps could not be transferred because I was not authorized to play them.
