IPhone :: Played With Android Devices - Widgets - Bigger Screen
Jul 22, 2010
I've had every iphone and I got my I4 on launch day. Since then, the two big Android devices came out (Evo/Droid X). I've always been a gadget geek, so I went and checked them out. For the most part, they are both pretty impressive. I'm not ready to give up my iPhone...yet, but there are a couple of things that I really liked that I wish the iPhone would incorporate:
1- widgets
I get the feeling that the droid desktop is "alive" and some of the widgets are really useful. I know it's cliche'd, but the weather widget is really cool. If a storm is approaching, the desktop clouds up. This type of stuff isn't for everyone, but it would be nice to have the option. It makes the standard iPhone desktop feel a little stale.
2- bigger screen
I thought the Evo would be way too much of a slab, but it really didn't feel too big to me. I absolutely love the I4 Retina display, but after playing with the Evo, I really think that Apple needs to offer two options in the future. The "standard" iPhone screen and a slightly larger version for those of us that want that.
I have had 2.1 for a few weeks, and must say I didnt think I was missing anything having 1.6. But its like having a new phone now I have 2.1 I love it.
But one thing that is really annoying is that it is all too easy to accidently go into the arrange icons mode by mistake without even realising it. Quite often I look at my phone and my address book, or calls have disapeared from the corners and now sit with the icons. Is it possible to extend the length of time needed for a long press?
i want to know which android device is supporting video call?which are third party applications are supporting for making a video call on android devices..?
[URL]According to MSNBC Technology, vast majority of Motorola devices have no slated release date of ICS. This may or may not be true. I don't believe everything I read, but I figure its worth discussing anyway
At the moment, you can only use Netflix on Android if you have a Samsung Nexus S, Evo 4G, Droid Incredible, T-Mobile G2 or Nexus One.Remember, the LG Revolution was supposed to be the first phone with Netflix, but obviously, something changed because it's available in the Market right now.Interestingly, there's no Motorola phones on the list of 'supported devices' and a bunch of other seemingly capable Android phones get no love either. url...
This is really just a rant and will probably end up closed. Just annoyed. Is it just my phone? Why does the virtual key space seem to be bigger for the N than for the M? Why doesn't the phone auto-correct ne to me? Is "ne" even a word?
I currently have started switching "things" to apple. I currently have a blackberry and am looking to switch to an iphone. I have been told that I will need a bigger data plan because the iphone uses a lot more data. Is this true?
I have large fingers. I'm sure I'm not alone in this issue:Â
When looking at Contacts on iPhone (5s), the alphabetized lettering on the right side is REALLY small. When I try to tap on a letter to jump to, 9 times out of 10 I open the contact on the LEFT that is nearest the one I'm trying to tap on the right.
Hence, is there any setting to make those alphabetized letters LARGER?Â
Prior to updating to Lollipop I could operate music from the lock screen. I also had the option of adding widgets to the lock screen by swiping from the right. Since the update all of this has gone. I can't do anything without unlocking the phone. In security there is no longer an option for allowing lock screen widgets. How do I correct this?
Did my software update the other day and apart from noticing the battery tends to run out quicker than previously, I have a new issue. Â Put my phone onto charge last night with phone turned off. Â Don't normally do that but kept getting FB notifications. Â Turned phone on this morning and noticed several widgets missing from my home screen. Â There are gaps where widgets were but now they are missing. Â They are still on the phone as they're visible on the other screen where all my apps are.
According to Nokia's user guide for the C6-01, I should be able to press and hold on the home screen for the Add shortcut option to appear. It doesn't. Instead I am given the option to only add widgets. Can some please tell me how I can add apps to the home screen, or at least transfer them from another screen
My widgets on the screen such as shortcuts to turn bluetooth and WiFi on and off seem really large? There doesn't seem to be a way to shrink them down a little?
T-Mobile forced an updated to my Samsung 5 Android last evening. Now the Contact shortcuts created by the Widgets have disappeared from my home screen. I created them again they sat there for a few hours and then disappeared, now I'm creating them for the third time.
I'm new to Android, and I just recently got this phone (HTC One M8) I would like to add another widget to the lock screen main panel, but everyone I try to add a new widget it creates a new panel and puts the widget there instead of the main panel, How do I go about adding more widgets to main panel lock screen?
I recently had my arm twisted by my carrier to switch to a capped plan after years of pre-paid. With the deal came a lovely little QUENCH with MOTOBLUR MB501. I am enjoying the phone but as I am not an internet social networker I would love to remove the "Add a social network" widgets from my homescreen. As yet I have not been able to work out how to do so.
Lately I've been noticing that the displayed time on my home screen widget is inaccurate. A simple tap on the widget seems to rectify things but it's weird. I'm using Transparent Weather Clock but I also noticed the same thing using the 3D Flip Clock widget.
Interestingly, my wife is using the Note 2 and she's having the same problem.
As this is happening with multiple widgets on multiple phones I feel safe in assuming that it's not related to the devices themselves or the widgets per se.
Just updated to Belle this morning & having a problem installing widgets/shortcuts to the home-screen. It worked at 1st but now it stalls & the little circle just keeps spinning forever & does not do anything.
Word is Motorola may be announcing 2 new android devices at CES. I want to get the Nexus One right when it comes out on the 5th but now I'm thinking maybe I should wait and see what Motorola has up it's sleeve. If they are mid-level devices I would not be interested but something high end like the rumored Shadow/Mirage would be very intriguing. Anyone care to speculate?
Sometimes I've been getting random messages when I try to download certain podcasts through the itunes app on my iphone that say, "Podcast can not be played on this iPhone" And it will not download or stream the podcast. My phone isn't jail broken and all factory settings, so what is going on here?Is it just a random error in the OS or itunes store? Or did the podcaster actually upload the podcast in the wrong format?I can't imagine Apple even making it possible to upload in the wrong format though, given how controlling they are about the itunes store.Anyone know what is going on?
