I accidentally updated my iPhone 3gs to 5.1 when I have cydia now its locked and won't register no sim. I plugged it into itunes & tried to restore it but it wont restore past the 4th step.
View 3 RepliesI got this iphone used, it was already jailbroken to ois 4 and unlocked (I use T-M) but it was running slow so I downgraded to 3.1.2 and initially, everything was fine. I used cydia to unlock and used it for a few days. I was downloaded some theme in cydia and the file wasn't fully downloaded and cydia closed out and wouldn't open again. I read online that it had something to do with the update and the un-completed download. No big deal, I used iphonebrowser to delete the update files, still didn't open. Whatever, so I restored the whole phone and started from scratch and re-jailbroke it (with redsn0w 0.9.3), and tried to open cydia to unlock and it would look like it was opening and then take me back to springboard. I restored it again and re-jailbroke it with a different version of redsn0w and cydia still doesn't open. I read online to delete the "zottd" files but I looked through every file folder in the phone and I don't have any.

I have the 3Gs and jailbroke it the first day I got it. Just a few days ago my iphone locked up and I had to restore it. Since I was FORCED to update to the new OS 4, I can't JB it yet.
I was looking around the settings options and I noticed that it has th e "tethering" options on my phone just like when I had it JB. I did a search and I did not find anything about tethering on the new OS, just that it was promised by ATT a few months ago but they never did.So is there something special about m phone or do they normaly have this options available just you can't use it?
I'm locked out of my iPhone 4 but when I try to connect it to iTunes to unlock and restore it, iTunes is requiring me to enter my passcode on my phone, which the phone won't let me do because I'm locked out.

I recently had a repair done to my iphone. Afterword, I was told that I had to restore the os. I downloaded and installed the latest version (3.1.3) through itunes.
When it attempted to activate the phone I got an error message saying the phone either had no sim or the sim was locked and instructing me to disconnect the phone and unlock the sim.
My sim does have a pin, but the phone itself won't allow me to unlock it. It says 'restore needed' and directs me to itunes.
It seems like a catch 22 - can't activate without unlocking the pin, can't unlock the pin without activating. As it is, I can't use the phone at all.
Itunes is asking for a password to restore my iphone backup to my updated phone. What password is this and how do I locate it?

I have updated my nokia n97 a month ago to version 32.001. Before that I did not perform the upgrade for about a year.Since this last upgrade I have a problem with clock not being updated when the keyboard is locked. This only happens when the keyboard is locked automatically (because of the inactivity). If I lock it manually then the clock is normally updated.This is so frustrating that I will change the phone for sure if it's not solved very quickly with a new software update. The clock is one of the core features of the mobile phone and such a bug can get you in troubles very quickly.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just updated to iOS 5.1.1 on my 3GS phone, previously using 5.0, while plugged into the computer and iTunes 10.6.3. I had the phone set to backup to iCloud, and ran a sync operation before updating.Does that not also create a backup?When the restore process began, it asked if I wanted to set up as a new phone or restore from backup. However the list of available backups did not have anything from today.The last one listed was from October 2011.So I cancelled that operation, went through the new phone setup and then it asked if I wanted to restore from iCloud. So I chose the most recent iCloud backup which was from around 6 AM this morning. Now it is in the process of downloading all my apps, pics, and perhaps music as well. I don't know but it's going to take HOURS to finish this.
Anyway I opened some apps that have already downloaded, and some app data appears to be intact. But other apps have nothing after October 2011. And I'm talking apps that have tracked my fitness and workout progress over the past 6 months, bike rides in the past few months, car fuel fillup and maintenance history since October, I'm talking LOTS of data that appears to be gone.What did I do wrong here? Did I not do what I should have done regarding backups? What is the point of backing up to iCloud if it's not going to back up all my app data?

Whenever I try to activate backgrounder on cydia, it just goes straight to voice control with no backgrounder enabled notification. I have backgrounder to to auto detect (I have an iPhone 4 on 4.0.1). When I do an override and set it to run as if in foreground it doesn't do it. How can I make cydia background so I can close it and open again where I was, with going back to the homescreen and reload data and such?

View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I first jailbroke my phone, I went and added every source I could find. In doing so, I ended up with a bunch of junk that I needed to get rid of. Let me start by saying I DO NOT use cracked apps. I have never installed any and do not intend to. I added the Inst***ous repo and realized I didn't need it and deleted it. It wouldn't delete so I manually deleted it from the source list (/etc/apt/sources.list.d) using iFile. Now it's gone but I'm still getting these errors like it's still there. How can I completely get it off my phone?

Questions:
-will restoring this backup to the new unlocked phone restore it to its original locked state (i.e. will i have to re-jailbreak/unlock)? or will it simply restore preferences, etc...?
-otherwise, if i call this phone a new name, is there a way to transfer my purchased apps to the new phone's account?

I immediately noticed an app on the phone called Cydia. I had never seen a jail broken iPhone before but I have heard the name Cydia associated with JBing, but I assumed the cydia app on the display phone was something legit. I asked one of the geniuses if the phones were jailbroken because several of the phones had the cydia app on them. He scoffed and said of course they're not jail broken. Then another genius told me that they were indeed jail broken and proceeded to remove them all from the display.

And I have tried to go to the website and reinstall it but it won't work and automatically brings me back to my home screen.
