Sep 2, 2014Phone, FaceTime and Find My Friends in iOS show full names of your contacts. I cannot find a setting to show nicknames instead. You can show nicknames instead of full names in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Short Name > Prefer Nicknames only for Messages, but not for Phone, FaceTime and Find My Friends. I know editing the contacts would do the job. But it would be very dodgy as nobody's first or last name is 'Mum', 'Uncle Bob' or 'Shaggy'. Is there a way to show nicknames instead of full names in Phone, FaceTime and Find My Friends?

IPhone 5s Keeps Changing Contact Names
Sep 10, 2014I've had my phone for about 5 months now and everything's been fine. But a couple weeks ago, I tried to change some of my contacts' names by adding emojis or changing their full names to nicknames I like to call them. About 30 seconds after changing one of them, I saw it change back to what it originally was as soon as I opened my messages, so I went back to my contacts list and saw that all of the ones I had changed went back to what they were before.Â
The problem now has gotten worse, seeing as whenever I try to change someone's contact name or add a new contact and put some emojis to their name, a minute later the emojis will be completely cleared out of the name or if it was an old contact, it will change to something totally random(the emojis could just change to some different emojis, or the name will change back to what it was before, or if I had 3 emojis the last 2 will be deleted etc.). This is also extremely annoying because when it randomly decides to change back to what it was before, things like their contact picture will just randomly change to an old one or just clear out overall. It's also really weird cuz when I pull down to "iPhone search" on my home screen and try to look my contacts up, some of their names will appear as what I tried to change it to but then in my contact list be completely different.Â
I've tried everything from restarting my phone to deleting the contacts and recreating them (still takes off the emojis or some other weird stuff) It's just really annoying cuz I have some contacts with the same names & need to be able to differentiate themp.

Apr 16, 2012I used to have an Iphone 4 32GB and I don't have issue on saving any contact info that I type in. Then after I upgraded to the new Iphone 4S-64gb and have my contacts transferred to my new iphone by the Apple salesperson. I am now unable to save any contact info to my new iphone 4S. I tried reformating my iphone and did a restore from my computer using Itune back to my iphone, and it let me save my new contact but after a while, it will not save any contact at all, even though I have plenty of available space on my iphone.I have called apple tech and was advised to have it replace from AT&T store, which I did, so I have the new replacement Iphone 4S -64GB. at first it seems to work fine but lately, it will not let me save any contact info whenever I tried doing it. it just won't save it no matter what I do? Ifor it is very annoying not to be able to save new contacts.

Apr 24, 2012As I was scrolling through my recent messages my iPhone 3GS suddenly removed all the contact names from the list of messages and replaced them with their corresponding phone numbers. All I was doing was scrolling through the message list... no settings were changed. After this happened I checked my contacts list, and everything appears to be intact there. However, my phone app also no longer shows the contact name, but just the phone number. Turning the device off then on did nothing. How could this happen as I'm using the device, without me changing any settings on the phone. It makes absolutely no sense at all!

Galaxy S5 :: Can Get It To Show File Names
Mar 31, 2015I've had my Galaxy S5 since a year ago in May. I do martial arts and a great learning aid is to have videos of my forms on my phone, and when I'm waiting somewhere, watch the videos. The problem I'm having, is that I use Airdroid to upload the videos from my PC to the S5 and put them in the Movies folder, which makes them available in Gallery on my phone. BUT the Gallery app ( is it an app? ) doesn't show file names. So I may have Kata 1,2,3,4 and 5, for example, but all I see are videos there, it doesn't show me which one is Kata 1, etc.Is there a setting that can fix this, or do I need some other kind of App for seeing my photos & videos, that WILL show file names?

Apr 10, 2010My texts are doing strange things for some reason. For example, when my daughter sends me a text it only comes up as her phone number, not her name. Also, I get a new text and it will not open unless I go and open the one before it, close it and then open the new one. Is this something only my Bold is doing? I did a search and did not come up with much. Any help would be great. It is not a huge deal and I have been dealing with it for some time but it is lame. Oh, it is not only my daughter who is also a Tmo customer but a friend on Sprint is also coming up as a number and not her name.

Aug 23, 2011after I updated my Nokia E6 to the recent software, it doesnt show the callers names when receiving a call and when receiving an sms. I have to save the same number twice, once with international prefix example +963 (thats for my home country) and once without. When receiving calls it show the name only if saved without the prefix (unless its an international call) and when receiving sms it shows the name only when its saved with the international prefix. I didnt have that problem before the update!
