I just noticed that the back of my 3gs has 2 scratches at the back. Not hair line scratches, you can feel it with your fingernails and it's a bit deep. I don't know why did this happened as I am using a silcione case.

My iPhone 3G developed a crack in the plastic casing on the backside right at the bottom (by the connector at the bottom). I've heard that this is a design fault and happens to a lot of iPhones, and that (if it's within warranty!) going into an Apple store and complaining will get you a brand new one to walk out with.
The problem I have is that the good is no longer under warranty, but I've only had it for a little longer than a year and the fault developed well before that. I'm asking more for UK members here who know what recourse I have here - is it worth mentioning to the staff there that the Sales of Goods Act says that a mobile telephone should last much longer than the one year warranty, and as such they're obliged to replace it? Will they even have 3G's in stock as they no longer sell this model?
Just got a new iPhone 4 the other day. I was charging the phone and it fell, only a couple feet at most. There is a small crack in the back of the phone now, and it won't turn on anymore. My friend has a iPhone 4 as well and we swapped out the battery and the back housing (just to make sure that the crack didnt short anything out) but the symptoms persist.
I have it plugged into the wall charger now, tried doing a hard reset (holding home and power for some time) but nothing. This is very frustrating to think that the iPhone 4 is this fragile. Does anyone have any suggestions that I could try to get this device back up and running? Any help at all would be very appreciated.

View 14 Replies View RelatedMy mum only gave me this phone 2days ago as she got a new one. She's never had a problem with it and has kept it in a hard case so still looks brand new. I always have a habit of breaking or losing phones, this is 3rd one in 4 months. Anyway I picked my phone up and it was switched off but I presumed it was dead as I had left my music playing. I put it on charge only for 10 minutes but I never tried switchig it on as I forgot to take it out with me. I put it on charge again last nite but it won't turn on this morning. The screen comes up white with the battery sign on the right which stops after a minute as I assume its fully charged now. Its not the charger as my bf uses it for his and the phone does seem to be charging. The on button can't be broken as when I press it the white background comes back on. I've tried the hard reset wth the 3 * and green button but nothing.

Worked great! After about 8 months of using that set up I noticed that dirt dust whatever gets in between the case and the phone and scratched he phone up pretty bad. My bezel is scratched, the plastic back is scratched. WTF. Now I am reluctant to use a hard case on my new iphone or iPad. Anyone else experience this?

Now with the iPhone 4 I have taken even better care of it and it is covered in scratches some seem minor but some seem deep and make it look weird when you look at it with the screen on.
