i have been using imessage for months now and then today it is sending from my email address rather than my mobile number. i have tried turning imessage off then back on, turning it off then turning my phone off and back on then switching it back on. anyone know how i can change it to send from my phone again?

I am currently on my second iPhone 4s after losing my first one. I have encountered a problem where my contacts which also have an iPhone, thus receiving iMessages are seeing my contact name as my email address. How do I change this in the settings? I have tried to manually change it but even if I switch to the number option there seems to be no change.

Whenever I send a text to someone on my iPhone, they say they receive it from my email, not my number. I looked at Messages in the settings and when it showed my number (above my email) it said verifying. I also looked at FaceTime in the settings and when it showed my number it said error. How do I make it so people receive my texts from my number?

I updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 5.1 when it was released. My friend updated his iPhone 4S delayed, yesterday. i have noticed that after switching to ios 5.1 my phone has been acting funny. for example: when i am messaging other iphone users with iMessage, it keeps switching from iMessage to regular text every 2 or 3 messages. at first i thought it was the other person since i am normally within my works wifi network and at my home wifi network, but it seems that this problem only occurs to other people when imessaging with me and not with anyone else. and this problem occurs to me while imessaging everyone, so i have come to the conclusion that the problem must be my phone. i have noticed this problem to occur since updating to ios 5.1. has anyone else experienced this problem? what can i do? i am 2 steps shy of reinstalling my phone.

I have just got my new iphone 4 today and when I try to send a message to my friend who also has an iphone she says although sent as an imessage it comes through as an email. When I go to receive at in settings it has my mobile no which is greyed out and it has my email address in bold so she suggested deleting my email from this but the option to delete is greyed out.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an 4 and an iPad. I recently moved to Germany and do not have cell service. A friend mentioned iMessage to me, and I immediately began using it. However, on my iPhone, when I try to message someone new; I can't. They have to eniciate the conversation with me. And now when I try to respond to some people I already have an iMessage with it changes from blue to green for SMS, which I obviously cannot do without service. My friend suggested turning iMessage off and then back on. Now it says waiting for activation. Why? My ipad works fine.

I've got an iPhone 4, and my iMessages are not working properly.
I've got a Belgian (Mobile vikings) subscription for my mobile internet. Since I've got this, i've been trying to receive my iMessages through my number. This does NOT work. I've tried to reset my text system of my provider, doesn't fix anything. I've resetted my iPhone, no result. And so on...
The weirdest thing is, I've installed my AppleID to receive the messages, and that works! So i can receive on my AppleID, but not my number...
When I try to reconnect, it keeps 'controlling'/'checking' for 15min and that he says it has failed...

I just decided to try iMessage today, after turning it on, entering my apple id, all set to go, but no, it doesnt work I can go into the create imessage where its blue not green and i type out the message. Then send. It says sending before failing when the bar reaches the end. The reciever does not recieve the message.(also dont u think it would be great having facetime on 3gs, and how do u create a personal hotspot on a 3gs?)
