IPhone :: Why Is My 4 Imessage Being Copied To Another Phone On My Account
Mar 13, 2012
My wife and I are on the same AT&T account.† After she updated her phone her text messages are being coppied to my phone.† One other thing, in the imessage settings her phone number says "error" on it.† Whats going on?
My friend just bought E51.He used to own 6300 with memory card.He took his old phone and the new one to the service center in order that they transfer all the data (especially phones and addresses) from old to new† phone.Service men claim they did that and E51 says it received 930 contacts as it should, but when he tries to find some of the contacts he knows he had it is not possible. On the other hand some contacts that he cannot find in address book appear as identified by name when they call him.How can this be?
i've got 2 Phones, 1 company and 1 private phone - means 2 different Numbers. I've now merged the private phone number now into the company Sim Card, so I've got only 1 phone now instead of 2. The main number is now the company number, but i wanna keep my OLD private number with iMessage, etc.
I updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 5.1 when it was released. My friend updated his iPhone 4S delayed, yesterday. Before yesterday iMessage worked well between our iPhones. But since my friend updated to iOS 5.1 as well, iMessage does not work anymore between our two iPhones.iMessage works well with all other adresses we both use as well. But only our two iPhones cannot use iMessage anymore.†
On last month I changed my iphone 4 to 4S, after the change I noticed that I can't receive imessages using my phone number, only my apple id was there at "Receive at" field. What should I do to solve this? How can I put my phone number back there? This is happening with Facetime too. But on Facetime the phone number has a "Verifying" status.
Proud user of apple devices for around 5 years, last week my iPhone 5s was not able to deliver an iMessage to an iPhone 5c, so it went as regular SMS text; and when I got a reply, it arrived from the iCloud id.  Then, the exact same thing happened on Saturday with another friend using an iPhone 4 (no 4s).
Researching on internet, I read something that people have problem to activate the iMessage from their number and it appears grayed out in the settings, so they cannot select it.... I am able to send iMessages to other iPhones, but I still looked in my settings and my number is grayed out and I CANNOT deselect it (the opposite of what I read), so I still went through the solution proposed where I reset the network settings on my iPhone to factory.  I not only lost all the passwords to the WiFi I had, but it didn't solve the issue.
I can not send iMessages to two contacts using their numbers. Additionally, the message history now is split in two in my device -which doesn't make sense as the number and iCloud id belong to the same person; doesn't it make sense that the history merge onto one contact name?  It sure displays the name, not the id (phone number or iCloud address).
I assume this is a big flaw of iOS 8.1.1 as iMessages never failed this way for me, or at least that a good reset of the phone wouldn't fix.  I found extremely ridiculous that now Apple says the solution is to jump through hoops and loops for a temporal solution. I still think Apple systems are more stable and reliable than the others; but I don't want to see the company start to conform with 'good for now' or 'good enough' operating systems.
PS My friend's iPhone 5s have problems to maintain wireless connections to play music in his own house, while the Apple computer works without issue.
Apple... are we going to get an new iOS for our phones to fix iMessages across devices?
I registered the iMessage once with my old number on different country and now i came back to my own country and wanted to change my number but its unable for me to change it ! i can only change my Email addresses ! Is there any way to change it without reseting my network setting !?
After upgrading to iOS 5.1 , my imessage have stopped showing my phone number and shows my email address instead. It is NOT verifying my phone number. Does anyone know how can I get the iphone to show my phone number?
When I send iMessages, it just appears from my email address, not from my phone number. When, I go to settings > messages, I can only "Receive At" xxxx @ email .com as well, there is no option to add a phone number.†How can I make myself available to be "reached for messages" at my phone number instead of (or, in addition to) my e-mail? I also have an iPad.†iPhone is running 5.1.
When I receive a text message from a friend A, I cannot see, which device this friend texted me from. When I then hit reply, I dont know whether this message will be charged for (sending it to a mobile phone) or free (sending it to an apple ID). This is especially an issue with international texts. Is it possible to have the device shown below the name,† they same way it works in "Recent" tab for phone calls? There I can see, whether the person called from their mobile phone, their home phone, via face time.I know, I could just start a new message and pick the receipient manually, or create two separate contacts with a hint in the first name field (e.g. "Apple ID)† but that is not as convenient as to just reply to an exiting message.
I talk to someone who sends me imessages to my phone number from their phone, and also from their ipad to my email. Both phone number and email are under the same contact. But the mesages go into 2 different threads. Id like to combine them since being under the same contact they show up exactly the same in the messages list.. so i cant tell if im messaging the ipad or the phone.. †
ideally id like to write a message to that contact and it would go to both their ipad and iphone.
My wife and I both have iPhones and using iOS 5.1.1†We text routinely throughout the day.† I randomly recieve her texts in two different threads, when I go to the top of the thread and click "Contact>" one of them highlights her phone number as the source and the other highlights her email address as the source.† On her phone it all appears as a single thread with me, but when I send a text to her it I have to send it in both threads to make sure she gets it, she will only get one of them and I have no way of knowing which one she will get at any given time.† Does anyone know why it switched back and forth?† It isn't tied to WiFi vs 4g as far as we can tell, we both get the normal blue vs green to indicate SMS vs iMessage.†
In case that was confusing, here's an example.† If she sends me a text I always get it in one of the two threads, no issue.† If I respond to something she just texted me in the same thread, she gets it.† Again, no problem.† If I send her a text a few hours later in only one of the two threads, she may or may not receive it.† To make sure she gets it I send it in both, she only gets it once, and if she responds I know which one her phone is currently on.†
How do u change the registered phone number on iMessage on iPhone? It still shows old number even after a reset and the number is grayed out. I have waited for the change to happen (imessage off), but it still didn't change. I pulled the sim out and waited, but still no change. I am using an iphone 4s and OS 5.1.
I wonder if you guys are having the same problems? but my Imessage is unable to verify my numbers. i have already checked on my apple id and tried the solutions that was given by apple support communities and i still cant verify on my phone numbers. The problem start when i switch off my imessage and turn it on again. i need to send my imessage via phone numbers not emails.
