WiFi antenna location on iPad2 and iPhone4? Somebody says the iPad antenna has more gain than the iPhone one but according to my checks when holding the devices it is not true.
How good is the wifi antenna on the Eris? Comparable to a decent laptop?I've never had a phone with wifi before but I would want a phone that can get reception where my laptop does. Sometimes I use these devices pretty far from the AP with low signal strength.
The wifi antenna regularly turning itself on to check for signal is a cool feature, but it opens over running applications causing the background application to freeze (most notable with my flashlight app) or run without me and not accept any input (many games). Set this to only request to connect to a network if no other apps are running.
I'm not exactly sure if I'm correct, but on my iPad, the wifi doesn't disconnect after you put it in standby, but the iPhone and iPod touch does. Any cydia apps that will accomplish this?
Anyone figured out a way to do this yet? I was thinking about MiWi but rock app last time screwed up my iPhone pretty badly. Is there a way to obtain this through cydia?
if my iphone is near the computer that i use to sync it, i do not have to use a cable, it appears to wifi sync ??This, however does not seem to be true of an ipad near that computer. Does that ring true? Info: MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.7)
At home (on Comcast) in N. California when on Wifi if I ask Siri if I need an umbrella today, it told me that it doesn't look like rain in Los Angeles. When I turn off Wifi, it answers appropriately based on my location. So is the WiFI messing with Siri's head?
This weekend I updated my iPhone 4 (AT&T) and iPad 2 (Verizon 3G, wifi) to 5.1. Since the update (went flawlessly), I have been unable to connect to wifi networks anywhere. All that I get is the continuously running circle that shows it is trying to connect (but never actually does). I have RESET all Network connections numerous times, did the 'Forget this' connection on everything, etc. They will no longer connect to places that I have always connected to (Home network, CLE Airport, Hilton, Work, etc...). I can connect to all networks fine with my laptop and blackberry, but I just get the constant connection circle with my iPhone and iPad 2. I have tried:
1. Reboot (Soft)
2. Reboot (Hard (Home and Power button)
3. Forget WiFi connection
4. Reset Network Connections
5. Tried 6 different Wireless (wifi) networks that I have always been able to connect to with no luck.
Has anyone's iPhone 4S and iPad 2 experience the same problem after the iOS 5.1 update? When the device is left (screen) on, not on standby mode.
Both my iOS devices seem not able to lock on to my home wifi network (AirPorts), after a while they would drop out and on screen shows the 3G icon, I did not have this problem prior to 5.1 update.
Yes I have tried: Forget Network - and re-log in againReset all Network settingsTurn device on and offShut down and turn on home AirPort network
I really do not know what else to do. But if I put the device to sleep, i.e. I always have my iPad 2 on standby, when I turn it on, the wifi would be there.

I never had the issue with the 2G/3G/3GS, but once I got an iPhone 4 at launch and then the 4S, the issue has always been the same. It doesn't matter which network I connect to. Websites load incredibly slowly, apps download slowly, and it's impossible to stream anything or install an iOS update via wi-fi.
I connect to the same networks on my iPad 2 (as well as multiple laptops, both PCs and Macs) and it's always very, very fast.
The funny part to me is that the router is an AirPort Extreme, though I have the same issues with both Cisco and Netgear routers (haven't had any others to try).
I can't connect to wifi with my iphone 5s or my ipad mini. It this related to the update? I can't update either without a wifi connection. My work bans iTunes, so even though I have a computer, I can't update that way, either. My husband has the 6 (which is fully updated with the new ios) and has no problems with the same wifi signal.
Im using Xperia Z2, and this week I've update it into official Android Lollipop 5.0.2 through PC Companion. However, after the update installed, i seen a horrible WiFi problem: It's "always on". Even after I turn off scanning always available option on Advance Setting, the WiFi still on, as seen from the Battery Usage. This problem makes my Z2's keep awake and taking a huge battery loss.
I have been reading reviews that the iPad camera connection kit no longer works with the latest iPads, does anyone know if this is still the case or has the issue been addressed/fixed?
So I have a Lollipop updated D6633. From what I understand Sony got rid of the Location based wifi support with the new Lollipop release. However I keep on getting an error message every so often as attached, showing that location based wifi has stopped. I also attach what I think is a logcat.
I have this weared problem in my z2. My location gets turned on automatically & it's costing me mobile data charges even if I'm using Wi-Fi only... Mobile data is turned off. I see this money deduction msg after every few mins .
I love Smart Actions, when set-up correctly, it truly makes my smartphone, a smart phone. I do have a question though. Why is it that WiFi MUST be enabled to use location services, and is there anyway to use location services to turn off WiFi when I'm not in range of a usable network? I have WiFi at work and home, but when I'm not at work or home (driving for example) my phone is constantly searching for wifi. Considering that I'm on the road a lot and I go to school at night, that's a lot of time that my phone is both on 4G and Wifi, which almost defeats the purpose of a battery-saving app.
I love the idea of smart actions, but I constantly seem to have issues. I always have problems here and there with smart actions on the GB software, but I recently upgraded to ICS and I was hoping it would be improved. I see there is now an option to allow the phone to detect its location without needing wifi which is nice, but I still cant get it to work.
I have a "Work" smart action set up, but even right at this very moment I am at home and it thinks I am at work. I am even connected to my home wifi on the phone, still thinks I am at work. So I manually shut off the work smart action, and then re-enabled it. A second later it pops up that I am at work again. I open up the "Map" App and it shows me at home, why in the world would it think I am still at work.
I use to keep the WiFi Scanning for location services on before Lollipop. Since Lollipop, if it is on, WiFi is ALWAYS scanning killing my battery within the hour. So I turned it off hoping that the Marshmallow update(s) would fix this. I'm on 6.0.1 and the issue is still here. It's kind of annoying turning on WiFi just for my GPS to lock on accurately. If so what fixed your phone.? I've done cache clearing, in the phone menu itself and through recovery to no avail.
This is somewhat counterproductive if a person wants to set smartactions based on location, unless we want to leave Wifi permanently enabled. Is there a workaround? I have several location-based smartactions set up, but they fail if I dont leave wifi on, which I don't want to do.
Why do we have to constantly keep our Wifi connection on thoughout the day for Locational Smart actions to work properly? Why cant we have Location in Trigger and Wifi(on) in Actions since its also using our GPS location to location us and Wifi for more accurate location?
I have SmartActions set up to trigger when my location is home to turn on WiFi and turn off data. Similarly, I have a trigger when I connect to my Bluetooth in the car to turn off WiFi and turn on data.
The problem is when I am leaving the house but not going to the car. Is there a way I can determine that I am leaving my house or disconnected from my home Wifi so that I can turn WiFi off and data on?
