After that, I tried to sync my iphone contacts so my address book will have my contacts but instead of having contacts from my iphone, my iphone contacts were all erased and over-written to the no-contacts from the MacBook address book.
I have seen several threads on recovery via itunes backup but unfortunately, I do not have any backups due to the crashed hdd.
I haved reset network setting, all of contacts erased, can I recover the lost contacts?

I deleted my icloud account on my iphone and in doing so was asked if I wanted to delete the contact and calendars. I thought they were talking about the icloud account. But what I did not realize was they were talking about ALL contacts. I checked my desktop and all contact are deleted. I have updated my Nokia N8 to Nokia Belle with Nokia Updater for Mac but I cannot find contacts, sms and notes. All disappeared and unfortunately I don't have a backup. It is urgent and important. At the end of the update it was asking me if I wanted to import contacts from another Nokia phone, but as it wasn't the case, I bypassed that option. Surely I did something wrong but I really do hope that contacts, notes and sms are saved somewhere on my Mac.

The first time it happened I thought maybe I exited without pressing done, thinking maybe that saves it. But it's happened to me several times. I write a note, press done, exit out of the program. Open up the program and the note is still there, but after a day or 2 it's just completely gone. I'm not even syncing it or anything. This is on a ip4 with 4.02 and no JB.

When it came back on again I saw an Apple logo with a progress bar. I thought... okay, my iPhone crashed and now it's starting back up.
