I have two different contacts on my phone. These are Lesley and Lesley India. When I ask Siri to call Lesley I am asked which one I want to call being given the options of Lesley or Lesley India. If I state just Lesley then Siri asks me the same question i.e. Lesley or Lesley India. My old iPhone 3GS could work this out fine but Siri can't!

My name is Brian (with an i), and Siri knows this if I ask her what my name is. However if I am having her write an email or text message for me and I say something like "from Brian" she spells my name "Bryan." On rare occasion she will spell it correctly with an "i," which I can only surmise is due to some subtle difference in pronounciation.
Is there any way I can change her dictionary and only allow her to spell "Brian" and not "Bryan"? This isn't the only name she does this with; whenever I have her write "Colin" in a message she wants to put two L's in it instead of one.

I have some friends with unusual names. When I tell Siri to call one of them siri consistently returns what it thinks the name is. So i took what Siri returns and added it as the phonetic name of the individual. Siri still returns the same name and still doesn't recognize the contact. Example: I say Damian, Siri thinks it's Damien so I add Damien as the phonetic name of Damian. After I did that I say Damian, Siri says it can't find Damien!!! ***!!!! What is the point of having phonetic spelling if that's the case.

I purchased the 4S solely for safety of using Siri while driving. The normal response is that it does not understand my request. Or I am cut off in mid sentence. "Call Beth Cell" is not a long request. Nor is "Call Karen Work". Yet, Siri can't respond. Windows are up, air conditioner is quiet, radio is off. I have tried using the Apple headphones that came with the phone, tried without. No difference.
Last week I spent the entire 45 minute drive home working with Siri to call my wife to let her know I was on my way home.
Siri is hellbent not to operate properly. And I wasted my $200 to go to 4S.
Btw, tilt back doesn't work sine latest up date 5.1.1. Where you bring the phone to your ear at home screen, so I must hold the button!

I have the impression that perhaps everyone has their very own, personal iPhone. But in our case, my wife and I share one (so far) that we just received. Reading up on Siri, I gather I (John) am suppose to introduce myself to Siri, tell Siri my wife's name, and get Siri to recognize my voice. But can my wife tell this same Siri who her husband is? Will Siri learn to recognize her voice? Or will all this overwhelm Siri?

Every time I change a name in my contacts, it goes back to the name it was before and then if I have an emoji at the end, it deletes it. What can I do to stop this from happening?

I've had my phone for about 5 months now and everything's been fine. But a couple weeks ago, I tried to change some of my contacts' names by adding emojis or changing their full names to nicknames I like to call them. About 30 seconds after changing one of them, I saw it change back to what it originally was as soon as I opened my messages, so I went back to my contacts list and saw that all of the ones I had changed went back to what they were before.Â
The problem now has gotten worse, seeing as whenever I try to change someone's contact name or add a new contact and put some emojis to their name, a minute later the emojis will be completely cleared out of the name or if it was an old contact, it will change to something totally random(the emojis could just change to some different emojis, or the name will change back to what it was before, or if I had 3 emojis the last 2 will be deleted etc.). This is also extremely annoying because when it randomly decides to change back to what it was before, things like their contact picture will just randomly change to an old one or just clear out overall. It's also really weird cuz when I pull down to "iPhone search" on my home screen and try to look my contacts up, some of their names will appear as what I tried to change it to but then in my contact list be completely different.Â
I've tried everything from restarting my phone to deleting the contacts and recreating them (still takes off the emojis or some other weird stuff) It's just really annoying cuz I have some contacts with the same names & need to be able to differentiate themp.

I used to have an Iphone 4 32GB and I don't have issue on saving any contact info that I type in. Then after I upgraded to the new Iphone 4S-64gb and have my contacts transferred to my new iphone by the Apple salesperson. I am now unable to save any contact info to my new iphone 4S. I tried reformating my iphone and did a restore from my computer using Itune back to my iphone, and it let me save my new contact but after a while, it will not save any contact at all, even though I have plenty of available space on my iphone.I have called apple tech and was advised to have it replace from AT&T store, which I did, so I have the new replacement Iphone 4S -64GB. at first it seems to work fine but lately, it will not let me save any contact info whenever I tried doing it. it just won't save it no matter what I do? All I was doing was scrolling through the message list... no settings were changed. After this happened I checked my contacts list, and everything appears to be intact there. However, my phone app also no longer shows the contact name, but just the phone number. Turning the device off then on did nothing. How could this happen as I'm using the device, without me changing any settings on the phone. It makes absolutely no sense at all!

I drive a BMW with iDrive. This supports the iPhone over Bluetooth which is a great feature. However I can only make phone calls from my cars controls. With the advent of Siri, I was really hoping to be able to take advantage of "her" other features over Bluetooth.
Problem: I cannot initiate Siri from my cars phone controls. I have to physically have my iPhone in hand to initialize Siri.
E.g. I have my iPhone in my pocket and I feel the buzz that I got a text. I have to struggle to get my phone out of my pocket and read the text while I am driving, which is not exactly safe or intuitive.
Solution: the ability to add Siri as a contact. All I would need to do is bring up my contacts and "call" Siri. I would then say my command, "read my texts" and I would hear the last message over my cars speakers. The same would apply to creating texts, asking for the nearest gas station, calling people through Siri (who's voice recognition is better than BMW's).

The situation is this - when I ask Siri to call my wife it says it replies - which wife; first name last name OR first name middle name last name?
