I downloaded the update for iOS 5.1 for my iPhone 4 from itunes. Download was complete and I clicked on iphone under devices. 'Downloads' where the update was complete disappeared. What to do now?? Where it has gone? My iPhone is still in same condition i.e. with old version.

I've recently bought an iphone 4s, but I'm having trouble synching my itunes to my iphone. It seems to synch for a few moments, the top of my itunes tells me that it's synching 'step 2 of 5' for example, but it never completes it, and my music never appears on my iphone.
It says that the iphone could not be synched because the required disk could not be found. Itunes is not the default player for audio files, could this have something to do with it?

I tried holding down the home and power button to get the dfu mode for restore, I've done this a few times now, it goes black after doing it and then goes back to the connect to itunes screen when I do it again. I bought two whole albums off of iTunes the other day from my Mac. They downloaded, and synced to my iPhone. These albums can play on my iPhone normally but there are also duplicates with the symbol as described above, except with no art work and they will not play.I am a user of iCloud, but not iTunes Match. All the songs are properly downloaded on my Mac, and there are no available downloads. I've tried hard reset as well and powercycling my phone. I've closed down the music and tried restarting. Everything is all up to date, and I've tried taking these two albums off then back on my iPhone, but that didn't do anything. The scenario is I have my iTunes Library stored on D:iTunes and from what I gather on the forums, the Motoactv software doesn't behave well when the library is not on C:. When I try to sync within the application none of the playlists are found. I've tried the suggestions of deleting and recreating my library XML file, but it doesn't seem to help. I can copy music in USB drag-and-drop mode, but this is a pain. I'm on Windows 7 64-bit.
