IPhone :: Genius Bar, Apple Service Lost 4 Information
Apr 28, 2012
A Genius deleted and lost my iphone data right in front of me. I went Willowbend apple store in Carrollton Texas had a problem with my internet, so I scheduled an appointment with the genius bar, they switched me out a new iphone and then before checking if all my data transfered to new phone a "genius" with a new york accent deleted my old phones data . I lost half my photos all my contacts messages from march, notes and who knows what else i'll realize has been lost.
I got my iPhone this christmas and never registered on my computer until today.I have an iPod touch which is registered to the same computer which I keep all my music on.When I was setting up my phone on my computer when I lost EVERYTHING! I hit restore from Katie Hunt's Ipod touch, which I thought would only transfer my music over. But it transfered all the stuff on my iPod to my phone and earsed everything in my phone. I lost all my contacts, pictures, videos, notes, and ringtones. I really want all of my stuff back before I restored it.I called apple and they wanted to charge me 60 dollars since my free 90 days of tech support were up.The man told me to search the internet, for my problem because he said this has happened before but wouldnt tell me how to fix it.
i lost all information on my iphone 4 when pluging into itunes. itunes asked to update the phone and when finished all information on the phone was gone. itunes did not back up the phone when it was pluged in. is there a way to restore the phone to its original settings?
Is there an app that can retrieve caller ID information even when call ID isn't set up with a service provider? Even when I get a call that's in my phone book, it just displays 'unknown'. This is annoying but I don't want to pay yet another fee to my provider.
I recenly had to update my iphone as my old iphone 5 fot fried. I had backed the phone up so have managed to get everything onto my new device. The probelm is my icloud storage is now full, I have 15GB storage plan with 3GB created from my new phone and 11.5 on my old which I dont know how to edit on the new device. how I can edit this data?
My phone has crashed, but I have backed up the information on the with Black Berry Protect. When I get a new phone how can I retrieve my information? This message is to RIM, wish you would make a bit sturdier phone without buying all these other accessories.
My provider was not able to. I had to get my phone switched out and I asked them to transfer all information from my old phone to my new phone. Well, to my surprise they returned my new phone to me and it did not have my contact information, my memo notes nor my text messages. They said this information was lost. (1) how this could have happened and (2) Is there anyway to capture this lost information. It is very important that I retrieve this information back..
Second enquiry of the day But I had to take my BB Curve into store yesterday where they downloaded new software, it certainly got it working again however I have lost all my data?I had saved text messages from someone that is evidence in a court hearing next week - is there anyway these can be recovered or are they lost in cyberspace forever??
I seem to have lost some contact information. Though many of my contacts are still intact, others no longer show a secondary phone number I once entered, or some contacts seem to have disappeared completely. The strange thing is, when I dial one of the "lost" numbers manually, the contact's name does show up! But I can't find it in the list of contacts. I have already checked and unchecked the Business and Personal options in the filter menu, but that didn't do the trick.Any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong?note: this problem is not my own - I'm asking for a friend of mine
Since I switched phones from a 9000 to a 9700 I tried doing this through desktop manager. But everything got erased from the 9000 (contacts, everything!) and nothing got uploaded to my 9700. Is there any way I can find the lost info??? I am pretty sure i never did a back up from the 9000. I cant believe I lost all my contacts!!!
I always have the iPhone App Store Genius recommendations turned on by default. Always worked fine until today, when I got the message "You do not currently have any recommendations". Strange, as I have 5 pages of apps. Logged into my account, turned Genius off, turned it back on again, agreed to terms and conditions etc, but the Genius recommendations page is still empty. Anyone else ever had this?
US Apple Employee took my Japan iPhone, tried to unlock my iPhone by installing an app called "unlockit.co.nz", put my AT&T sim card in, read FAILED, and said it didn't work. He reassured me that my Japan iPhone will still work when I go back there, but I have no reassurance now. Did they mess up my iPhone and not taking responsiblity for it? Do Apple employees typically install sketchy 3rd party unlock apps that change APNs?
I went into the Apple Store today with both my US iPhone 4 (16 GB Black) and my Japan iPhone 4 (16 GB Black). My US iPhone was having issues with its bluetooth and home button is sticking a lot. He couldn't replace it since it was out of warranty and suggested that I find a 3rd party repair shop or look on Craigslist.
My Japan iPhone 4 is still under warranty and suffers from one spot on the screen being exceptionally bright. He said he could replace my Japan iPhone with a US AT&T iPhone. I told him, I'm not sure if that would be smart since my Japanese Softbank SIM card may not work anymore in an AT&T iPhone. He explained to me how unlocking works and said he can easily set it up for me. He took my Japanese iPhone, went to some site, installed a program, did a few things, and took my AT&T SIM Card out and put it into my " newly unlocked" Japan iPhone. The phone kept saying SIM Failed and he restarted it, and it still didn't work. He put my AT&T SIM card back into my US iPhone and thankfully, it still read my SIM Card.
He offered to exchange my Japan iPhone for a US iPhone 4, and suggested that I call AT&T to have them unlock my phone for me. He said they would do it, if I was out of contract with AT&T, but I wasn't, so I went home back at status quo, or so I thought.
I looked at my Japan iPhone again, and noticed that there was an app called, "unlockit.co.nz". It opens up Safari and pulls up something called APN Changer. Upon closer inspection, it's the same app/site the Apple Tech pulled up when I was at the store. I'm a bit leary about odd apps, especially apps that originated from the domain co.nz. I googled the site and looked it up, and it seems a bit odd.
Now, I don't know what this program exactly does, but I'm a bit annoyed that I don't know what app the Apple Employee installed and what it exactly did. I have no assurance that my Japan iPhone will work in Japan now after he installed this app and did something. Is it the Apple policy to go and install 3rd party apps? Will my Japan iPhone still be good when I go back or am I going to land in Japan and spend the first few hours at an Apple store trying to get my phone replaced/fixed?
I have owned my iPhone 3 for about a year, While trying to sync with iTunes, as I do a couple of times each week, for the first time I have received an error message: "Apple Mobile Device Service Not Started."
I have a prepaid phone from ATT and they said that the way that Apple sends data doesn't support the prepaid service. I was just wondering why they did that? If it was intentional?
An Apple customer service representative just informed me that today, they were informed that there is a limit of only one iPhone for online order per account, no matter what the eligibility of your various AT&T lines are. I ordered each of my iP4's separately, although they're under the same family plan. He said, "It wasn't announced and we, or at least I, was just informed about this today, but you can only order 1 iPhone online. We've actually had a lot of people calling about order cancellations." I specifically asked him why this was the case if multiple numbers on a family plan are eligible for an upgrade, but he was unable to answer. He stated that we would have to purchase our second iPhone 4 in store and that everyone who ordered more than one iPhone will have all but one of their orders cancelled.I've ordered 2 iP4's. One has been shipped, and the other has, "Not yet Shipped." The rep looked up my order for the phone that hasn't been shipped yet and said that there is a hold on it because we're only allowed to order one iPhone 4 online. So, if what this rep said is true, how can so many people claim that both of their orders have been shipped? Here's another thread stating the same thing: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=943290
Received new iPhone 4 yesterday. The screen has a 1 inch hairline scratch. Called Apple Store & was told that they would swap the phone for an unboxed "service" phone. Does anyone know whether these phones are actually new or just recycled or previously returned phones?
