IPhone :: Bluetooth Audio Source Selection Button Has Disappeared
May 16, 2012My iPhone 4S (iOS 5.1.1) no longer displays the audio source selections after successfully connecting via Bluetooth in my car. It appears that the Sources button has been replaced by a FaceTime button that I have not activated. Any suggestions for correcting this so I can talk hands free?

This problem started recently. My bluetooth headset connects, and can trigger the call to be answered, but the iPhone doesn't use it as the audio source. In fact, the button that normally selects the sources, now shows only the speaker icon (and toggles speakerphone).
After updating to 5.1, it seemed to be fixed -- that same button again let me choose the audio source. That was yesterday, but today when I answered a call, it didn't go to the headset, and the source button again shows only the speaker icon.
The iPhone answers the call when I press the button on the headset. It's just not seeing any audio source.
I've powered on & off, not fixing the problem. I can't poinpoint the start of the trouble exactly -- it seemed to simply work one day and not work the next. I honestly don't remember if it coincided with updating to 5.01.

May 19, 2012After upgrading to 5.1.1 - my handsfree kit connects with iPhone still fine, but it has become impossible to hear any calls through it?! Whereas, I used to have an option to "choose audio output" (iPhone, speaker, or handsfree device), there is now only the standard built-in speaker option - as though no Bluetooth were connected. The handsfree device (Blueant S4) is connected and contacts synced, and still allows me to make calls - and yet, the audio of the phone calls can only be from the iPhone itself.

Under settings there was an opportunity to select whether you want the voice recognition just from within Google or "from any screen". I opted for "from any screen"had the "from any screen". Today no matter what I do it is just not available - the ONLY option shown is from within Google. The 'voice training' is gone, option for any screen is gone and I cannot get it back no matter what I tried.
I have tried it with TouchWiz, Nova launcher and Google Now launcher - same problem. I have tried English (US) English (Canada) and English (UK) as default language all to no avail.
Yesterday when it was "working" I definitely saw that the function was sporadic, sometimes worked, sometimes not. But now I can't even select that option.
