IPhone :: Upgrade To IOs 5.1 And 4S Won't Restore
Mar 21, 2012I updated iTunes and then tried to update to the iOs5.1 via iTunes. This didn't work so I updated via the phone.
The phone switched off and now it is stuck with a screen that says connect to iTunes. When I connect to iTunes it says the phone is in recovery mode and needs to be restored. I have tried unsuccessfully to restore it for the last 3 hours.
Most of the time the phone would disconnect at 9minutes remaining, or it would seem to download completely and I would then get an error 3529.
I tried disabling the firewall but still nothing works.

Mar 26, 2012I downloaded the IOS5 software in the middle of October when the upgrade came out. I backed up everything then. When the new 5.0.1 upgrade came out and I downloaded it last week, I got everything back except for my photos that I took from the middle of October to when I downloaded 5.0.1 last week. how to get the photos lost during this time back? I apologize if this has been answered already and I just haven't found it...I have tried a few things from other posts but have not been successful so far.

IPhone :: Will Apple Force Me To Upgrade To OS 4.0 If Restore?
Jul 8, 2010I currently have a jailbroken 3GS running on 3.1.3 and I'm satisfied with it. If I want to restore the phone, will iTunes force me to upgrade to 4.0 or will I still keep my 3.1.3? I've heard of 4.0 causing problems (especially on 3GS and 3G models) so I'd rather not upgrade to it.

Aug 8, 2010I have just upgraded the firmware and have lost everything that was on my phone. I have tried to restore from back up but keeps coming up with "itunes could not restore the iphone "#######" because the back up session failed.
The back up was done just couple minutes before i upgraded and i have also tried previous back ups but none of them work.
Is there going to be a way to get the back up working?
Is there any one else with similiar troubles?

Jul 8, 2010I need to restore my iPhone (currently OS 3.1.2) back to its original factory setting. If I do this through iTune, will I have to upgrade to the new OS 4.0?
I don't wish to do that, as I have a new ibootrom, so I near that jail breaking in the new OS is not yet possible unless I have made some smart decision in the past, which I don't know if I did. Anyway, is there anyway I can restore factory settings WITHOUT upgrading to the latest firmware, ie. keep in 3.1.2?

Mar 27, 2012I am trying to upgrade my iPhone 4 to iOS 5. As my MacPro is still running Snow Leopard, I decided NOT to sync with iCloud but rather with iTunes. Every time I connect the iPhone, iTunes tells me the restore has been interrupted and offers to resume backup. When I do, it starts restoring, restarts the iPhone and then I get same message.... over and over again.

Jan 29, 2010My iPhone 3gs is stuck in that mode where I can't get pass the white Apple logo even after several hard reboots (holding down the power and bottom center button. After a reboot the white apple logo appears and then it just goes away.I figured out how to get the phone to into recovery mode so that iTunes can do a restore, but I am getting the message that says "Are you sure you want to restore the iPhone to its factory settings" All of your media and other data will be erased and the newest version of the iPhone software will be installed.
Is there any way to do a restore without allowing my iPhone's software to be upgraded to the newest version of iPhone software? I have 3.0 and want to keep it because I use my phone to tether. During the restore phase is there a way to cancel the portion of it that attempts to upgrade my software to the latest software?

May 30, 2010Today I updated E72 to the latest FW 031.023 using Nokia Software Updater Tool using Laptop. Update was completed without any issue and at the end I was shown a page which says restore last back up. Now I did take backup before starting the FW update. However after updating the FW my phone has all my old settings.So question is should restore the last back up ? is that a mandatory step after FW update ?

May 3, 2012I finally updated my iPhone to 5.1. I waited so long because of the fiasco updating my iPod Touch when 5.0 first came out. I thought it worked, I was pleased Apple worked out the bugs. Lo and behold, all of my apps and folders disappeared before my eyes. No problem I thought, I did a back up. Restore from back up. Fifteen minutes later, it looks exactly the same. Isn't a backup supposed to be of everything on the system so that if something goes wrong, you just revert back to the back up and either try again or wait for the process to be fixed? Seriously, get your stuff together.

My current situation:
I am on a family plan with a total of two lines. My line is not eligible until 7/23, so all I can get is "early upgrade pricing". My mom's line is currently eligible for "full upgrade pricing". I am planning on using my mom's upgrade to get an iPhone 4. I want to preorder the phone from Apple.com on the 15th, and hopefully receive it the afternoon of the 24th. From my understanding, the microSIM that ships with the phone will be programmed for the line whose upgrade was used. However, the iPhone Upgrade Guide makes it sound like I can call AT&T once I receive the phone (and before I activate it), and have AT&T switch the microSIM from my mom's line to mine. Is this possible?

The process froze somewhere 3/4 to finish.Then ya know I googled around, downloaded pwnage tool, created a custom ipsw out of the iphone 3.0 ios 4 ipsw, selected it in itunes and tried to restore with that. Again it froze and the bar stopped just before completion.Does anyone know how to treat this one? update: I have also tried reinstalling itunes, etc, etc. Update-2: sorry typo.
